  1. Hey James, what do you think about Stones tweet about Cruz? You think he’s not up to speed on things or have the Sox maybe moved on?
  2. I know someone already did this, but here are the primary DHs for all the AL contenders: NYY: Giancarlo Stanton TOR: Teoscar Hernandez* TB: Austin Meadows* HOU: Yordan Alvarez OAK: Kris Davis LAA: Shohei Ohtani CLE: Franmil Reyes BOS: J.D. Martinez Unless Cruz resigns with the Twins or wants to play for a team with zero chance of competing, he’s signing with the Sox.
  3. You can say it’s not significant, but saying we’re throwing a bunch of shit at the wall and hoping it sticks doesn’t make any sense. We’ve literally had three additions and two of them were top 10 AL Cy Young finishers. The reality is without more additions the Sox are banking on growth and bounce-backs from their younger guys, which is risky to some extent but doesn’t reflect throwing shit against the wall.
  4. Dylan Cease and the rest of the rotation is the fulcrum next year. The bullpen & lineup should be amongst the best in baseball, but we need our big three starters to pitch like expected and for Dylan to take a major league forward. Health will also be key as if any of them miss considerable time, our depth and Katz’s magic touch will be tested through lots of Reynaldo Lopez. But in all honesty, I could see Cease full on clicking next year and putting up a 4 win season.
  5. Fuck Stone, that grump doesn’t know shit. At this point Cruz has to sign with us by default as we’re the last contender with an opening at DH if the Twins are truly out. And the fact that @Y2Jimmy0 has confirmed we already made an offer and so has Not Cishek only reinforces that confidence. ALL THE FUCK IN!
  6. Then somebody should let the org mouthpiece in on the plan ?
  7. Great first post and agreed!
  8. Come on man, you’re suggesting we can’t survive even one road block? Our depth isn’t good, but let’s not act like everything went right last year. The offense can endure some setbacks, so can the bullpen. The rotation is the most concerning area and it better be addressed.
  9. So you’re question is what if everything possible goes wrong?
  10. Beef really pushing this Jerry wants Cruz narrative:
  11. You forgot the most important one: 9. All other contenders are perfect
  12. Why do you continue use career stats to evaluate pitchers nowadays? Guys can change for the better on a whim and that’s what has happened with Lynn. If you’ve watched him pitch over the past 2 1/2 years, you’d realize he’s much better than a mid rotation starter.
  13. Sounds exactly like something a Food imposter would say!!
  14. Which is why trading Vaughn++ for Burnes and signing Cruz (or Ozuna) needs to happen. The only way to convince Reinsdorf to spend like he should is if there is guaranteed revenue coming in and that means a deep postseason run.
  15. I think it’s the principe of the thing...adding a universal DH should be something both sides want but the owners are acting as if it’s a concession on their end.
  16. This should help our chances right?
  17. If you really want a Jerry Reinsdorf special, you trade Vaughn++ for Burnes and then sign Ozuna to a 4/$72M contract. And honestly, I wouldn’t be against that the more I think about it. You’d be buying Marcell’s age 30 to 33 seasons so there’s reason to think he can remain effective over the life of the contract and he’s actually hit RHP well over the course of his career. He’s not a perfect fit, but damn does Statcast love him and if he showed what he’s capable of in 2021. And now all of sudden you have a deep & talented pitching staff that stacks up with anyone. Unfortunately, this requires going a bit above last year’s payroll and Uncle Jerry can’t risk it in this environment.
  18. No doubt we have less of these players than other organizations and maybe we shouldn’t be moving them at this time, I just disagree that we could not have made a comparable offer.
  19. You’d basically have a complete roster if you did that and one that I’d argue is the best in the AL, but I’d be very hesitant to move Vaughn.
  20. Benjamin Bailey isn’t comparable?
  21. At this point, I think the best we could expect is Cruz, Wainright, and a catcher signed to a minor league deal to compete against Collins. I think that actually gives us the better group of position players and improves our SP depth, but we’d still be well behind the Yankees in that regard. All that being said, Cruz seems like wishful thinking with Jerry crying poor amidst the pandemic.
  22. Yup, and it’s scary to think how good we’d be looking had we just hit on some of those picks.
  23. It’s amazing how good the rebuild has worked out at the moment given how bad our drafting was at the beginning of this thing.
