Mike Trout, 2020? Better strike next year, though.
Jerksticks replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Trout could sign a deal for any number of years: 4 years, 6 years, 8 years, even 9 years or 12 years, and for any amount. Seems $40M AAV is the starting point but I could see him getting $50-$60M. Hell, Stanton, Greinke & Kershaw are $30M players and add Harper & Machado to that list soon. Then you got your other guys like Bogaerts and Goldschmidt who could cash in and maybe they slide on the backside of deals for Moustakas (who you mention- $25M for 5.5yrs?). So you’re looking at shelling out a quarter of payroll for Goldschmidt, Bogaerts and a Rendon. Rendon is a wildcard; Does he resign? Does he go out West and join Kershaw & Hill (if he doesn’t leave. He might want a reunion with the cubs)? Does Arenado sign a 4 year deal like Harper and Machado? Think it all depends on Lemahieu and the direction the Rockies want to go- maybe the Rockies back up the wagon for trout and offer him the $65M AAV K. Perry talked about. Seems ridiculous to me. Thats why we should put feelers out for a Sale reunion (hopefully he talks his other Florida buddies into joining the Sox). All depends on Grandal for Sale and Rendon. Arenado is a pipe dream but that’s probably what the Yankees thought about Stanton, Judge & Andújar. Just look at the history of baseball and back in the late 80s before the Thomas Griffey revolution. I agree though on Moustakas & Grandal being the X factors. -
Sox still in the running for Harper/Machado

I agree. I think he signs pretty quick after the new year; just seems like he knows his options more than Harper does. -

You said this as fact (which would require a source) instead of speculating like the rest of us dumb fans are -
I don’t think he is worth it. If you look exclusively at WAR then maaaaybe at that price. But his offense is terrible. What if you had 9 guys with good defense and decent WARs and all had .700 OPSs

Just kidding around. Probably similar age. Same with the Hurt. I loved hearing Hawk say “here’s karkovice, he’s 0-3. Officer is due”. I was a big fan of JB too.

Sox trade for Yonder Alonso; Alex Call to CLE
Jerksticks replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed. It has to happen at some point. If he wants to stay here long term I’m sure he will do whatever is best for the team. I doubt it’s the point of contention we sometimes make it out to be -

sad to see Call go. -

Right??! but then again if the families are super close then maybe they want to live in the same city. If we traded for Machado first then maybe the Indians would have charged us more for Alonso. -

Kinda pathetic if we signed his family in order to say “hey we signed yonder for you.” Kinds creepy actually. I hope that’s not what this is. -

Is this really for Call? Damn. Alonzo should have been close to free. I was looking at Call as a future trade piece for somebody good. -
Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside
Jerksticks replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is all this Harper talk a smokescreen and we’re really sneakily pushing Machado? -

Yea for sure. It would suck to be a player for one of these big dogs only to get all contracty-weird at the finish line. The times are a changing on the south side -

I think Kenny & Rick love Soxtalk, so I have no doubt that one of their secret screennames is going to notify us that Santa will be delivering presents this year. I’d look out for that post on here. ??? -

Nice keystroke combination here Cali. Sums it up perfectly. Cubs Harper, Sox Machado would be impossible to read about in Chicago sports media. That can’t happen -
