Yea this is the unique opportunity to get value out of a big FA signing. Anything other than Harper, and I guess Machado too, is just rolling the dice as usual on near-30 FA. I’m not sure it’s a no-brainer. What they need is somebody to give them 200IP with above average results. That would go a long way to preserving all the young arms, especially in the bullpen. Corbin probably checks that box.
