Real Talk - Trading Kopech would be a big time mistake
Chicago White Sox replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Or the Padres with the Clevinger trade to a lesser extent. We need to add a #2 or #3 starter, but we also have to smart about it because pitching is volatile. Giving up a Kopech or a Vaughn is a big deal and should be avoided unless it’s for a perfect piece. Not sure Snell qualifies as that as much as I like him. -

He was throwing over 100 MPH in camp this year. -
White Sox coaching staff announced (List in first post)

You know who else leaked a coach...WSD ? -
I don’t always agree with Harold, but Lynn plus a two year extension would be a decent outcome for us. I still wouldn’t give up a better headliner than Stiever though, so it may be tough to get something done.

The Burger thing?

I think it really comes down to two things. First & foremost, are these guys at all legit? Obviously the thought of someone spilling all the plans of the front office is exciting to those of us addicted to offseason rumors. It’s fun to believe some of these guys are real and at least it generates some good discussion. Second, everyone loves a good mystery. Knowing who they are doesn’t do us any “good”, but it would be interesting to know why they are using burner accounts and not just their own identities like James does. Are they actually leaking info that would expose a source if it came from their personal account? Are they just some loser looking for attention by making shit up and hoping stuff sticks? This circles back to the first item, as one of them being WSD for example would suggest there may be merit to their tweets, whereas a random SoxTalk user would suggest straight trolling. Honestly, with not much else going on, I personally find it fun tj discuss, but obviously to each their own.

Sounds like someone is trying to hide something here ?

Just to be clear, the opening asks for players are sometimes ridiculous. It was reported one time that the opening ask for Sale from the Red Sox at the trade deadline prior to us moving him was something so ridiculous (can’t recall the specific players) that there was a zero chance of a trade happening. Obviously we came back with more realistic demands that offseason, but throwing insane stuff out may happen as part of the process. It doesn’t mean that’s the “real” price though and Stone should not be acting like it is.

I actually really enjoy Stone’s analysis on our broadcasts, but he comes off as this completely insecure b**** on Twitter and acts like a total dick anytime anyone challenges him. It’s really a bad look for him.

We’ll have to agree to disagree here. The Kopech I watched during his last 10 starts at Charlotte was insanely dominant (2.35 FIP | 5.86 K/BB) and looked like he was going to be a legit ace. And in his brief stint with us he flashed what looked like to me a potentially plus changeup to go with his elite fastball & slider. That’s not a dig against Glasnow, I just think Kopech operating at 100% has a higher ceiling than just about anyone.

Al’s is clearly one of the other two people. And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them is WSD.

Oh I totally agree. Jimmy is the one dude I 100% trust. That being said, James did verify that some of the info that Portillo’s posted a while ago was in indeed accurate and well before said info became public. That doesn’t mean Portillo’s is still accurate, but he clearly had info at some point whether first hand or second hand.
-
Vold Emor is basically another Schins as he blatantly got caught stealing Portillo’s info and got called out for it.
-
Some dude who pretends to be a White Sox insider on Twitter and who possibly created all these fake pizza accounts.
-
If they did, it’s a bad look that Hahn turned around and had Stone leak that so blatantly.

Portillo’s has at least gotten stuff right and is worth keeping a close eye on because at some point he had access to legit info. These other accounts are just losers trying to capitalize off the attention of a different Twitter user.

That Schins guy is truly pathetic.

Bait for what?

I’d be shocked if they add both Realmuto and Springer and I think they prioritize the former. Honestly, I’d be shocked if we don’t end up with Springer and hopefully within the next ~32 hours.

I definitely think the Reds would be looking for major league pieces. IMO, they only trade Gray if they get a ready to go but somewhat unproven pitcher along with something else that fills a major league need (RP or SS).
-
Trading for both Lynn + Gallo is going to require a top prospect(s), there is no way around that.
-
That doesn’t mean the Rays would view him as a “tolerable third piece”. Every major publication views him as a top 30 prospect and most have always penalized him for lost. You keep trying to develop a narrative that simply isn’t true.
