  1. This discussion has been had before, last year really, and the answer seemed to be that firing someone at least shows that there is some sense of accountability in the organization, which is something I think we all waved bye-bye to long ago. Loyalty is a double edged sword and keeping guys like Cox around year after year can really come back to hurt a team.
  2. I am fully confident that the offense will start to turn things around, just in time for the starting pitching to crap the bed.
  3. Cripes i'd be happy if Dunn just made contact at this point.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) Why does it feel that I'm the only person who thinks the Tigers have the most talent in the AL Central? Because they don't? I mean Verlander and Miggy are phenomenal but beyond that its really paltry. Then again, this is a pretty barren division. I think the Twins and Sox still have more talent collectively.
  5. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) just feeling bad for Danks Definitely, the dude has done a hell of a job so far and has an 0-2 record to show for it. So at what point do we look at the slow starts as less a product of talent than outside factors? This team is clearly better than last years but is quickly headed in the same direction. I know its early and all but digging a hole to climb out of is never a good way to run a team.
  6. While I don't believe the Indians pitching will continue to post a 2-something ERA, i'm less convinced that the Royals are a mirage, plus they have some great talent likely to debut right around the time the bad players start to regress.
  7. yeah not sure how many times a team can pull a 25-5 run out of their butts. I'm guessing somewhere around 1.
  8. We could sell Teahen to finance Dunn's Cheeto habit
  9. Bye Stefan! I had enjoyed tracking your not-so-rapid rise through the WS organization. Hopefully you get a shot somewhere.
  10. Red sox - 98-64 Yankees - 90-72 Rays - 85-77 Blue Jays - 83-79 OriLOLs - 72-90 White Sox - 90-72 Twins - 88-74 Tigers - 84-78 Indians - 70-92 Royals - 62-100 Rangers - 90-72 A's - 86-76 Angels - 75-87 M's - 62-100 Phils - 98-64 Braves 91-71 Mets - 77-85 Marlins - 75-87 Nats - 75-87 BREW CREW - 89-73 Cards - 88-74 Reds - 84-78 Cubs - 73-89 Stros - 69-93 Buccos - 60-102 Rox - 91-71 Giants - 89-73 Doyers - 80-82 Snakes - 79-83 Pads - 73-89 No method, just logic and bias.
  11. Q, Beckham bad - 85-88 wins Q, Beckham good - 90+ wins SCIENTIFIC LIKE
  12. Linebrink replacement. I think its an upgrade and will probably be for less money per annum. I hate these longterm deals for relievers but not much you can do in this market. Uncle Jerry is digging deep this year.
  13. crawford still to angels im guessing. beltre back to red sox lee to yankees rangers acquire zack grienke tigers resign maggs just some guesses, but it looks like with more pieces falling into place, its easier to get a picture of what is going to happen.
  14. Russell Martin is a free agent. Also all the hand wringing last offseason was a bit premature as DJ Carrasco was NT again.
  15. Man remember when J Russell Martin was considered one of the best young catchers in the game? LA just non tendered him. Damn.
  16. Rasmus. That is probably what it would take. Sox would have to chip in a prospect as well. I wouldn't do it though, as I like Becks and think he will have a good 2011.
  17. Crawford: Angels (6/$115M) Werth: Giants/Tigers if they don't retain Maggs (4/$75M) Lee: Yankees (6/$130M) Beltre: Tough one. Angels? Red Sox? (4/$50M) Konerko: Dodgers (3/$35M) Dunn: Tigers (3/$40M)? Tough to gauge a value for this guy, it really depends on what league he ends up in. Victor Martinez: Texas (3/$45M)
  18. AAA playing 1b and learning to draw a walk until whatever time it is he is needed. Probably midseason or hopefully later.
  19. Of course Norman Bates has no idea how to use a knife. He's a nebbish-y mamas boy from the sticks. and she is dancing, in a sense, to try to avoid the stabs. I don't know how it could be "acted" better. The editing is a marvel. I really don't see any weight to your argument that it is an "overrated" scene, whatever that means.
  20. Man I almost can't believe I had the highest ranking of Nightmare at #7.
