  1. Giants, too. There are also some teams that could surprise. I'd be surprised if the Braves DIDNT make a run at him, and who knows what the Rockies will do. I do think his AL market is limited but there's still plenty of possible suitors.
  2. I'd personally go Harper - Phils 10% Sox 5% Field - 85% Machado- Yanks - 15% Sox - 5% Field - 80% I dunno I usually take the field since it's 28 other teams in this case.
  3. I included him in my offseason plan for like, 3/54. I think he could be somewhere between my guess and yours.
  4. Probably not. Donaldson might not get 100MM but he is going to get paid. Same with Brantley and Familia. I really don't think Corbin is getting as much money as you guys think. He might say 100MM, but didn't Encarnacion expect to get like, 100MM too?
  5. First M's domino to fall. Zunino to Rays for Mallex Smith. Weird trade, but its Dipoto.
  6. So that will be what, 4 consecutive years the Sox will have won the offseason? What's their record during that period?
  7. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-estimate-of-every-teams-payroll-room-2/ This gives some idea. Basically, a bunch of rebuilding teams, the Sox, Phils, Twins, and the big boys (LAD and NYY). It'd be interesting if the Jays decided on a short rebuild, they have tons of space.
  8. I think they will genuinely go hard after both and then adjust based on reaction and pursue the more likely. I still don't think they sign either, but i'm encouraged that the early buzz is SPEND.
  9. They'll absolutely run a lowball offer for both, something like 8/240, and then when that doesn't even get close, Hahn will say the same thing he always does when he strikes out.
  10. If this rebuild fails, unfortunately, the person most responsible will not be able to be fired.
  11. I'd say a pre-arb catcher who might be an above average hitter is more valuable to a team in the Sox position (that is, not competitive) than Jon Gray.
  12. If he sucks at framing, why would other teams trade valuable pieces for him? Especially a team with a precarious pitching situation of their own? Also, it's not like the Sox are swimming in defensive wizards behind the plate. Smith is awful and Collins is almost certainly a 1B. Who takes his place? It seems like you're creating a giant hole to fill a smaller hole.
  13. Counterpoint - why trade him then? Especially for a SP with fewer years of control?
  14. What on earth is going on here? The Rockies aren't trading Jon Gray for our junk drawer, and they certainly aren't shipping back prospects to boot. Why even do this exercise if you aren't going to bother with being realistic?
  15. Off the top of my head: Non tender Avi, Farquhar Sign Michael Brantley 3 yr 48MM Sign Dallas Keuchel 4 yr 84MM Sign Trevor Cahill, 2 yr 18MM Trade Nate Jones for, I dunno, Jake Lamb Trade Blake Rutherford, Dane Dunning and Leury for Odubal Herrera CF Herrera, RF Brantley, LF Bessss, 1B Abreu, 2B Moncada, SS Anderson, 3B Lamb, C Narvaez, DH Palka/Davidson / Bench Yolmer, Wellington, Engel, Rondon SP Rodon, Keuchel, Lopez, Cahill, Giolito / RP Hamilton, Burr, Fry, Covey, Minaya, Bummer, 7th spot to whoever pitches best in ST ~90 to 100MM payroll, I think. I dunno, this team isn't going to be good.
  16. Well i've been doing those Fangraphs contract crowdsource things and I pegged Ryu as getting roughly double that over 3 years. That feels conservative though, he'll probably get more.
  17. In all seriousness, I also end up with two of these - what I think the Sox should do, and what I think they will do. What I think they will do is depressing me, so i'll probably just ignore it this season.
  18. Buy the Cubs and trade their entire roster to the White Sox, replace their players with circus clowns
  19. When national guys say Chicago, they mean the Cubs. So I don't think he's a realistic option. Also, paying a manager is not Jerry's MO.
