  1. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20180415 Birmingham with a double header. First set of games start around 1pm CST.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 08:55 AM) Really good to see Booker raking and playing well, that OF is insane Even Rutherford is hitting well (Not much power) I assume Adolfo is DL bound soon however so that clears things up slightly Why do people think Adolfo is DL bound soon? I’ve seen this in three spots now and I’m confused to why so many people believe this. I know someone mentioned the Sox Talk podcast specifically mentioned 100 at-bats but I listened to this and they were simply trying to remember what was said. I found a quote from Hahn and he actually said Micker could get “a couple hundred” at-bats even if surgery is needed. And again, it’s not known yet if surgey will be needed. The White Sox originally expressed optimism that he might be able to rehab the elbow while DHing. So yeah, I think it’s a little too early to say this will clear up the OF glut in High A. Booker is 24 years old and really needs to be challenged against more age appropriate competition to see what we have in him. I think he gets moved up to AA as soon Robert is back. And if Basabe keeps this up, he won’t be too far behind Booker. I could see both of those guys playing for the Barons by June with Polo moving up to AAA to make space.
  3. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 10:23 PM) It's good to see the OF guys are off to a good start. I just realized how scary this our infield crop is, especially in the middle of the field. What we have in the majors if all we have. Double Y may be the best infield prospect in the system right now. I’d argue Curbelo but given the fact he hasn’t made full season that doesn’t paint a rosy picture either. Would be nice if one of our LatAm signings could become a viable middle infield prospect. I had high hopes for Nunez but he had a pretty rough 2017. Maybe we get lucky with Sosa, we’re bound to hit on one of those guys.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 09:21 PM) We would all absolutely love watching Adolfo and Eloy manning 2/3rds of our outfield for 5+ years. Their personal history along with The Bess attitude in baseball... fun times to hope for. Yeah, my dream OF would Jimenez in LF, Robert in CF, & Adolfo in RF. Those three could combine for 100+ HRs easy at the Rate.
  5. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 09:04 PM) Well maybe I will freak out a little bit FutureSox posted an update and said he 98 & 99 in his second inning of work.
  6. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 08:47 PM) Is that TV radar gun right? Looks like Vieira is sitting in the low 90s. If he lost some velo he is not nearly as interesting of a prospect. They said it was 2 to 3 MPH slow on the broadcast earlier, but that probably doesn’t explain that droppoff.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 08:04 PM) I will get yelled at for this, but I hope they take Bohm or Madrigal instead of Swaggerty due to this 100% agree. I’d be fine with a HS OF in the 2nd round, but that first pick should be an infielder or pitcher. Bohm to me makes the most sense if he’s there.
  8. Adolfo is a f***ing beast. He already has the body of an in their prime major league slugger. If he can keep the K rate down, he’s gonna be an absolute monster.
  9. Booker popped out, so bottom of the 9th for the Dash will be Rutherford, Basabe, & Adolfo.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 07:49 PM) When Robert’s healthy, where is he going to start? A or AA? High A. I believe he’s on their DL.
  11. Booker up with 2 outs and based loaded in the bottom of the 8th of a tie game.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 07:42 PM) Basabe has had a HUGE start to 2018 No doubt, would be awesome to turn him into a top 100 caliber prospect. The tools are clearly there to make a massive jump this year.
  13. I highly recommend MILB.TV for anyone who follows these games closely. Just being able to see that 8th inning for the Dash was worth the cost.
  14. Another blast ties the game 5-5 for the Dash, this time by Mercedes.
  15. Dash making a late game comeback. Just scored four runs off homers from Booker, Basabe, & Micker and a Rutherford deep 2B. All three homers were f***ing bombs.
  16. Thanks for sharing that info flavum.
  17. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 02:39 AM) FC5 is a ton of fun, as expected. Yeah, it’s pretty f***ing awesome. A little too easy with certain buddies, but obviously you can avoid using them. And God of War is getting tremendous scores including a 10 from IGN.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:03 PM) Basto and Hawkins are the obvious candidates to give way. Polo should be playing everyday. Basabe and Booker will be the ones to be pushed first, as Rutherford needs a full High A season to prove himself. Adolfo eventually to test his bat at a higher level, but that would take at-bats from Zavala or Collins. Booker is probably going to get bumped as soon as Robert comes back. Babase will get promoted by June if he can keep this production up. Adolfo probably doesn’t get promoted this season for multiple reasons. Sheets could force a promotion post All Star break if all goes right. Nothing in Birmingham will be blocking the WS guys.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 08:23 PM) Nice to see those zeros for Parke. And Winston-Salem bats...when Robert gets there, holy schnikes. Imagine if Burger was there too.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 07:37 PM) I’m watching Parke dominate here. 5 IP 2 H 0 R 6 Ks 0 BB Had back to back HBPs but is doing really well here tonight How does his stuff look? His college numbers were horrific and I couldn’t find any info on velocity. His numbers so far on the season have been ridiculous.
  21. Winston Salem up 4-0 through 2. Hits for Basabe, Adolfo, & Sheets. No Rutherford in the lineup again, really don’t like how often he’s sitting. On the pitching side Cease has picked up where he left off with 3 K’s in two perfect innings.
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 05:14 PM) At the Charleston game to see Kanny How does Dedelow look?
  23. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 04:53 PM) That may be true but if a player is really struggling, you need to help them. I agree on not dropping the switchhitting ( he is struggling from both sides) but changing the spot in the order may change his mental approach to hitting. By saying we don't want to do anything in case we hurt his confidence, that infers winning is not a priority. In a rebuild, we have to expect less quality but the team still has to try and win. You have to live with young players going through growing pains but you disregard trying to win also. I know there is a fine line and some decisions are difficult to make. From the left side: 15.8% BB rate, 36.8% K rate, .156 ISO, .717 OPS, 110 wRC+ From the right side: 10.5% BB rate, 52.6% K rate, .059 ISO, .387 OPS, 13 wRC+ I wouldn’t say he’s struggling from the left side. Could he be better? Sure. Does he need to be better to offset his right handed issues? Most definitely. But I think it’s clear where the largest problem is stemming from.
  24. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:38 AM) Not true anymore. It is actually quite the opposite in most sports now. Either a player is good right away or they're no good at all. There is no margin for error anymore. Trout, Bryant, Lindor, Correa, are among baseball's top players and they came up, got on top and are staying there. Not to say that a more traditional development path can't still be successful, but if a player comes up and struggles he's more likely to completely wash out than become a star eventually. Jack, I like you bro, but this viewpoint is insanity. Here is one example that took five seconds to think of. I’m sure there are dozens of others I could think if I spent the time. Jose Altuve 2011 (21): 234 PA, .654 OPS, 80 wRC+ 2012 (22): 630 PA, .740 OPS, 102 wRC+ 2017 (27): 662 PA, .957 OPS, 160 wRC+ Yoan Moncada 2017 (22): 231 PA, .750 OPS, 104 wRC+
  25. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:25 AM) The Cubs didn't trade the best pitcher in the history of their franchise for Kyle Schwarber. Huge difference man. The Sox need Yoan to be a stud. I don’t disagree we need Moncada to be a stud, but development is development. If Yoan ultimately needs two weeks in Charlotte at some point to figure his s*** then I’m all for it. This idea that Yoan must “sink or swim” at the major league level is ludicrous. Sometimes working through adjustments against lesser competition is more effective than trying to do so at the major league level. I don’t think it will come to that but everything should be on the table when it comes to solving Moncada’s swing & miss issues. The good news is it’s only been 12 games so there’s plenty of time for Yoan to show some improvement before we have to consider that path.
