  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 01:08 AM) Hey who won large class state in Illinois? I lost interest when my beloved Benet team fell out and my beloved Brother Rice team had no chance this season. Stevenson beat Normal Community. Stevenson is pretty loaded having won football and basketball state. Jalen Brunson is their PG, the son of former NBA player Rick Brunson. He's headed to Villanova.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) To criticize him for something that is not his fault is silly. Rose and Noah had upper management imposed minutes restrictions. They still miss a ton of games. Gibson's ankles are not Thibs fault. Butler injuries have had nothing to do with excessive minutes. The Bulls have a roster full of injury prone guys. They could be totally healthy going into the playoffs, but that wouldn't last more than a game or two. Tthey get hurt more often than Chicago Bears. I agree with you. Management doesn't though.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) There is but if you are removing Thibs, it can't be because of his regular season record. And if it is about playing time, this year he has been stuck with minutes limits for a lot of players, so they can't get him for killing the players. The only thing they can use as a reason is lack of playoff success. Moving on from him and hiring a guy whose 3 seed team lost to a 14 seed in the round of 64, and using that excuse, would be sort of insane. Of course I am assuming Hoiberg would be the coach, and there are those that probably know more than me that think he wouldn't leave Ames. But if a lack of postseason success is the reason they use to move on from Thibs, since GarPax has pretty much been denying any rift even though the entire world knows, they are going to have to hire someone with a track record of postseason success to at least look a little truthful at the press conference. For once, I hope Cowley is right. Losing Thibs over pettiness and/or ego would be a huge mistake. What if they don't think they can win a title with Thibodeau as head coach? If that's the case, then they will get rid of him. Regardless of what we think, management thinks that he is one of the reasons why guys are always injured. I like Thibs but I've never understood why he's some deity that can't be criticized. The man has never won anything but it's looked at as blasphemy if he's ever criticized.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Just thinking out of the box here... if Brady Aiken is available at 8, and ends up having TJ surgery, do you draft him hoping to bring that arm in underslot? Absolutely. I posted this same thought in the 2015 Draft thread. I'd probably even give an injured Aiken slot at #8.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 01:44 AM) Brady Aiken left in the middle of the first inning, concerns on his elbow. i would really hate to see Hou vindicated on the fiasco over his draft. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ I hope he falls and the Sox can draft him for slot at #8. Would be ideal. Still way early though.
  6. QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Who do you want getting the 5th starter spot while Sale is out, DA? Why will they need a 5th starter? Monday April 6th at KC Samardzija/Quintana Wednesday April 8th at KC Samardzija/Quintana Thursday April 9th at KC John Danks Friday April 10th Home vs Twins Hector Noesi Saturday April 11th- Quintana/Samardzija (on regular rest) Sunday April 12th-Sale. I'm not really understanding why they need a 5th starter if Sale pitches on the 12th.
  7. I feel like if Brad Penny factors into the White Sox season in any way, then something went horribly wrong.
  8. He only has to miss 9 games. It's a no-brainer. He could go 2-30 to start the year. Nobody is even thinking about that. The only thing people say talk about is them losing by not having him. It's not even about Super II. It's just about getting the extra year. It is essential with a Boras client.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) Except then it requires another roster move if he isn't. Woiuldn't they just keep 8 relievers? Lets say that Robertson, Duke, Petricka, Jennings, and Putnam are all on the team. I think Webb, Guerra, and Albers battle for the last 2 spots. Couldn't they just option Guerra or Webb when Sale returns? I think Guerra is out of options however.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2015 -> 08:46 AM) I'm sure it won't change anything for Bryant, although it may lead to changes in the next CBA. It's just slowly turning into a publicity nightmare for the Cubs. The smart fans know the benefit in holding him back a few weeks, but a lot of frustrated fans don't care, they want see to the best players now. Frustrated is the wrong word. I prefer stupid in this case. If you are a Cubs and want Kris Bryant in the majors to start the year, that is a really stupid opinion. There really isn't another side in this argument.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 18, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) Sports are really starting to piss me off. Tanking for years is acceptable, yes as a fan I want my team to suck for a number of years. When a team wins a championship, I gain nothing in the grand scheme of things, nothing. Mylife is no better or worse because of the 2005 White Sox. Yes it was fun but then that is it. It is over. Each day and each game is its own entity of enjoyment to me. It benefits me in my life for that time I am watching/attending it and that is it. There is no reason why Bryant should start the season in the minors. Any work he needs he can get in the MLB. If the cubs believe they are a better team without him fine but they are not. This is a very bad and uninformed opinion.
  12. They won't need a 5th starter though. Just go with 4 if Sale is indeed starting on the 12th.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Yea it would be nice to have a defensive minded 4th OF that can play a solid CF. Schuck isn't capable of playing CF as anything other than an emergency option. If Eaton goes down for a month they probably have to switch Melky over to CF and that messes everything up. Trayce has a hot spring and carries it over to Charlotte he might see himself up in June. It would be Bonifacio in CF then.
  14. Oliver Purnell is resigning at Depaul. Any Depaul people on the board? Howlund has been rumored in the past. Someone like Rod Strickland do anything to move the meter? I think DePaul has the best chance of any of the Illinois schools to build a program with Chicago kids staying. New arena will help but they need a coach. Any ideas?
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 13, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) Saints are going to be awful next year. What a mess that team has become. I'm actually not positive that they will be awful. They will run the ball a lot more. They have Ingram, Spiller, and Khiry Robinson. They still have some talent at WR. They do have holes on the OL and in some spots on their defense. They have 5 of the first 78 picks in the draft though. If they draft well, they will compete in the awful NFC South.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) How many games have you seen these guys play? Exactly. I don't get too caught up in order of the top 10. The system absolutely is the best it's been in a very long time and that's exciting. The Sox have a ton of pitching and they have more than a few guys that could make meteoric rises into the top 10. Lots of guys with injury history with tons of potential as well.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2015 -> 09:23 AM) The whole story is that Doug will get minutes when he is ready to be a guy who can contribute. A short spurt doesn't mean anything honestly. He'll play a ton next year for Hoiberg.
  18. I actually think that is a really good list. Callis is very familiar with the White Sox system though. I am stunned that Thaddeus Lowry isn't black. Guess I should stop assuming haha
  19. If Sam Bradford is healthy, he is a much better player than Nick Foles. Nick Foles just isn't that good. Still a big gamble by Kelly.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) When do the signings become official? 3pm ct or et? CT
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) Yeah, but if you are drafting Petty then you probably don't have a QB as it is and are gonna get fired either way. Might as well take a chance. Why do you think guys like Ponder or Bortles get drafted in the 1st round? Because NFL teams very often make really bad decisions.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) I don't think his age is really an issue. It's not like he is 29. Qb's have entered the draft at that age before and there have been plenty of qb who didn't start a game until they were 25 or 26. I think the biggest question with him is how much of his success had to do with the system he was in. He does have the size and arm to play in the NFL. He can also move around pretty well. I don't think taking a QB in the 3rd round is a fireable offense. If someone took him in the first round maybe. See I do because I don't think he's ever going to be an NFL starter. You need to get starters in round 3. Go look. QB's that were 24 at or around draft day. The next successful one will be the first.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Bonner would be a nice pick in the late rounds. Bryce Petty might be worth a pick in the 3rd round or so. Bryce Petty is undraftable for me. He's already 24. No QB has entered the league via the draft at 24 and ever been successful. He also is extremely inaccurate which is #1 quality in a QB. He is also injured all the time. I like to sum up Petty as old, bad, injured, and inaccurate. That's just my opinion but taking Petty in the 3rd round would be a fireable offense for me.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) All the QBs after Mariota/Winston are short and terrible. Hundley isn't short but yeah. Hundley is draftable because of his "skills". The only other QB I'd spend a draft pick on is Chris Bonner from Colorado State Pueblo. More intrigued by him than any of the other guys.
