Puig Possibility Ended...
Mods, please ban this idiot. Dude isn't going to last another day the way he's going, so might as well put him down now and allow for more quality discussion.

Official Buyers Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:00 AM) This I agree with. I want them to take Danks deal back though. Danks, Avisail Garcia, and maybe like Thaddeus Lowry. We'll pay CarGo salary but they pay Danks. Keep Samardzija and call up Erik Johnson to take Danks spot and activate Nate Jones Love this idea, just not sure the Rockies would take Danks back without a huge bump in talent. It's one to thing to get Reyes and hope Coors will work its magic. It's another thing to expect Danks to be anything but horrific there. We'd really have to sweeten the pot IMO.

Adams, Montas, & Avi for CarGo would be a ridiculous overpay. That's giving up significantly more than Toronto gave up for Tulo even without taking on Reyes' bloated contract. And just like with Tulo, CarGo's potential suitors will be limited for the many obvious reasons discussed in this thread (expensive, health issues, etc). The whole point of a CarGo trade is he will cost less in talent than the other bats available. Also, if you're going to trade Adams & Montas, you might as well add another piece or two and do a three way deal where we get Puig, LA gets Hamels, and Philly gets prospects.

7/28 Games
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Danish has had an awful year. There hasn't been a team top 3 prospect dealt the entire trade-season....let's be sure to trade ours, Williams-style. What are you talking about? The Royals dealt two top 3 prospects and the Blue Jays dealt one.

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) We are 6th to last place in the AL, have a negative 58 run differential, and will be at/under .500 when it hits August. These are all facts. Ok ok, I want to contend as much as anyone, but is this winning streak messing with our judgment here? That run differential means jack s*** though. Our position players played historically bad over the first few months, with almost every single guy performing well below expectations. Guys like Melky, Eaton, Alexei, & even Sanchez are now playing like they're capable of. This is a different team than the one we saw earlier this year and therefore our YTD run differential down to really mean much going forward.

Cargo
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) Exactly. That's why I've been beating the drum. Not with his contract and injury history. Plus he's hot right now. They'll want to move him now while the iron is hot after they moved Tulo. 100% agree. CarGo has some red flags, which is why he shouldn't cost a ton of talent to acquire. I think he's a gamble worth taking.

Alright, I'm now convinced the Sox can make a serious run at the 2nd wild card. If that's indeed the route they go, do you think they should trade for a bat and if so who? I know it's an unpopular opinion around here, but I really like the idea of CarGo. Allows us to hold onto Quintana, Shark, and most of our top prospects. I think if we take on most of his salary, we could get him for Avi and a lottery ticket prospect.

Cargo
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Angels just got David Murhpy and his .790 OPS for a song. Much rather a move like that than loading up the prospects for Cargo. Why in the world do you think CarGo is going to cost a boatload of prospects?

Holy f***! What!?

Cargo
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) The avi thing works. But maybe we should target a better player. Cargo is good but maybe somebody a little sturdier and fleet of foot. I don't really think either Cargo is the perfect player. The perfect player is going to cost a f***ton of talent, CarGo's cost may be manageable because of his salary and history of health issues.

Tulo to the Jays
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) 15:$22M, 16:$22M, 17:$22M, 18:$22M club option ($4M buyout) Reyes is owed basically another $55 million. Better be some amazing prospects coming back in return.

Tulo to the Jays
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:02 AM) That is the first time I ever mentioned that! And I didn't propose it, simply suggested it might be something COL wants to do Get your posters straight Then don't have the same exact handle as that other guy!

Tulo to the Jays
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:01 AM) No Anderson. What worries me is Phil Rogers mentioned it on Rundown. Seemed a random thing to throw out there. You must not follow Phil Rogers very often.
-
Tulo to the Jays
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) I would be as well. We never produce hitters so it would be nice to actually see Anderson make his way up and produce for us Then why do you keep proposing this?
-
Tulo to the Jays
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:57 PM) They might trade him to us to try and get Anderson now Dude, we ain't trading Anderson for CarGo. That would be one of the worst trades in recent history.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:55 PM) Deals for Shark to TOR and SF in place. The deals are sitting there. KW is still "all in" on '16 and Rick is not so there's that drama right now. What kind of offers are we talking about bucket?
-
Tulo to the Jays
CarGo will most certainly be moved before the deadline. If they treat dealing him like a salary dump, then I'm game for a trade. Acquring him would definitely be a risk, but one that might be worth taking if it's only primarily money at stake.
-
Tulo to the Jays
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) Why do the Rockies want Jose Reyes? They probably had no other choice if they wanted quality prospects. Tulo has $98M remaining on his contract after this year, this is basically the equivalent of eating some money.
-
Tulo to the Jays
Wow, that doesn't help our remote chances at that 2nd wild card.
-
Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Anyone but. Maybe something like Avi, Montas, Adams and May Why would the Dodgers want Avi?
-
Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) The problem with this is it's basically two relievers (Montas hasn't proven he can be an effective starter and go 7+ innings consistently) and a rental. Maybe the Dodgers would bite on it, but they'll hold out for Quintana. Obviously, we are not in a position at present time to deal both Q and Shark, that would end our playoff run before it even gets started. Or they might counter, it will take Shark, Anderson and Montas for Puig. How many minor league pitching prospects have proven they can go 7+ innings consistently at the major league level? Way too early to write him off as a reliever. He's a legit top 100 prospect. On top of that, they're getting one of the best rental starters available and a very solid setup man with team control left. If the Dodgers have really soured on Puig and believe they have the OF depth to replace him immediately, that's a trade that can help them now plus provide some long-term upside.
-
Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:54 PM) Oh if we could package Shark for Puig I'd love it. Issue is Puig is cost controlled. Shark is a rental. Doesn't match up. I'd offer a package of Shark, Putnam, & Montas for Puig. You hope that Puig, Erik Johnson, & Nate Jones in aggragate is an upgrade over Avi, Shark, & Putnam. If not, still sets you up nicely for the next few years.

Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) It's me connecting the dots. I know for a fact KW is itching. On rundown today Phil Rogers mentioned COL and CWS as a match for maybe Tulo or CarGo and threw out Tim andersons name. Now all the Q talk is coming out after we won. Trading Tim Anderson for CarGo would be a horrific move. I'd do Avi or some lesser prospects if the Rockies ate a little bit of salary, but no way in hell am I trading my #1 prospect for him. As for Tulo, he's got $98M left in guaranteed money after this season, is over 30, & never is healthy. He's way too risky of an acquisition for us, especially if he's going to cost a s***load of talent (Anderson being just one of many pieces).

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) It was ridiculous for people to deem them as failures less than halfway into the first year of either deal. Cough Balta cough.
