Sanchez flips one out to left center to cut the deficit in half. And Anderson slaps one through the right side of the infield to tie the game. -

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 12:51 PM) If I said I watch a lot of Padres and Giants baseball I'd be lying, but the Sox *have* to be the worst team in baseball. Pelfrey and Shields in a rotation, guys like Sanchez and Saladino hitting in the middle of the order. This is rough Don't forgot the Dutch Oven. When Miguel Gonzalez is arguably your second best starter you know things are bad. -

Pelfrey serves up a meatball to put the Red Sox up 1-0. The rotation (outside Rodon) is doing its part to catch the Phillies. -

Moncada with a .214 BABIP, at some point the bad luck has to end for him. -

I guess we need one of these today...

I can't believe people actually want abandon ship with Anderson in year one of our rebuild.

Any predictions on who takes Lopez's spot in Charlotte's rotation? Got to think one of the AA guys gets promoted. I'm going to say Guerrero gets the bump up. Today will mark his 46th AA start and he's been absolutely incredible all year in his second go-around with Birmingham. He really deserves a promotion. And unlike Kopech, Guerrero should have no real innings cap, so there should be no concerns about promoting him only to have to replace him in a few weeks.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 12:16 AM) I didn't have Delmonico in my top 30. Some of the others did. He was tough to fit. Will you guys be providing your indivual lists? Just curious where certain guys like Gillaspie, Delmonico, etc. slotted amongst the different contributors.
-
Apparently Eloy was robbed of extra bases in his previous at-bat. Kid is an absolute beast.
-
Giolito probably done for the night, but very nice start all things considered.
-
Hansen strikes out the side in the 6th to put him at 12 Ks on the night. Dude is something else.
-
I just want to say Baseball America should be embarrassed for not including Hansen in their mid-season top 100. That's going to look real stupid by year end.

Can Rodon become a quality mlb starter?
Chicago White Sox replied to Dominikk85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) He has fanned at least 10 seven times in his career, and 5 of his last 9 starts. His ascent to ace is happening. What will be interesting is what their plans are for him. 4 years of control after this year. Next year is a throw away, a lot will have to go right for 2019 to be close to the same. Do they trade him for prospects? If the ascent to ace is happening, that would greatly speed up the rebuilding efforts. The pitching staff could very well be ready for the most part by 2019. Either way, this would be a great problem for us to have. In a perfect world Hahn finds a way to extend Rodon this offseason, although that's obviously a huge long-shot. -

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
Chicago White Sox replied to Lillian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) engel is great defensively.. but I'm troubled by the fact that he can't hit a fast ball down the middle of the plate. I don't think Engel ever figures it out offensively and I would definitely play Luery over him in CF next year. And I honestly think Willy, Delmonico, & Cordell all deserve playing time over him in LF as well. Best case scenario IMO is Engel hits enough to be a solid 4th OF. -
Long term roster and lineup projection
Chicago White Sox replied to Lillian's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) Hansen and dunning should both be major league ready after two more full seasons in the minors. Surprised everyone is so quick to give up on Adams and not include him in the pricing staff. He's only 21 years old and pitching in AA. Considering he might still have some growth and projection left in him I feel he is a prospect to watch. Here's the problem. I fully expect Lopez & Giolito to be in the rotation to start next year along with Rodon. At some point, Kopech will force his way into rotation as well. Assumes all goes well (unlikely I know), that basically leaves one spot for Adams, Stephens, or Guerrero for 2018/2019 before Hansen & Dunning start pushing for spots. I think Adams will end up being a quality #4 starter, but it might not be with us. He'll need to grab any opportunity presented and run with it or else some of the higher ceiling guys will take his spot. -
QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) Gillaspie it all depends on whether or not you believe he's a fluke. Delmonico's biggest knock (by far) is his defense. Multiple positions is a misnomer - his play in LF the other night was amazingly awful. The problems I have with Gillaspie are that he's a poor athlete, a below average defender at 1B, and lacks bat speed. The batting eye is obviously plus and apparently he's got significant raw power, but if that doesn't translate to in-game power he's a dime a dozen 1B/DH at best. I'm not giving up on him just yet and was ecstatic to get him in return for Jennings, but I view him as someone whose stock is signicantly down and will need to prove himself all over again.
-
Great list. My two biggest complaints are Gillaspie being too high and not including Delmonico. I get that Gillaspie was a top 100 guy for Baseball America last year, but honestly I'm not sure that was warranted based on the scouting reports I've read. I really think he should be in the low to mid 20's after guys like Burdi, Fulmer, Guerrero, Adolfo, & Basabe. And I think Nicky should be in that range as well. He's a much better athlete than Gillaspie, has the ability to play multiple positions (although poorly at this point), and is actually having a solid season. I probably like Nicky's chances of becoming a regular better than Gillaspie's at this point and he also has the floor of useful bat off the bench.
