Team could probably win 80 games in a good year, 75 or so on average.

Why would he go to the Angels when they have Morales for cheaper? He'll be Sox or an NL team, there aren't really any AL teams that need to pay 10 mil for a 1B next year.

Sale might even start in AA as the pitching coach there seems to be more highly regarded by the org. If he is going to be a starter he should absolutely be in the minors for at least part of the season.

I'd say he won't get 3 years because of his age and because he isn't thought of as an elite hitter. I could see him getting something like Abreu got from the Angels - 2/18-20. He's a very good hitter and he has a decent chance to be worth that money but there is risk attached, obviously.

You're right, it won't be popular, because it's stupid. Change has to come from the top, and Sox fans won't stop being cynical until they are conditioned to expect victory instead of defeat. Its the Sox that don't deserve a WS, not the fans, because there have been some very poor decisions made over the last couple of offseasons that could have easily remedied the problems plaguing the team.

Well its not like Marcum is a top of the order guy. We probably lose a win or more going from Peavy to Hudson. Pitching is definitely an issue and a lot of these guys won't require emptying the farm.
