Non-Roster Invites
In my opinion, if Scott Carroll starts a game for the 2015 White Sox, something went terribly wrong.

Non-Roster Invites
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I don't think there's a spot for him. I feel like you have to take the best 7 and I just don't think he's one of them. Is Carroll better than: Robertson, Petricka, Guerra, Webb, Putnam, Jennings, or Duke? If Crain is healthy somehow that leaves another spot. Not to mention guys like Onelki Garcia and Cleto. I take my best 7. Carroll isn't one of them. He starts in Charlotte or goes to another organization.

Non-Roster Invites
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Well likely need Carroll as a spot starter this year so that's good he's back. 4th OF options are a little disappointing. I don't think there's a spot for him. I feel like you have to take the best 7 and I just don't think he's one of them.

White Sox sign Jesse Crain
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) If everything works out a perfectly, a bullpen consisting of Petricka, Putnam, Guerra, Duke, Crain, Jennings, and Robertson seems damn solid to me. You also have guys like Cleto, Montas, Jones, Carroll, Surkamp, etc who could possibly be in the fold as well. It's nice to have a plethora of options. Daniel Webb?

Rodon *NOT* to "probably" begin Sox career in pen
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/558385047687163905 Good. Because he's a starter. Nice girlfriend. http://instagram.com/p/yK5tLKNBk3/ You can tell he's a rookie if he's bringing his GF to Soxfest. Fanfests are notoriously "ripe" for the players. It's why so many of them enjoy going to these things.

Blue Jays/Team President Question.......
Sorry guys. You can merge this into the original thread. I couldn't find it when I searched for it and it's right there on the front page. My bad.

Blue Jays/Team President Question.......
Supposedly the Blue Jays are moving closer to naming Dan Duquette of the Orioles as their President and CEO. Kenny Williams was rumored for this position early in the offseason. This is never going to happen but Jeff Hoffman is one of the names being thrown around on twitter as possible compensation to the Orioles. That is nuts. My hypothetical to Soxtalk: Would you trade Kenny Williams to the Blue Jays for Jeff Hoffman?

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) Yea i agree. They don't have anything in the pipeline that projects to be as good as our current stars. Maybe Bryant can match Abreu? I dunno. I think Abreu separates himself from Rizzo substantially this year though. Rizzo is younger, LH, and much better defensively though. Abreu is a monster but you have to account for that. Rizzo is a really good player. That trade value column from Jonah Keri this offseason listed them at 6/7 respectively I believe. Can't go wrong with either guy.

Would you...
I was just coming to create a thread about this. He would cost a comp pick but at this point it'd only be a 4th rounder. Here is a good synopsis of the possible Shields market from Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/finding-a-p...-james-shields/

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I just want to know why the refs didnt catch any of it. 2lbs isnt a little bit. That is an obvious difference They didn't catch it because they have too much other s*** to worry about in the micro-managed modern NFL. There are so many bulls*** rules to keep count of, how can the officials possibly worry about everything?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) Thinking back to the penalties New Orleans got hit with for their bounties, I think the penalty should be people in the organization getting suspended. Kick Belichek out for a year, like happened to NO. If you find out anyone else was involved, suspend them as well. Are they going to kick other QBs out of the league though? Guys do this every week. QB's get the balls aired up to their liking and basically force the officials to call them on it. This goes on a ton.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) I'd either take 1sts and 2nds for the next three years or if they REALLY wanted to drop the hammer: No picks this year. None. It should have an effect like the Joe Smith - Timberwolves penalty. You obviously don't follow the NFL if you think that's an appropriate fine. 1st and 2nds? Not a chance. That would kill an organization. Not going to happen.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Kraft and Goddell are as tight as Reinsdorf and Selig. They may lose a couple of picks and a six figure fine. The real punishment should be BB suspended for the game or 8 games next year. It's most likely more of a Brady thing than a Belichick thing but alright.

SoxFest 2015
Brian is going to ask Hahn why he didn't sign Chris Denorfia. "You know Rick, you had a pretty good offseason but the Denorfia signing would have made it a great offseason. Try harder next time".

Seems to me like Chudzinski is Bears first choice for OC. For some reason, he isn't interviewing with Rams. He was either blocked from interviewing or staying with the Colts. Charlie Weis interviewed yesterday. My guess is that Chud can't be had, Weis isn't the right fit, and now they will lock up Adam Gase today.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Would seem like Hoke would be moving on (presumably to Tampa) if Ed Donatel (secondary coach in San Fran) is coming as well. Paul Pasqualoni is an excellent DL coach. Maybe he will stay on. If Hoke stays, it is feasible that Donatell would coach another position under Fangio. Donatell has been a DC before.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) Alcantara is their CF Fowler is a corner guy or 4th OF. They will go with Fowler in CF and a Coghlan/Denorfia platoon in LF until Kris Bryant is ready in May. I think they will play Mike Olt at 3B or move Baez to 3B and use Alcantara/LaStella to 2B.

MLB.com Top 100 list
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 02:00 AM) Of the 3 major lists each year (And now Fangraph's would make 4), I would expect Rodon and Anderson to make every top 100, and then Montas or Adams or both to sneak in to the end of at least 1 list. Keith Law has stated that Rodon, Anderson, Montas, and Micah will all be in his top 100.

How much of Chris Kyle's life is covered in American Sniper? He supposedly made up a lot of the stories in his life after the war. I have read a lot of stuff on him and he just seems like a guy that had something wrong with him and couldn't live with not being a "hero".

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 16, 2015 -> 05:59 AM) Exactly. I have no problem with an athlete thinking that. If some fan came up to me and said it, I'd shake my head at him in embarassment. That said, he better perform or the vultures will attack him. And he said it during a Fan Convention. Non story.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) Would Marrone take an OC job? Right now his stock may be down, but he's getting $4 mill and has a cozy consultant job in Houston if he wants to just sit on his $4 million with no stressful responsibilities or projects and that allows him another season to try and find a better opportunity for him personally. Right now the Bears offense seems like a shipwreck and he is in charge of trying to turn it around. Not that it's impossible, but it's not the easiest thing to do. Fox would supposedly bring Kyle Shanahan as OC. Which would be awesome.
