  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Giolito hit the wall big time in his start He admitted to having struggles maintaining his new mechanics the deeper he goes into games. The good news is his pitching line through the first five innings (against a strong lineup) was good and the velocity seemed a bit better. The reality is this a process that's going to take a while, so any signs of progress along the way should be viewed as positives.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Birmingham hitting .201 as a team. Snoozefest down there. I think it's finally time to write off Michelczewski.
  3. Spencer Adams legitimately doesn't strike out guys anymore. I don't get how he lost all his stuff shortly after drafting him.
  4. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 07:39 PM) Well, the Yankees' rebuild seems to be humming along nicely. Based on what? Aaron Judge's HR tonight? Their lineup is full of veterans.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 10:17 PM) People accuse me of being a troll. Me thinks this is a fake post. Avi is despised on this board. I'd say 90 percent of people on here would be against paying him any more $$ or adding any more years. I mean real money and real years. Obviously people would be OK extending his current chump change contract for 3 mill a year, add 5-6 more years. But real money? No way. I've called you a troll on numerous occasions, but sin city sox takes the cake. Dude has been trolling hard for a while now and people continue to fall for it.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) I'm not watching but I'm going to guess that's something Jose did on his own. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Abreu had to do that on his own as Hawk said. He had already K'd twice and probably not seeing the ball real well against Severino. Hey at least he didn't hit into a DP though if the Yanks let that popup drop it's an easy Dp maybe even a triple play since Abreu didn't bother to run it out. In fact he was turned around heading back to the dugout as the ball was caught. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:52 PM) Add me to list of expecting that Jose thought that was a good odea Thank you guys for clarifying, I retract my Renteria rip.
  7. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:35 PM) Yeah, then Avi showed him how to hit with runners on. Good god, not a good sign for Renteria's in-game strategy.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:32 PM) Abreu bunting with predictable results. I just turned the game on, but did Abrue actually try a sac bunt?
  9. Why in the world are Basabe & Call sitting two days in a row? Injuries?? Also, Johan Cruz with his 6th 2B on the season. He has a real chance to shoot up the prospect ranks.
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Taking bets on how low Abreu's batting average will go before he turns it around Holy s***, this may be the most negative thing you've ever said about the Sox or one of it's players.
  11. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Agree. Also, not every team in contention is looking for a 1/2 starter. Some will be looking for a 4/5. We saw Boston last year go for a 4/5 in Pomeranz at the deadline but then went for Sale in the off-season. It may turn out that next winter may be the best time to deal Q. Boston did not acquire Pomerania thinking he was a 4/5 starter, they gave up a big time pitching prospect to get him.
  12. Schnurbusch & Fisher really need to flip flop. A polished college hitter like Fisher has no business starting his first year in low A. Hopefully him, Dunning, & maybe even Hansen move pretty quickly.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) May actually got a hit? It would have put Ventura back in the news with some quotes if he got close to Robin's career start... No, he had an ugly looking K.
  14. I'll take that ducksnort, keep it going boys.
  15. Damn, May is pretty much fun bad at the plate. How could anyone actually want Bourjos over this entertainment?
  16. I hope you guys enjoyed Cy Holland while he lasted.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) $UAL closed today up .75% from where it was at this point last week. I guess the 2 billion lost has been found huh? Hard to imagine all the outrage was just a bunch of hubaloo but it was once again. Congrats to those who bought the dip and benefitted off the media's theatre. Lol...really wish I would have bought in after the story broke. Would have been some easy money.
  18. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) I sure hope I don't get you on some of my juries, unless i'm representing a plaintiff! As a matter of perspective, keep in mind that victims of sex abuse by priests get 1-3 million. Excessive force claims are all over the road, but $100k-$300k for minor injuries is common. I'll stick with what I said a few days ago - this will settle for way less than a million unless there's some decent evidence that he sustained a more serious injury, like brain damage (unlikely). I'll trust you're expertise here, my estimate was simply used to point how far off Greg's $100M idea was. But I will say given this case is already public and generating a ton of negative PR, United will be a bit more motivated to settle here. EDIT: Forgot that is was the police that were physical with him, so $1M settlement is way too much for United even if they quickly want to sweep this under the rug.
  19. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Numerous Scouts agree with you, namely that Moncada profiles well as a Centerfielder. Moncada wants and even insists that he play second base. Who is in charge of deciding where this guy plays? If I am the Manager at Charlotte, I tell Moncada to put an outfield glove on and get out there so I can see what he has. Let's see the speed running down balls in the gap. Can he do that, or not? Lol...this entire post is a joke. Like most players, Moncada has a position he prefers, which happens to be 2B. I'm pretty certain he already said he'd be willing to play anywhere though. And the AAA manager doesn't decide what position the top prospect in the entire system plays.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) To be fully honest here, I would be shocked to see the guy get a whole lot of money. To a large extent the law is on the side of United here. They have the policy in place as a part of ticket reservation, and the actual violence was done by police officials, and not the United staff. My guess is that a settlement is reached, and the terms are kept confidential, and it is more in the area of seven figures than nine. Oh I 100% agree, a million or two would be a pretty realistic settlement. I just find it comical that anyone thinks this guy deserves a nine figure settlement under any scenario.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) The guy lost 2 teeth, suffered a concussion for no good reason. Of course I'd hold out to award him zillions. He deserves a huge payday. Yeah anybody that disagrees with you folks or George Carlin I guess is stupid. I thought Carlin was a genius but his opinion on some social issues wasn't exactly scholarly. For some reason Chicago White Sox is taking the side of United on this one just because technically they have the right to kick you off the plane at any time. Yes most people would have behaved. That guy didn't want to be denied a flight home so he balked. He didn't deserve to get his face kicked in and I hope he wins 100 million or more. We get treated like sheep on flights and United should have to pay for wrecking this man's face. My comment was regarding this new United story in which you basically said "I know there are two sides to a story, but United must be guilty". No need to hear that other side right Greg. And lol at this guy deserving $100M. People who spend half their adult lives in prison for crimes they didn't commit don't get anywhere close to that amount of money when finally proved innocent. I can't comprehend how anyone could be so out of touch with reality. Calling you Forest Gump is putting too nicely.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 12:02 AM) Yes there are two sides to every story. We don't know if these 2 people were trying to be freeloaders, but if somebody was truly sleeping in their row and they merely were a few rows up, again shame on United. I mean, it sounds like this plane wasn't full and United again overreacted. Yes there's probably more to this story but I would bet United was unreasonable here or the passengers that got kicked off wouldn't have sought publicity on this. United blows as an airline obviously. https://www.yahoo.com/style/united-airlines...-181721817.html God, the thoughts of you as a juror are terrifying.
