  1. fathom was just giving an example of the type of tweets out there claiming Machado to the Sox. He was not trying to pass it off as something legitimate.
  2. Am I missing something or are you suggesting Greg is a sports journalist?
  3. Anyone reliable or just randoms? Either way, if I were a fake insider I’d be willing to gamble he signs this week because it just makes too much sense with spring training around the corner. And honestly, Wednesday is probably the best if you want to throw a dart out there. I’m pretty optimistic our pain & suffering does end by next Friday.
  4. I’m not against Kuechel if his market is depressed and he’s willing to accept a team friendly deal like Pollock did. He wouldn’t be as sexy as Sale, Cole, or Verlander, but those guys should have huge markets next year and it may be prudent to grab a veteran starter while we can if he can be had on the cheap.
  5. Again, how do you think they’re paying for this real estate development? And your article says it will take seven to 10 years to complete. This is a long-term investment for them and it will most likely take quite a while before it pays back & provides the team with significant revenue.
  6. Pretty sure they lease the land around the ballpark, but regardless a costly real estate development is extremely unlikely to provide a quick payback.
  7. If this is the first time you dreamt of Machado signing with the Sox, you’re probably doing better than most of us.
  8. Gotcha and that would all make sense, I just don’t think there is a lick of truth to this Yankees’ offer. Even Duquette has already back-tracked on it a bit.
  9. I think that would be pretty crazy as the quality of contact from Timmy just isn’t in the same wheelhouse as Baez.
  10. Yankees fans on Twitter are completely unbearable. Like they legitimately feel they should be entitled to Machado & Harper just because. I really, really hope they land neither of them (which seems likely at this point) just to see their fanbase’s endless whining.
  11. Yup, which makes me think things will wrap up here soon.
  12. Lol...there have been zero rumors about the Yankees even making an offer and now Jim Duquette just casually drops the Yankees’ current offer is 7 to 8 years and above $200M? Seems like a blatant Lozano plant if I’ve ever seen one.
  13. Two questions: 1) Why would Machado care about batting second and why do you care? 2) I thought you’ve fiending for a LH middle of the order bat? That’s exactly what Joc is and if he can be bad for cheap why the fuck not?
  14. Ok I’m hyped as fuck right now. Let’s sign Machado & Keuchel, trade for Joc, and win the division NEXT YEAR. This lineup could hit 240 bombs and along with a strong pen could offset a sketchy rotation (yes I’m aware this OF defense would suck balls). 1) Moncada, 2B 2) Machado, 3B 3) Abreu, DH 4) Pederson, CF 5) Jimenez, LF 6) Alonso, 1B 7) Castillo, C 8)) Palka, RF 9) Anderson, SS IF: Sanchez OF: Jay UT: Rondon BC: McCann #1: Kuechel #2: Lopez #3: Rodon #4: Nova #5: Giolito CL: Colome SU: Herrera SU: Fry MR: Jones MR: Frare MR: Hamilton LR: Banuelos PS: Let’s hope Lindor’s calf injury causes him to miss time or be limited and pray the Indians’ rotation gets hit with some injuries and that their bullpen & OF suck ☺️
  15. This Cubs-Sox talk in this thread is ridiculous. First, while we all may be diehards, that doesn’t mean everyone has to pick one team or the other. The value of playing in Chicago is you have access to a huge market when things are going right and can take advantage of a big population of band-wagoners. In terms of true die-hard fan-bases within the metropolitan area, I’d give a slight edge to the Cubs but it’s probably pretty close. What superates the Cubs from the Sox is their support from the causal / transplant audience and much more of a regional reach (i.e. Iowa, etc). No matter how you want to argue it, the Sox are NOT a small market club.
  16. The Cubs do? Who do they lose other than Zobrist and some relievers?
  17. And Shields’ FIP & xFIP were both above 5 last year not to mention James is five years older. Nova is without question the better bet to provide solid back-of-the rotation production next year.
  18. He’s just doing that to appease the fans, IMO it’s pretty clear the Yankees are satisfied for now and are saving some payroll room a future potential pitching addition.
