  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 01:09 PM) So with the Sox, one of the ownership group acts as the CEO of the team, but in Toronto, the ownership group hires it out, that's the difference? My guess is that because the Blue Jays are a subsidiary of Rogers. I'm sure whoever is head of Rogers probably would rather hire a baseball man to run the Blue Jays than have some suit who probably couldn't care less. Again, just my speculation.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) Samardzija isn't even that good, for Christ's sake Agreed.
  3. I would take Shane. Red Sox need a SP. Anyway we could realisticly throw Danks in there?
  4. I hope the Sox, of White, can get Headley.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 06:49 PM) He was on the Dodgers 40-man roster. Because he was injured all year long, and the Dodgers wanted to free up an opening on their 40-man for a prospect (their reasons are their own), they felt they may be able to sneak Onelki Garcia through the waiver wire in able to outright him to AAA (thus, removing him from their roster but keeping him in the organization). They were unsuccessful. This has nothing to do with service time and everything to do with the Dodgers being sneaky or misjudging the market and the White Sox capitalizing and retaining the rights to a guy who has a pretty live arm. I wonder if this is being used in the rumoured trade talks. The Sox very may have wanted Garcia, but I wonder if maybe they're holding him ransom. "Yeah, you can have him back,IF..." Half joking, btw.
  6. Q + prospects for Bruce + Latos, or whomever doesn't sit well with me. I'd rather hold on to Q.
  7. Pure speculation on his end, but Merk spitballed Danks for Papelbon. I can't see Philly doing that, but I sure would.
  8. I believe Brandon Beachy is on his 2nd as well. I remember him being rumoured to the Sox during the 2011 dead line, IIRC.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) And that's probably how JR feels as well. Bringing in reportedly questionable character guys like Belle, AJ or Everett is one thing. Awarding Cabrera with one of the 3-4 or so biggest contracts on the team "as an outsider" is quite another. Of course, they did give Wil Cordero a shot. Jimenez as well. Jose Canseco.
  10. Montero would be a good return given his age (24), contract status (under control until 2021), and is a RH starter. Don't get me wrong here. Maybe I am just overvaluing my own player, but I would still like the Mets to throw in something else if they were to make a deal. Preferably something that would fill another void like C (Plawlecki) since he is blocked by Travis D'Arnaud anyway.
  11. I would want more than Montero for Alexei. I would hope for at least Montero, and Plawecki. Of course you would hope for a Wheeler, or a Syndergaard too.
  12. I had to vote for one in every bracket, but I really only want Headley.
  13. From the Mets I would prefer Rafael Montero + Kevin Plawecki.
  14. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) Why would a rebuilding team like the Mets trade for a 33 year old SS when they have a young budding 23 year old already there in Wilmer Flores? Murphy is at second so where does Flores fit in? Alexei makes zero sense for the Mets and just another reason why Levine is a complete and utter moron. Mets are a close to competing. They only need a SS, and LFer they have a rotation and bullpen. If they think they can compete I could see it. Their payroll is low too.
  15. If Morneau got traded to the Sox he would just straight up retire.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) Yes Thanks.
  17. Free agency starts midnight EST?
  18. That three team trade that fell through before the trade deadline.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) I know Toronto & Montreal aren't THAT close, but I wonder if they would want to keep the Canadian teams in separate leagues, just like the Yankees/Mets, Cubs/Sox, Giants/As, etc. Just my opinion, but I think they would leave them in the AL East. They would be natural rivals with Toronto, who could use a bolt of energy in their fan base since its been 20+ years since they've been to the post-season. Not to mention Montreal being a hockey town, Habs fans don't like the Rangers, and they really don't like the Bruins. So that could carry over to baseball and be huge rivals with the Yankees, and Red Sox.
