  1. Personally, it became Juan Pierre when we got him. Other than that, yeah, Linebrink. Kots will be worth the money but we could have gotten a better player for 1.5 mil in this market.
  2. Well, considering the lineup is two of our worst starters, some bench guys and triple-a fodder, and the best pitcher scheduled over the two games is a long relief candidate, I think i'll go to bed early.
  3. So uh, is it a tendon or a ligament? I wonder what the downtime is gonna be like. Is it something where he'll be back in a couple months or is that pretty much it for his season?
  4. No real reason besides it being the most badass jam I can think of.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) Makes about as much sense as Across the Universe.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a5LvUrIIqw...feature=related The major difference being that one is a joke and the other isn't.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) I have no idea what I just watched...... maybe this will help you clear your head.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) Huh? The line from Pulp Fiction is, "Check out the big brain on Brett". Sorry, was getting at this:
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) Brett Brit?
  9. ANDERSON-FIELDS AWARD: Jayson Nix DANNY WRIGHT AWARD: Sergio Santos PABLO OZUNA AWARD: De Aza. Wouldn't it be a shock though if Lillibridge took it?
  10. He's still one of the best pure power hitters in the game, and an average/slightly below average 1B defensively. He is miles better than Dunn, and is paid accordingly. I'd still rather have Werth, though.
  11. If a midseason AGon trade happens, i'd think the M's are the most logical choice. They could be in a playoff chase (unlike the O's), they have an average 1B (unlike Red Sox) and they have better trade pieces than us. If it gets to next offseason, then the Sox (both colors) have a better shot, since the Padres won't be able to demand high end MLB guys like Ellsbury or Beckham anymore. Also maybe we get some breakout guys in our system this year that give us better pieces than we have now.
  12. He might be more attainable due to his contract but I still wouldn't bet on it.
  13. SLG, OBP, and wOBA - Quentin BABIP - Pierre UZR - Beckham or Ramirez K/9 - Jenks FIP - Peavy (Thornton for relievers)
  14. AVG - Pierre HR - Quentin RBI - Beckham or Q SB - Pierre Wins -Peavy or Floyd K's - PV 2B - Beckham 3B - Pierre BB - Quentin HBP - Quentin Hits - Pierre Saves - Jenks
  15. A couple more pizza joints Art of Pizza - Pretty solid deep dish Pequod's - Too bready for me to really love but they melt cheese over the edge crust in a way that is really tasty.
  16. I don't have any concrete evidence, but based on some of what has been said by Sox brass re: Teahen, I expect him to hit higher in the lineup than 8th or 9th.
  17. I voted 20% but I think its probably between 0 and 20. Maybe 15%.
  18. Normally i'd say yes, but a couple million is chump change for Ilitch. He will spend to win and driving Damon's price from 5 to 7 mil won't stop him from adding $ later if the Tigers need help.
  19. It doesn't bother me too much, since it is likely that in the near future he will eat up ~25% of the Twins payroll.
  20. The Twins are definitely not a scrappy slap-hitting offense anymore (I kind of doubt they ever were). The middle of their lineup is pretty beastly. Morneau/Mauer/Kubel/Cuddyer/Thome is an awful lot of power. With that in mind, I fail to see how the grass is going to make their offense worse. I am not sure how the outfield defense will be affected by the grass but I can only imagine, given what i've heard about playing on turf, that it should improve marginally or be static. Imagine the irony of a Twins team being blasted by their fanbase for being station to station base cloggers.
  21. Really? The only position I see that they upgraded defensively is SS. They actually downgraded their outfield defense by trading Gomez. I think the Sox have better outfield D and comparable to slightly inferior infield D. I also don't see their pen as being much better than the Sox. Definitely the team to beat so far, but lets not act like they're thrashing us in every area of the game.
  22. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) Isnt Abreu still out there? Naw, Halos snatched him up right away. 2/18 I think.
