    Kopech had nearly spent a full season in AAA and was coming off a seven game stretch in which he was probably the most dominant pitcher in minor league baseball. It would have been impossible to look him in the eye and tell him he needed start the 2019 season down in AAA. While Jimenez has been insanely good at AAA and is no doubt ready for the show, he’s had less than 200 PA’s down there. It’s far less egregious to keep him down there until mid April. Whether they actually go through with that I have no idea, but if you put a gun to my head I’d say he’s up August 30th.

    Also, pretty sure Spencer Adams called one of his buddies a gay slur on Twitter a year or two ago. If you’re reading this Spencer, go delete that tweet ASAP.

    Obviously this isn’t a good look, but 17 years old do say stupid things. I hope people are willing to accept that those comments don’t automatically reflect his current thinking on things.

    I mean, the biggest difference is he’s striking out an additional 3 batters per 9 innings in AA. Park factor should have nothing to do with that.

    Ok cool, Fangraphs will need to eat some serious crow when they do their offseason list. And wasn’t their reliever comment only a few weeks ago? No idea how they came to that conclusion if they’ve been following the kid this year.

    A Kopech/Rodon/Cease trio could be pretty insane. And we have a ton of other interesting arms to fill up a staff. While Sale would be awesome, I’d still rather add a Machado or Arenado.

    I’m not overly surprised by this return. When Avilan didn’t get moved in July, I figured there must not be much of a market. Moving him is still the right move, just to give our minor league lefties more opportunities.

    No, I’d rather have a 2nd round pick than Dedelow or Frost. If you’re talking about Rutherford, Adolfo, Gonzalez, etc. those guys are top 100/fringe top 100 and would not classify as a lottery ticket under any definition.

    I think he’ll definitely makes Fangraphs top 100 list this offseason. Not sure about the other major publications. Didn’t someone mention that Keith Law really likes him?
