Yup, LD% is league-last 16.2. Pretty normal FB rate but GB rate is too high. -

QUOTE (daggins @ May 8, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) Actually they are 12th in MLB in walks and dead last in strikeouts. The problem is, largely, that the team is not hitting the ball well. The Sox LD% must be stunningly low. Oh and the starting pitching has stunk. That never helps. -

Another dinger for Dayan. Guess the April doldrums wore off.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) Let it all out, fellas! Vent! Damn Kenny! Damn Ozzie! Damn everyone to White Sox hell! Seriously, fellas, put yourself in KW's position. What the hell would you suggest he do? Think about it rationally and reasonably....what would suggest he do? I would suggest next time he gets guys who can play baseball well.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) I think its one of the games that if bullpen keeps us in it, we come back and win. I've not had this feeling once this year, even when it has happened, and especially not against a pitcher like Eveland. This offense is not going to have a shot against even decent pitching as constructed.
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 6, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) It's only 2-0 guys, we can come back. You haven't watched this team much have you. Besides, the "There's still lots of game left" argument cuts both ways.

Berk is a very good hitter, even now. He'd obviously be a huge boost on the left side. I'm not sure who he would replace, but it seems likely it would cut into Quentin's and Pierre's playing time first. The Sox can take on a lot of that salary, honestly. They were willing to pony up for Damon and have said they can add. As always, the hidden cost is the young talent given up to get him.
-
I doubt he'd even put up a line that good, but beyond that he's a corner outfielder, he's 26, and he has almost a 5-1 k/BB ratio in AAA.
-
This team can't seem to get any two facets of their game working together at the same time.
-
Predictions: 15-11 Pitching is better, Buehrle and Garcia continue to struggle Offense remains really bad but Beckham and AJ bounce back. PK cools off a bit but finishes May with 19 dingers Randy Goes to Charlotte, pen remains decent.

If you are JR. who is on your BIG BOARD to replace KW?

Hahn. But KW isn't going anywhere yet. -
At least he had more K's than walks tonight.

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) Joel Skinner might be interesting. But, there's no point to "Fire Ozzie" threads now anyway. If he goes, it'll be after the season. If he goes after the season, maybe La Russa comes back. Ozzie goes somewhere else - Braves? -

Probably Coop, although if he cans Oz and the team doesn't improve, its his ass. -
I just feel like Ozzie will be the first to go. Generally teams with a lot of expectations can only lose this badly for so long before something gets shook up.
-
Yeah it's only a matter of time now.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Let's not get too worked up over a bad outing here. Two bad starts, but I agree.

Fielder is actually less desirable than either AGon or a lesser bat like Berkman or Hawpe because of his contract, his body, his agent, and his price in terms of talent.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) For example, the 2008 White Sox were much better than 2008 Twins....but their overall BARISP, especially in late innings....almost did us in. That's the one thing that stuck out to me the most about that season, and the fact they were so clutch at home. They were insanely good, as bad as we were last year and this year with RISP or in late inning, "clutch" comebacks. WE almost NEVER came back from behind in the late innings in 2009. We've done it 3-4 times already this year, which is a GREAT sign of resilience and team character/chemistry IMO. But what happened to our "clutchability/spurtability" offensively at USCF last year? That's a HUGE mystery for KW and the FO (Gellinger/Hahn, etc.) to solve from a strategic standpoint. It wasn't lower attendance numbers decreasing homefield advantage, that's a stupid and idiotic excuse. Look at Beckham's home and road splits, for example. NOTE TO KW: We could have had Fred Lewis for a LOT cheaper price than Juan Pierre. And signed another hitter w/ the savings. And more players like Adam Lind would be helpful, the most underrated hitter in baseball, or most unknown close to great hitter. Basically we didn't have very many good baseball players in 2009. We seem to have more in 2010. Also I think Josh Willingham is maybe the most overlooked very good hitter. Lind is getting there though. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) I should have said inexperienced then, not young. At any rate, Peavy needs to start acting like an ace, though starting pitching is the least of this team's worries. Actually, right now its a pretty big worry. Peavy and Floyd are, ERA wise, two of the worst starters in the AL. The Sox desperately need those two to come around if they expect to compete. Floyd pulled this same act last year, so I expect he will be fine. Peavy is more worrisome.
