  1. Some team would take a chance on Danks. I think you are overlooking how bad a lot of teams are. He would be competing for a spot on a team like Houston. Oakland would probably take him as well, given how bad their system is and how cheap they are. Basically, he will be protected. He has a legit shot at being the 4th OF next year, if Quentin is moved.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) Can't do anything but wish Walker luck Yup. Who knows, maybe he will have a positive impact. Everything is about the fit, and he clearly didn't fit here anymore, but it would be silly to do anything but hope for his success.
  3. Lets not get histrionic. I think he is just saying Robin doesn't have the coaching background to build "trusted advisors". He might have some old players he respects but as far as people he knows he can work with in this setting, there aren't really any. It's a crapshoot anyways, lets all go get loaded. More fun that way - look at the Brewers.
  4. One thing is almost certain - the picks will not be as surprising as Robin for manager.
  5. I guess its a bit late but Tigers in 5 Rays in 4 Brew in 3 Phils in 5 Rays in 6 Brew in 7 Brew in 6 PLEEEEEASE
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) Manager: Dave Martinez Bench Coach: Sandy Alomar Jr. 1st Base: Harold Baines 3rd Base: Frank Thomas/Robin Ventura (either one works) Pitching Coach: Don Cooper Hitting Coach: Tim Laker Yes to all but I doubt Sandy would leave his bench coach job in Cleveland to bench coach here. Laker was the name I forgot, he should def. be given a shot. Herm should be tendered a lifetime contract.
  7. Manager - Davey M Bench Coach - Officer Karkovice 1B - Harold Baines 3B - Robin Ventura Pitching - Coop A fella can dream...
  8. I seriously love Officer to be the bench coach. How awesome would that be.
  9. Yeah I don't consider Francona or Valentine to be realistic options.
  10. Most -> Least 1. Martinez - Pedigree, ties, obvious favorite. 2. McEwing - Some success with the current crop of kids, would truly be a fresh start. 3. Coop - He seems to really want it. I don't doubt his ability i'd just rather have him as pitching coach. 4. Alomar - Best case - Mike Scioscia. Worst case, who knows. Probably somewhere in the middle. Mixed emotions. 5. Sandberg - This would be really, really funny.
  11. This thread is just beyond the pale. ok done now. really though, trading away starter depth for a reliever in the middle of a pennant chase and then bringing in no other help? KW has to be done after this year right?
  12. Brown is ready now. He is playing for the Phillies. He has some adjusting to do, though, like nearly all prospects.
  13. Trading Q also frees up salary to perhaps sign mr Danks to a multiyear deal, or retain the services of one mr Buehrle.
  14. So yeah lets get Minor, Delgado and a A-level bat. LETS DO THIS CMON.
  15. Look at it this way - The Sox aren't winning anything this year without Dunn and Rios coming around. If those guys start hitting then they can win with Dayan in Qs place.
  16. Brown would be huuuuge but it ain't gonna happen. Singleton would be sweet, and maybe a Brody Colvin as well.
  17. In, while attempting to future proof the team a bit. Get some new, young starters and an OF or 3B while not totally disintegrating the team.
  18. Hey maybe the Angels need another crappy, overpaid outfielder. MMMWhatcha say Arte?
  19. mlbtr is reporting that some think Pence is off the market. With Beltran moved, does this make Q the best available bat? Time to go farm-raping.
  20. Morel might be benched for two games because the two starters we've faced (especially Masterson) are notoriously tough on righties. It might also have something to do with him not drawing a walk yet.
  21. True, I just hope it doesn't cost any games.
