  1. I guess best case scenario is Ravelo ends up a Billy Butler type. After tonight, I believe he leads the Southern League in doubles.
  2. Look who's back Shady's back 287/360/333 on the season. Started slow but hitting 400 over the last ten games. Still pulling for the kid, its always great to have MI depth.
  3. Well at least tomorrow this will be over, and we likely won't have to watch Paulino pitch anymore, at least in a starting capacity.
  4. But yeah I do recall now hearing that his velo was fine. I want to say try him out of the pen but that usually requires the ability to throw anything for strikes.
  5. Watching the Texas game now, he isn't throwing many fastballs. The one I did notice was an 85mph fastball that sank. It was a ball.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) Abreu striking out all the time starting to become a real issue. If he K's in his next two at bats, his K rate will be right around... 20% Not anywhere near a problem.
  7. Unfortunately Rienzo has not been very good at Charlotte. There isn't much behind Paulino right now.
  8. Normally in a rebuilding year you hold on to guys but yeah, he's toast. Fastball ain't fast and the slow stuff just spins.
  9. I know BABIP is not a final arbiter or anything but Abreu's is right around .225 Better times are ahead.
  10. This just means the Sox will have to pay less to make him go away.
  11. Nope, team is definitely crap. You guys are buying into small sample size. This is a team with huge holes in the rotation, the lineup, the defense and the bullpen They are coming along nicely but don't be fooled by this offensive hot streak. Team is bad.
  12. All about Conor 2.0 The dour on this kid is incredible I tell ya
  13. Common cautions apply, its early, etc, but Myles Jaye may end up the best pitching prospect out of B'ham this season.
  14. Some people argue that we live in a heliocentric universe, but White Sox fans know our universe is truly Avilocentric.
  15. Dayan is getting it done. I'd be ok with him taking some of Dunn's time at DH in order to play De Aza as well.
  16. May is struggling quite badly but its still very early. Anderson is hitting for more power than I thought he would, but there's a bit too much K in his game. Presumably Carolina league pitchers are still busting Courtney with offspeed stuff. Showing good adjustments so far. So many Ks tho.
  17. If they are going to sit Avi i'd rather they play De Aza in LF and Tank in RF (it looks like he played in RF a little in the Royals series).
  18. For all the talk of Major League Baseball in Portland or Montreal, it doesn't seem like there is much incentive right now for expansion or relocation.
  19. This makes it pretty explicit: "Davidson is in a bit of a similar position. Thanks to those almost two months in the majors last season with the Diamondbacks, he's got 50 days of service. If he is on the Opening Day roster, and remains on it the whole season, he'll have accrued well over a year of service time and be on track to be a free agent after the 2019 season. But, if instead the White Sox have him "work on some things" at Charlotte until 61 days have passed, he won't and the White Sox will control him until through 2020." From the SSS article about service time. 61 days is right around June 1st.
  20. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) I remember Johnson's Fastball in the 92-95 range last September. Today he was 87-90. What happened? I hope it is a late onset of dead arm and he returns to his previous velocity because he was throwing meat today. If the velocity woes continue for another 3-4 starts, they should send him down. Is it possible he is hurt and not telling anyone? I was baffled when he threw his fastball consistently around 89 in the first inning. It happens to a lot of pitchers this time of year. I'm not concerned about it now but if it lasts longer than April, then yeah, be concerned.
  21. Did Ravelo already get hurt? Lifted for Christian Marrero in the 5th. Seems like he misses significant time every season.
  22. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) It's March 12, 2019.... predict what all these young guys will end up looking on this date (regardless of what team they happen to be playing on). Here's a scale to use: 0 = never plays in the Bigs 1 = cup of coffee/outright bust 2 = useful role player or specialist for a couple years 3 = very useful bench/backup/utility/MR option 4 = borderline starting position player OR high quality setup man OR 5th starter, several seasons in the bigs 5 = average starting position player all around OR quality closer OR #4 type of starter, several seasons in the bigs 6 = above average starting position player all around OR dynamite closer OR #3 starter 7 = generally an All-Star level position player OR #2 type of starter 8 = perennial All-Star position player OR true ace SP 9 = HOF candidate Here are the names, no particular order: Jose Abreu - 6-7 Keon Barnum - 1 Rangel Ravelo - 0 Marcus Semien - 3-4 Micah Johnson - 0 Carlos Sanchez - 4 Leury Garcia - 3 Clelius Rondon - 1-2 Connor Gillaspie - 4 Matt Davidson - 4-5 Trey Michalczewski - 5 Avisail Garcia - 5-6 Dayan Viciedo - 4 Adam Eaton - 6 Jordan Danks - 3 Jared Mitchell - 1 Trayce Thompson - 3 Keenyn Walker - 0 Adam Engel - 1 Jacob May - 5-6 Courtney Hawkins - 5 Tim Anderson - 6-7 Dan Black! - 1 --- Chris Sale - 7-8 Jose Quintana - 6 Erik Johnson - 5-6 Chris Beck - 3-4 Scott Snodgress - 2 Daniel Webb - 5 Nate Jones - 6 Andre Rienzo - 3 Charles Leesman - 2
  23. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) Huh? He's bad. We've got about 6 guys in the system that could be better in the two hole. He isn't good but his defense alone makes him more valuable than the last two years of DV if neither of them progress.
  24. The only thing that makes it logical in my mind is if there is more to the Twins/others interest in De Aza and the Sox end up flipping both guys and rolling with Saunders.
