Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson
Well hopefully he signs with the Mets and the Sox keep their draft picks.
-
Center Field
They'll probably still sign Cano.

Fielder to Texas for Kinsler
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) It doesn't really matter. As soon as Miggy starts to decline, they're done. Apparently they will just trade him when this happens.

Extend Scherzer, sign Nathan, maybe even McCann.

Is there a market for Dunn
There aren't a lot of options that are better than Dunn currently on the roster or in free agency. The upshot of that is that if a contender needs a lefty power bat at the deadline they might be more inclined to eat more of Dunn's remaining contract. Hold on to him for now.

White Sox pitching #1 in fWar from 2005 to 2013
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 09:35 AM) #23 in C WAR - 13.1 #22 in 1B WAR - 13.8 #29 in 2B WAR - 6.4 #14 in SS WAR - 21.3 #30 in 3B WAR - 1.5 #28 in LF WAR - 8.6 #30 in CF WAR - 17.7 #28 in RF WAR - 16.9 Thank you. Its even worse when you see it all at once.

Roy Halladay
It would be kind of neat to have a probable hall of famer on the roster. However, it doesn't seem to make sense for a team that A. Has a pretty strong rotation already and B. Has faint hope of competing next year, to sign Halladay. Maybe the Royals or Angels will grab him.

White Sox pitching #1 in fWar from 2005 to 2013
Those are only the worst offenders. The Sox have top-15 production in only one position, and bottom 3 in 5 or 6 positions. The numbers make you appreciate KW's unique approach. Its sort of a miracle they even had any winning seasons.

2 Realistic trade options I came up with
Seattle needs offense as bad as the Sox do, they aren't trading one of the only hitters they have. Gose is bad but still probably has more value than Beckham. A realistic return for Beckham is hard to imagine, mostly because it will be brutally underwhelming. Like, if we're lucky its a similar return as Thornton.

White Sox pitching #1 in fWar from 2005 to 2013
Looking at the worst offenders on the hitting side and its no surprise the Sox are dead last in production from 3B and CF over that time span. They're in the bottom five in nearly every position. Those non-awful positions are also no surprise - 1B, SS, C, DH. Of those, only SS is not in the bottom 10. There has to be some balance here. That is unforgivably poor.

Blue Jays reportedly interested in Gordon Beckham
I dunno, with such a high draft pick, I am sort of inclined to hold on to as many as possible. A high 2nd round pick is still pretty useful.
-
Pito Abreu
Hold on to that jersey until he has his first MVP season. Q - Do you think he will suffer from Alexei-itis (aka Blanket syndrome - gotta get back to the dugout and under those blankets!) in his first seasons in Chicago?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) And sign an Edwin Jackson clone. Ubaldo Jimenez?

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
I might be da-man here but: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jose-abreus-swing/ Swing mechanics guy looks at Jose Abreu, likes what he sees.
-
Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
Since he is asking for 300 mil, and given the money being thrown around the last couple years, i'm guessing he gets 200 at least.
-
Center Field
the sox have bigger needs than CF and only so many means to upgrade. keep ADA, as frustrating as he is.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) Grandy will also likely get a qualifying offer which would cost the Sox a draft pick for signing him. Very true. I would def. rather have the second round pick and Abreu than Grandy. Right now the wish list is down to Salty, maybe a trade for some infield depth, and a bonafide lefty in the pen. That puts the Sox on the road to legitimacy.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
I doubt Grandy would get this kind of money, or this many years. I like Granderson, and the problem with Abreu is that he is a total unknown at the MLB level.
-
Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
Expected is just code for "prohibited from saying they signed him". I will still have some anxiety due to the "nothing official" game and MYSTERY TEAM! but it looks good for the Sox.

How Should Rick Hahn Fix The White Sox
The rebuild already started. This team lost nearly 100 games - there's no point in stopping halfway in and calling it "retooling".

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
I think a one for one swap would work. I just think that Trumbo + is too much.
