Weird, that dude should be getting zero playing time with Collins & Zavala ahead of him. Wonder if he goes in Charlotte’s DL to start and eventually backfills when / if Collins is called up. -

If they don’t think Collins can stick at C then he should definitely get the 1B job. I’m just not convinced the Sox fell that way. What do you mean the Sox signed a minor league catcher? -

That’s my point. Alonso should be platooned and when he does play it should be at 1B . Unfortunately neither part is happening right now which is really kind of dumb. -

Assuming we draft Vaughn, at this point it almost seems that Alsono would be the better one-year stopgap for 1B. -

Honestly, using Jose as the primary 1B just makes us weaker across the board. Realistically Yondor should be at 1B against all RHP and Jose against LHP with Alonso on the bench. So far neither of things are happening which is just plain stupid but whatever. -

We have one, we just DH him for the lesser option. -

Just need a Leury and a Moncada blast and we’re suddenly up 3-1 -

I would love if most of Hahn’s offseason moves worked out and made me eat some serious crow. It won’t make up for the Machado miss, but it would at least give me a little more faith in our pro scouting department. -

The moment you called it “absolute truth” it was no longer an opinion. -

Mods - Please ban this horribly ignorant bigot before he creates a complete a complete shit storm here. Dude may be entitled to his own opinion (which I fully disagree with), but to state this filth as “absolute truth” is both stupid and disgusting. Soxtalk should have no place for this type of hatred. -

100% agree. As soon as it becomes taunting, allow the umpires to issue a warning. If it continues, allow for an injection. No reason for a pitcher to serve as judge, jury, & executioner simply because they caught feelings and the one with a baseball in their hand. -

It’s so fucking ridiculous. These guys cite “professional” and serving as “positive role models” to support the idea that celebrating a job well done is some sort of problem but are somehow ok with a man throwing a 90+ MPH at another person who made them feel a little butt hurt over a god damn bat toss. -

Why in the world would that make you mad? How does it affect you in the slightest? -

Nothing about professional sports is a “normal job” though. This is an entertainment field and the players should be putting on a show for us. Emotion only adds to the product. There is a reason the No Fun League changed its policy around TD celebrations and now allow guys to be as creative as they want to be whenever they want to be. Doesn’t matter if that TD celebration comes in a tie game or when a team is down 49-0. Let the guys have some fun out there and actually entertain the legions of young fans who find the game to be somewhat boring. -

I’d give him more reps out there before I officially make that declaration. It’s not like he lacks the tools to be decent out there, whether the instincts ever come is an entirely different matter. Only time will tell though. -

I hope it works out for you! I’ll tell you what though, I was conflicted about working from home initially but almost immediately learned to love it. Like I’m way more efficient than I’ve ever been (so much wasted time when you’re in an actual office) while also having way more free time from the lack of a commute and a ton of flexibility during the day. Unfortunately, as part of my move to Nashville I will no longer enjoy this benefit, but it’s been a worthwhile two years. I can’t recommend it enough! -

I’d leave Leury in CF for now. His value increases substantially if he can play a passable CF. The bigger question mark with Cordell is the bat. If he proves he can handle major league, we can start giving him some CF time. -

100% agree. Baseball needs more marketable personalities and Timmy has the swagger to be a massive star and transformative player. Like you said, the Sox should be marketing the hell out of him, especially since young kids in Chicago will eat that shit up. -
Collins at 1B today. 0-1 with a K so far.
