  1. Lind has had a 2.9, and 2.2 oWAR the past two seasons. If he was strictly a DH, that would be a good pick up. Lind is only control for his age 31, and 32 seasons, and only owed 15.5 over the next two seasons.
  2. I don't watch a lot of games being out of market, but according to Fangraphs Eaton had a +12 DRS. I had no idea.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) For the most part, yes, unless there was some underlying cause. If there were an injury that affected a player's talent level but did not ultimately change a player's talent level, you can see certain traits like that "pop up" (pun intended ). However, it also depends on the type of player. For a player as fast as Adam Eaton, I'd rather not see him trying to hit the ball in the air because you will have better batting averages on ground balls versus fly balls, but hits via fly balls will go for more bases. Obviously infield fly balls are always bad for hitters and always good for pitchers, but GB/FB% will depend on the context and the player you're looking at. I see what you're saying. Thank you.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Basically Milton Bradley sucked at The Game of Life, always getting himself into some sort of Twister, and never really able to Connect Four good years together.
  5. I can't believe TB couldn't have called 27 other GMs and said "hey, can you beat Drew Smyly, and Nick Franklin in a trade for David Price?"
  6. I *think* I have a general understanding of what IN/FB%, GB/FB%, and IFFB% mean, but the point of these is that the higher they go up the worse, right? I would assume that more infield flies, more ground balls, and less fly balls leaving the infield are a sign of losing power and strength, no? Anyone want to confirm/deny/re-teach me? Thank you.
  7. When can trades start? Right after the WS, or is it a few days before FA?
  8. Acquire Headley/Panda, Markakis/Bruce, Grandal/Castro. Fix bullpen. Dispose of Danks, Tank. Sorry for being so vague
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 09:24 PM) A lot of people seem to think pretty highly of Super Joe. Not mad that we have him. Maybe if Robin gets "promoted" Joe can be the manager.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) Markakis, Eaton, and Avisail is actually a decent defensive outfield. Isn't Markakis a gold glove RF though (not LF)? Markakis was really, really, f***ing good in RF in 2008. Pretty much been downhill from there using DRS. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...ieldingadvanced
  11. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) For one season, I would take a chance on Lee in a trade that involved Danks. There are some potential upsides to consider... 1- a healthy Lee is a huge improvement over Danks, granted that's an if. 2- Lee has to pitch 200 innings for his 2016 option to vest. If the Sox contend, he pitches and if not they can shut him down and let him walk after the season. 3- Lee would only add roughly 10M more to the payroll leaving plenty of room to get higher salary players to fill holes. 4- Since its likely Lee would only pitch for the Sox in 2015, Lee not only helps the Sox to contending but helps bridge the gap to one of the young Sox pitchers that will hopefully be ready for 2016. I see Lee as a one year commitment kind of guy and a chance for the Sox to rid Danks contract. I admit, its the optimal plan but given the pitching FA market, its not the worst plan either. As for the Papelbon/ Brown proposal. I think you're offering too much to be honest, maybe try substituting Bassitt's name with E.Johnson?I know Papelbon had a statistically good season but 13M for a 33 year old closer is a lot. Isn't Papelbon another guy Philly tried to unload at the deadline and couldn't? High asking price? Lost value due to high salary? Maybe Philly would kick in a few bucks to help offset the expense... I kind of actually like that idea, StRoostifer. But why would Philly do that?
  12. Over the past three seasons, LaRoche put up a slash line of .256/346/458 (804) 118 OPS/119 wRC+. LaRoche is good for like 25ish home runs a year. He would make a decent DH, back up 1B (over the past three years he has been above average at first. LaRoche also bats lefty. As long as he isn't wanting a huge payday, I would love him on here for the right price for 2 years.
  13. Gargo career away at bats*: 258/314/437 (.750), 101 wRC+ -4 career DRS in LF. Not really worth $12MM a year, as mentioned above. *includes 2008 with Oakland
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 09:24 AM) Just need to find some connection between Detroit and Pittsburgh. Leyland.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) LOL. Again, the Red Sox 3 World Championships disagree with the idea that "sabes" lose, especially when EVERY team uses some form of sabermetrics in today's game. Not to mention the two the Cardinals have won using it.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 08:41 AM) No. I like Billy Beane. He's really good at his job. I was hoping Oakland would win it all. Ditto.
  17. 1. A's 2. Nationals 3. Pirates 4. Angels 5. Dodgers 6. Giants 7. Orioles 8. Cardinals 9. Royals 10. Tigers 3-8 can be re-arranged in any order and its whatever.
  18. Couldn't make it to the game in Chicago, and I kind of regret not making a better effort to go. That said, I did go up to Detroit on Tuesday (living only 45 minutes away), and said my goodbye.
  19. I give Alexei a C+. 97 wRC+, and a -4 DRS. Slightly below average batting and fielding, that said, he did accumulate an fWAR of 3.2, so he had to have done something right.
  20. Is there a tie-breaker game? I thought if it ended in a tie Detroit wins the division because of the head-to-head record vs. KC?
  21. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 12:26 AM) Yes, I am aware. And you have to understand that whomever they get in return for Q, would probably not yield that same value, in regards to value on the field, and monetary value. You don't trade Q unless you get a Q back, and if you're going to do that, why trade him in the first place?
  22. You know Q is a top 10 starter in the AL at a super bargain of a price, right?
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 11:04 PM) According to an SSS tweet, yes. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 11:05 PM) We sure did. Coolness. Thank you.
