And that's a White Sox winner!
Chicago White Sox replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The problem with Rodon is we only have him for two seasons beyond this one. So if he’s unwilling to sign an extension now (and even that is a risk given his healthy history and slider heavy arsenal), losing him for nothing right when we hit our competitive window would he devastating. That being said, I’m only moving him for an absolute haul. -

I just don’t see the agility to play 1B. I think he’s a below average LF or DH. -

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
Chicago White Sox replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m not writing off Eloy being a LF just yet (although he has looked bad out there), but if there is any concern at all that he’s a future DH in the near-term then it makes adding someone like JD Martinez a bit of a challenge. Instead, here’s what I think our future lineup could look like: 2020 (OD) 2020 (A-S) 2021 (OD) 1B: Alonso Alonso Vaughn 2B: Sanchez Madrigal Madrigal SS: Anderson Anderson Anderson 3B: Moncada Moncada Moncada LF: Jimenez Luis B/G Luis B/G CF: L. Garcia Robert Robert RF: M. Ozuna M. Ozuna M. Ozuna DH: Cheap Vet Jimenez Jimenez CA: Collins Collins Collins Outside of catcher, that 2021 team would be excellent defensively and every single member of the lineup could hit 20+ HRs with the exception of Madrigal. And with Ozuna being the only major addition to the lineup, that leaves plenty of money to address the pitching staff. Alternatively, if Collins doesn’t show he can be passable at catcher this year, then we should be all over Grandal as well. -

You’re ignoring all context and confusing “words” for “hatred”. -
Tim Anderson to be suspended 1 game for... language?
Chicago White Sox replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It’s not really that hard, if you’re not black don’t use the n word. Context does matter and a black person using that word is not suggesting something racist or hateful. The mean-spirited words Tim used were “weak ass” and those are incredibly tame relative to what other baseball players & coaches say to or in front of umpires on a regular basis. Should Tim have been ejected and then suspended if he called Keller a “weak ass dude”, because that is the equivalent of what he said. Again, you have to be completely out of touch with modern society or just straight up racist (not calling you either of these things BTW) to not get this and clearly MLB & Joe West fall into one of those two buckets. -

A straight man calling another straight man a cock sucker (even if they don’t mean it in that context) is far more inherently hateful than a black man calling a white person the n word. Again, just shows how out of touch MLB really is. -
Tim Anderson to be suspended 1 game for... language?
Chicago White Sox replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No offense, but the n word (this version) is used all the time in African American communities and while originating from a racial slur this version is not used in a racial or hateful way. I know a lot of white people don’t understand that, but it’s really not their place to make a call on what cultural norms are acceptable. -
Tim Anderson to be suspended 1 game for... language?
Chicago White Sox replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let’s be clear here, there are two versions of the n word and the one Tim used is not really considered to be racist or hateful (at least when used by African Americans). Like, Look at Ray Ray Run calling everyone “pal” is far more inherently aggressive. The MLB is just completely out-of-touch to suspend him over this. There is literally nothing racist about this in the context it was used. -

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
Chicago White Sox replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lol...it’s been like 16 games (talk about a SSS) and his WARP is being driven by some good luck with the bat. Glad you’re finally using the right metric to evaluate catchers, but let’s see where he’s at by season’s end. I’d wager a lot of money he’s not in the top 15 in WARP for catchers even after this big start. -

Come on man, let’s not panic over Narvaez, his offensive numbers are incredibly lucky / flukey based on the Statcast info. -

Replace Cordell with Basabe (or LuGo / Adolfo) and that could work. Collins is still a big question mark at catcher and wouldn’t be surprised if they added both Martinez & Grandal next offseason. -
What would that do? I don’t see going overslot later in the draft being a viable strategy in the later rounds when the Diamondbacks have seven top 80 selections.

Apologies, alcohol and poor reading comprehension are a dangerous combo.

You have doubts Madrigal will make the majors? Surely you can’t be serious.
