  1. The first 6 picks are all prospects as well as the first three on day three.
  2. It's not a 5 man class. That's ridiculous.
  3. If you don't want to ever punt picks, you're taking 20 college players every draft. That's just the way it works. If you want early round high school talent, the money has to come from somewhere. Shirley isn't unprepared. He's actually pretty good at this. Their 2022 draft might be one of the best in the sport. Yeah the class seems fine now. Day three is a nice rebound. You have to think of rounds 6-10 as basically 16-20 in actuality. That's how this works sometimes. Grab some really cheap guys to ensure that you can utilize the entire bonus pool. This isn't a draft class where it made sense to pay slot values in every round. There aren't enough good players.
  4. It's 6 players in an 11 player class so far. This draft is really bad. Players legitimately not worth playing the slot game through round 10. The White Sox believe that Mclain, Saucke and Antonacci are real pieces for them.
  5. They should have some money today but it sounds like night one was expensive. I’m still not sure where the overage went or is going though. I’m interested in Zach Stewart and Cade Obermueller today. No idea if either is an option. These picks today will all rank higher than 6-10 though. I like going prep in 2nd. What did you prefer? I like that plan in a shitty draft.
  6. Caleb Bonemer ranked #36 in the class at BA. I’m guessing the White Sox feel similarly or higher
  7. They haven’t been cheap in the draft in a long time
  8. I mean I suppose. More likely to be a college RSO though I’d think
  9. Agreed but I’m not sure what the $$ is being spent on
  10. The class isn’t good enough to pay slot all the way through. I’d much rather take Caleb Bonemar than give slot to bad players who don’t deserve it in 7-10. It’s a bad draft class
  11. Sox have spent to the pool every year fora while. Having $19 million to spend on players is helpful.
  12. It's a really bad draft class but I'm very underwhelmed.
  13. No. Everything over $150K counts against the pool. So like last year, they paid Mathias Lacombe $450K. $300K counts against pool. If they made that selection in rounds 1-10, it would cost $450K against the pool.
  14. I'm guessing that both 2nd rounders are overslot. Prep players are expensive.
  15. Shirley basically the said the opposite last night and I know it's true in football from coaching. Not a ton of playing time for college freshman due to the transfer portal. If someone is offering you over $1 million to play baseball, you should take it.
  16. Very solid first night. Love prep guys in round 2.
  17. I don’t know who they like more. No idea
  18. Latest from Kiley McDaniel has Jac Caglianone, Michigan prep infielder Caleb Bonemar and Missouri State outfielder Zach Frazier tonight for Sox. Lots of power. Callis has Griffin and says he’s their top guy. Everyone else has Cags.
  19. I'd prefer Griffin. I always would rather take the chance on the superstar potential, up the middle talent.
  20. I doubt it. I don’t think Sox want to give anyone in this class full slot though.
  21. Outside of the Schultz pick, Callis usually nails the White Sox plans.
  22. It’s not necessarily punting though. Especially in a bad draft class.
  23. Callis has Konnor Griffin in his final mock. Says White Sox prefer him to Cags and Wetherholt.
  24. I still don’t think you understand how this all works and I try and explain this every year.
  25. If an advisor tells the teams with picks 6-9 that they aren’t signing for slot, those teams will pass and take someone else. Nats can pay more than the slot values at 6-9 pretty easily.
