  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Alexei wouldn't clear waivers, would he? Probably, not many contenders are looking for a SS and he is due a sizable (though deserved) paycheck next year. I doubt they trade him, this is just one of those Sunday lineups.
  2. Since the end of the 2011 season i've really liked Dunn, and by all reports he was a model teammate. Good luck with the Athletics, ya big lug.
  3. why in gods name would they trade for hamels
  4. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) Trout just doesn't have the bat. I went Felix. Trout's bat is still mighty impressive. In the AL, his wOBA is an amazing .405 ( I believe league average is around .320 or so), second only to... Jose Abreu If you measure by wRC, an overall measure of runs created, he ranks #1 in the AL. #2 is... Jose Abreu So basically Trout is Jose Abreu playing CF, which is why he is considered so valuable. For the AL I'd go 1. Trout 2. Felix 3. Abreu
  5. I get the feeling this is a silly conversation to have since the Sox core is already starting to be locked in long term and the Cubs core is still very fluid. Probably 1 or 2 of those guys moved this offseason, in addition to a large expenditure of money. Lets check back in a year or so mmkay?
  6. Cubs, doy. More depth, better talent, closer to the majors
  7. I'm just not sure there is a better move to address LF and add left handed power without giving up significant talent. Hahn also has to address significant rotation and bullpen issues, and Rasmus will only cost money.
  8. Dickerson has definitely benefited from the Coors effect, although his OPS away is a still-respectable .820 Brown is definitely a butcher, although the Sox have never prioritized OF defense, to their detriment.
  9. Based on what Hahn has said (about "another Eaton like trade") and what the chatter has been RE: Sox rumors, I would guess Dom Brown and Pedro Alvarez will be two names heard often. As lefty power hitters having lousy years in organizations strongly focused on winning, they could be buy-low candidates as Eaton was. No idea what they would cost though. Hahn could also target someone like this: http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=t...itting/2014/ALL As an outfielder in a system deep in star-caliber OF talent, and having a breakout season in AA, he might be attractive to a team like the Sox.
  10. I won't be worrying about this because it will never happen.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) Basing rankings of prospects off of what they did and have done at the Rookie level is not good advice. Let them do more and maybe we can make some better judgments. Exactly. The disparity between all the White Sox flameouts and the other guys should tell you about how much you can derive from Pioneer League performance.
  12. Superstars: Stars: Tim Anderson MLB Regulars: Courtney Hawkins Marcus Semien Cleuluis Rondon Micah Johnson Trey Michalczewski Bench/Utility/Role: Carlos Sanchez Trayce Thompson Matt Davidson Jacob May Saladino Wilkins Probably traded to a team that can use him: Rangel Ravelo Just a guy: Jake Peter Keon Barnum Everyone else
  13. I think the point is that none of those guys panned out. I know each prospect is their own person, etc, but Jake Peter is just a guy right now.
  14. Montas - 2IP, 0H, 0R, 3BB, 4K Adams in now.
  15. I guess everyone is watching the Bears but Frankie Montas apparently started the AZL Sox game.
  16. Add Andre Wheeler to group 3. Also hoping that Snodgress turns into a good reliever.
  17. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) No hindsight here. On the original thread announcing the trade, I said I didn't like it (day after the trade cuz I wanted to think about it before posting). As I posted elsewhere, I called a couple of pals in Phoenix who follow the Dbacks and asked them about it, and they said the team did not like Davidson after a significant cup of coffee, blah blah blah. I was quickly criticized, and I don't know if anyone else here agreed with me or not. Now some do. FWIW I still disagree with you.
  18. Wonder what the Reds would want for Latos. MLBTR had a blurb saying they were "dangling" him at the deadline. About to get expensive but definitely good and still young.
  19. Try to get a discount on Hochevar, maybe.
  20. Becks DFA Dunn waivered Danks keep
  21. Maybe Carlos Sanchez to Blue Jays for Aaron Loup?
