That would require having an actual plan unfortunately. Hopefully Chris will come up with one and Jerry will fund it. Until then, sounds like there will be a lot of deep conversations with Pedro “the man with the plan” Grifol.
-
I’m not even exaggerating when I say this, but that is the worst press conference I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Pedro at least said all the right things when he was introduced, even if it was a bunch of false promises. Chris had no specifics on how he will improve the org. His entire plan is “sitting down with Pedro” and that will somehow magically fix everything. It is so fucking clear that this f*** whispered a bunch of sweet nothings into Jerry’s ears and was able to convince to hand the ship over to him without a legitimate plan on how to fix s%*#. Also, I can’t believe we are stuck with Pedro for another year and it’s painfully obvious that Haber will be an integral member of the front office. Throw in the fact that they plan to compete somehow next year by doing “things” and I have never been less confident in this org in my entire life. Chris Getz is basically a poor man’s Rick Hahn but without the ability to lawyer speak. What a complete fucking disaster. At least a few media members took some shots.

These comments keep getting worse and show just how fucking lost Jerry’s mind is at this point in time. May god have mercy on our souls for following this s%*#-show of a franchise.

Cleveland claims Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez

That really turned out to be a bad trade for the Angels…lol -
Can’t wait until we hear that Haber will be retained as Assistant GM. Then we’ll know for sure that Getz is simply more of the same.

Getz had incredibly limited experience with the Royals when they brought him in to lead our player development function.

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP

Cheap, inexperienced, and insular were apparently the three key criteria for “single Baseball Ops decision maker”. But seriously, how many teams don’t have a President or EVP leaders their Baseball Ops above a GM? For a team in desperate need of a strong voice & vision at the top, this truly seems like an odd time to against trend. -

So what time are we thinking this gets announced? Want to make sure I’m there when Grifol (or whoever the f*** does it) announces the hire. -
I’m sure he’s already been passed through waivers.

What in the world are you talking about? Race has had nothing to do with these hires. This is once again Jerry going what he is comfortable with. Right now, that happens to be a white former MLB player. For the last 20 years it was a black former player. He’s had women in important roles and has a history of black and Hispanic managers. Calling out Jerry for being racist is literally the only card you can’t play against him. -

I’m dangerously close to sitting out White Sox baseball until Jerry dies. Starting to question what is the point in supporting a franchise that is held hostage by an incredibly stubborn, out-of-touch owner. Jerry has always wanted to win “his way”, but you’d think he’d finally wake the f*** up given a possible sale / exit might be coming. But nope, still going to promote an insular, unqualified employee to be his head baseball decision maker without even attempting a legit interview process, despite it potentially costing him hundreds of millions of dollars down the road. Unfortunately, our only hope at this moment is Father Time and that’s a terrible predicament to be in as a fan. -

What title are they going to give Chris? GM or President / EVP of Baseball Ops? Also, I guarantee that Haber remains assistant GM once this is announced. -

Click would be ideal. But if not him, I’d say bring in Brian Sabean as President of Baseball Ops and and then Jeff Kingston to be GM. -

Have you heard any other names that could be in the running? -
I don’t get how the logistics would work with Soldier Field. I suffer through it for a Bears game or concert once a year, but I definitely wouldn’t make that trek 10 to 20 times a year. Arlington Heights would work great for the Bears, but probably not ideal for our fanbase. West Loop would probably make the most sense of those three options.

Again, they had no idea the source of the bullet. They didn’t know if the shooting was intentional or not. Sure, they may have assumed it was a random stray from outside the park, but they did not know that for sure as of 1am this morning. Meanwhile, people continued to sit in that area. Had more bullets come in 5 minutes later, 15 minutes later, etc. would you still feel it was the most tactical response possible? Thank god it appears to be random, but why even take a chance?
