  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) I'm a huge fan of Eibner, and it stinks we didn't have a supplemental pick to take him. He would have been a great 2nd pick. Also, it seems that the Sox would have taken Grandal if he was there, as was reported the day after the draft. I can't stress how cool it was to see KW say no to Loux due to his elbow issues. It was great to hear KW make that statement on Loux, it's interesting to hear the Diamondbacks say they were positioning for next year and would rather have next year's seventh pick now than sign Loux, they just made a mistake. Did you get the take that Lauman was really pushing for Loux?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Ha, if Detroit gets Dunn, Sox fans will be in meltdown mode. In reality, the Tigers are in a great position to try and work out an extension with him if they trade for him. Personally, I feel the Tigers should be trying to beef up their pitching. totally agreed, Sox fans will melt down if that happens. KW will make a bold move this week but this development might have driven up the price.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) Unless KW decides to go into selling mode while in first place, there's really no way that it's a public relations issue. Trying to improve the team...even if it doesn't work well...is good press. I agree but Ozzie seems so adamant, reminds me of the Thome situation at Sox fest, are these two not getting along etc........just don't want it to turn into a death spiral.
  4. Does anyone think we are headed for a public relations distraction if KW pulls off a trade, maybe the Score is just trying to make a story but all morning on Hit and Run today they keep playing the clip that Ozzie does not want to make any trades and wants to go with the current roster. I believe play for today and try to win this year, but don't do anything crazy.
  5. Did the Tigers catch a huge break with that Ordonez injury? Didn't he have another vesting options in his contract for like $18 million, was hoping that was exercised to put total pressure on the Tigers.
  6. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Flowers with another bad night. I've been really disappointed in him this season. Likewise, at what point does KW have to really think that he is not ready to be the catcher next year and consider signing AJ to a two year extension.
  7. As I've said before, Sox need to move Gilmore up to see what he can do at AA this year. He is on fire.
  8. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) I would like to congratulate Salgado on his first hit/RBI of the season!!! You called it!! He gets a hit so no we can call off the Salgada watch!
  9. Did Salgado get a hit tonight? Do we need to start the old Buddy Biancalana David Letterman skit for him?
  10. Hawk didn't tell us that Kotsay was in an 0-19 slump and still was batting fifth, c'mon KW go get Berkman or LaRoche if the price is right.
  11. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) i saw it here out on the east coast! Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Seriously, it's nice to have some speed and some d off the bench right now, that is big.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) Salgado 0-24. How's college lookin'? That Kansas recruiting coordinator must feel like he caught a Mulligan on that one.
  13. I hope Petricka gets moved up soon.
  14. Did the Sox pay him $10 million up front or is that the total for the contract, I thought it was a $4 million upfront bonus, but I'm not sure. KW will trade anyone if it helps us win.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 11:35 PM) Just got an update. Brent said he is going to play through it. I didn't realize you could play with a torn labrum, but he is going to give it a shot. MRI to be done next week, and likely surgery in off-season. I would think this still would caution teams away from trading for him (good news for me), but I just hope it doesn't effect him too much. It's his left shoulder (non throwing shoulder) that he hurt at Cal Poly in the past. I'm sure the doctors know better than me, but why play through it, get it done and start the rehab to be ready for next year. He has no trade value now, get healthy!!
  16. I wish they would move Gilmore to Birmingham so we can see if he is ready to take his career a step forward.
  17. I loved it because it was the Sox, if it were the Phillies, Mets, Braves etc.......would not watch. It was interesting.
  18. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) Great peripherals. I want to see him pushed to Kannapolis. Yes, for a college pitcher I hope that he is pushed up soon unless he is on some type of innings count to finish off of his first pro summer.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) Morel with a rare dong. The White Sox were criticized heavily for drafting Morel in the third round when BA and others had him targeted in the sixth round or later, our scouts are proving the pundits right on this one.
  20. If he is hitting, don't mess with him right now. As we learned from Crash Davis in Bull Durham, Don't mess with a winning streak.
  21. I was kind of hoping for Castro tonight as well, but you never know maybe Gavin does not work well with Ramon. I hope Andruw comes into this came still trying to prove he belongs on this team.
  22. I'm for the Sox as well, but we still have 26 games left with the Tigers and Twins. I will love them more if they get another LH bat and another person for the bullpen, when Ozzie cannot turn to Linebrink and Threets other than in mop up time, we need to get some other dependable arms.
  23. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) Thank god. (BTW, I still think Danks runs should be UNearned.) I agree totally, the Rios drop really hurt him but we came through, great win. 26 more games against the Twins and the Tigers though.
