  1. There’s no doubt about that! What’s crazy is José is probably one of our worst hitters against RHP and he’ll be in the three hole regardless.
  2. Relievers are volatile...Givens clearly had a rough year with the long-ball. Other than that, he had a career high K rate (12.3 per 9) and a BB rate just above his career average. I’d happily gamble on a return to form given his stuff.
  3. Givens is way better than anyone left in free agency with only Harris maybe being close. And Harris is 35 years old and coming off significant usage. I get not wanting to give up a prospect when possible, but let’s not downplay Givens’ ability & value.
  4. I would do that trade, but many here are still very high on Rutherford. I’ve watched him play quite a bit and I just don’t see that high of a ceiling.
  5. Right or wrong, Ricky is going to space out those lefties.
  6. That’s what I think. And honestly, I could totally see it being for Rutherford and half the board freaking out.
  7. They aren’t adding another poor glove guy to the mix IMO. If they do add another OF I’d imagine they would at least provide some defensive value relative to Eloy & Mazara.
  8. Exactly...just sign Holt to a 2/$8M deal vs trading something extra for two years of Adam Frazier. Also, I could see Mychal Givens being a guy that’s both available and someone we’d be interested. I’ll predict we trade one of OF prospects for him.
  9. I don’t see why we’d trade assets for Adam Frazier when we can just sign a free agent stopgap.
  10. 5 WAR a season catcher? Now I’m truly convinced you know nothing about Zack Collins if you think there’s any chance he has that type of ceiling. Do you know how many catchers put up five win seasons last year? Two of them. What did they have in common? Both provide elite defensive value plus an above average to elite bat. Zack Collins will never be a good defensive catcher. Maybe his poor receiving can improve in time, but his lack of athleticism behind the plate will limit him to be average at best. As for his bat, there is potential there but he’s not putting up a .951 OPS in the majors. His AAA stats were without question skewed by playing half his games at BB&T Ballpark (1.174 OPS at home vs .731 on the road). Again, he is an interesting prospect due to his elite plate discipline and plus raw power, but his swing & miss issues (even with the changes he made) will likely prevent him ever being a game changing hitter. He can still be a useful platoon bat for us and maybe he can develop his receiving to be a part-time catcher, but he is not this potential star you make him out to be.
  11. I don’t see us trading prospects for a one year stop gap, but I could see the Sox trading McCann for one if it’s the right reliever. Maybe that’s not Kela though.
  12. He’d make more sense for the Pirates, but far less sense for us. I know Zack has limited trade value right, but giving him up for a reliever with one year of control (plus questionable character) would be terrible.
  13. I was actually going to throw out a Kela for McCann idea but didn’t think the Pirates would be interested in a one year stop gap.
  14. How you haven’t been suspended yet for blatant trolling is beyond me.
  15. Not really a personal attack when you literally said let’s trade Collins, a former top 100 prospect coming off a 140 wRC+ season as a 24 year old in AAA who has two options remaining, for a “bucket of balls”. You do seem to have some weird personal agenda with Zack.
  16. You do realize that Robert is a top 5 prospect, Madrigal a top 40 prospect, Kopech a former top 20 prospect, and Cease a former top 40 prospect. Collins is a guy most scouts and most prospect publications are skeptical of. Right now they see him as a platoon DH and those guys aren’t overly valuable. He could be the centerpiece for a trade for a reliever or a secondary piece for something better, but he simply doesn’t have a ton of standalone value at the moment. As for being a major league catcher, the kid needs repetition if he’s ever going to improve. Sitting behind both Grandal & McCann would be completely idiotic for his development. Either trade McCann and make him the primary backup or send him to AAA and get him as many starts behind the plate as possible.
  17. The problem you are missing is Moncada & Giolito are in a different stratosphere when it comes to talent. Moncada was a #1 overall prospect in baseball and pretty sure Giolito was the top pitching in the game at one point. Collins has some interesting skills including elite plate discipline and plus raw power, but he has always had legit swing & miss issues. Without massive improvements in his bat to ball skills, he will always be limited offensively. And candidly speaking, it’s way too early to say that changes he made last year are going to stick with any level of certainty. I really like Zack as a prospect but calling him a potential star is pretty ridiculous at this point. And how in the world do you think a guy coming with neutral to negative defensive value and who can’t hit LHP would put up a 4 win season in his first full season whereas the guy who was on pace for 3.7 wins per 162 games would have no chance in hell of getting there? It really seems you are taking his numbers from last year, ignoring the juiced ball & field in which he played at, and just projecting that forward. He is simply not the caliber of prospect you think he is and that’s backed up with zero publications currently ranking him a top 100 guy. I do hope Collins gets a shot at some point, but signing EE was the right move for 2020.
  18. Give me Harris, McHugh, & Holt and I’m feeling pretty dam good.
  19. Puig is a former STAR and that's all that matters!!
  20. Real question is why would the Sox have their two minions (Bob & Bruce) debunk this rumor? The general rule is thumb is don’t comment unless necessary.
