  1. oh well, might as well close the other thread now so we can focus on this one.
  2. Machado 5% Harper 10% Both - .5% It'd be fun, but it ain't happening.
  3. lol cmon, Hawk was the GM of this franchise...
  4. Yeah, pretty much. None of these moves break the franchises back. Its all very dispiriting and "wreaks" of failure but what else can you do?
  5. Yeah, absolutely. I don't see why that would make a difference? Aside from the Cubs and Yankees being traditionally strong teams, so maybe boosting their odds from like 25% to 30%.
  6. I don't think there's any back channel communication here, I just think they brought him in because it might boost their chances from like 5% to 7%.
  7. I'm kind of in the opposite camp from the rest of ya'll, seemingly. If the Sox are trying such a seemingly desperate tactic, I kind of think they know they have almost no shot. But they're gonna shoot it anyways. Just have to watch.
  8. I'm saying the chances of signing either of the "whales" remains very slim, and the Sox have 3 1B/DH types on their roster, and they're paying at least 9MM more for that privilege. Plus, whatever you happen to think about Alex Call. I haven't liked any of the moves made this offseason, tbh.
  9. You can say they're going down swinging but to me it just looks pathetic.
  10. I mean, they can try, but they're going to be stuck with a less flexible, more expensive roster with less prospects and no Harper/Machado.
  11. What's up with raBBit is that he's probably right. Not definitely, but probably. It takes a long time to wash the stink of failure off a team, and this offseason will likely end up showing just how far you can go and still fail.
  12. Well, the other Twitter guy (the one who called his source "unreliable") said his source is a player. Maybe it's the same source. If that is the case, he might be blowing smoke on this but did have insight into the Bour signing. Anyways, as big as the inevitable Harper deal will be, there should be some smoke from the national guys soon, if something is really coming together.
  13. They would have plenty of time to get this done. They have a very creative FO so I have no doubt they would be able to get where they need to.
  14. One correct signing is not a long track record, but also, this seems the most likely outcome, which is why I am going to believe it for now.
  15. Great, let them keep tearing it up. Jose will be gone next year and neither of them are as good at catching as Grandal anyways.
  16. Yes, kind of, but I have a hard time believing Maldonado is going to get more than 1 year. Anyways, this is small potatoes but indicates a greater flaw in the way the White Sox evaluate players. That is why I don't care for it.
  17. I just don't know why they couldn't have kept Kevan Smith if they don't care about C defense, because signing McCann clearly indicates they do not care about C defense.
  18. I think the Sox have trouble evaluating catchers.
  19. You can have all those thing and still demand you be compensated fairly. It's pretty disingenuous to suggest otherwise.
  20. I want the Sox to get guys who are good at baseball. Full stop. I want Machado on this team.
  21. They're beefing up the pen because they aren't going to be adding a significant piece to the rotation.
