  1. Both Mize and Singer will be on the WatchESPN streaming service for those interested. Singer is such an enigma to me. I've seen him pitch a few games and while he's solid, he doesn't blow me away in the slightest. I never quite understood the 1.1 hype with him. I imagine his stock is mid 1st round at the moment?
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 12:10 PM) I know these rankings can & will change, but who are the top four guys at the moment? Mize, Liberatore, McClanahan, & Hankins/Gorman? Obviously it seems like we’ll probably end up with a pitcher and I’m fine with that. Adding another elite pitching prospect will give us the depth to move some arms to add a cost-controlled bat when the time is right. Sounds about right. Might throw a Madrigal in there. Feel like the Hankins injury dropped his stock a bit. The buzz isn't there at the moment.
  3. Callis been giving his take on Madrigal today. Context is the possibility of him going 1.1. Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB I know what you're saying. But Altuve's path is one of a kind ... A 5-foot-7 guy who may profile better at 2B, you just don't see that type of guy going No. 1 overall. Nick Madrigal can play, no question. Just don't see him going 1-1. @MLBDraft Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB Albies & Madrigal aren't going to have Altuve's power. Bet the under on a small 2B having a .200 ISO every time. My initial comment wasn't meant to denigrate anyone, just to say that profile is not going to wow a team drafting No. 1 overall.
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 07:05 AM) Is he still hurt? Yup. Broken wrist. Sounds like he's not that far off though.
  5. Teddy Cahill @tedcahill Alec Bohm just went deep for Wichita State. Big blast to RCF. Wichita State leads 1-0 in the first. That's his sixth of the year. Just keeps climbing on draft boards
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 03:57 PM) Is anyone else's mlb.tv stream sounding like chipmunks? Yep.
  7. @MLBPipeline 8m8 minutes ago More Luke Bartnicki, a @GTBaseball commit & one of the top 10 #MLBDraft prospects at #NHSI18, takes the mound at 6 p.m. ET. Watch live here: https://atmlb.com/2J14HW3 Preview: https://atmlb.com/2IYGTC1
  8. MLB Pipeline @MLBPipeline Matthew Liberatore lived up to the hype on the big stage of the #NHSI18: 7 IP 2 R 1 H 1 BB 1 HBP 10 K 101 pitches 63 strikes This was without his best stuff or his best velocity for those that didn't watch. His pitchability was on full display here.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 04:18 PM) Thanks for posting. Interesting to see the shakeout of players, but their comments under their picks for the sox were pretty off-base. Would sox fans actually hate madrigal? If he's good you'll find a place for him. We had a pretty good view of how the championship series teams were able to just find spots for best players on field int he last playoffs. I like Madrigal plenty. I think lots of folks would get hung up on the small stature, high floor, and unflashy tools that you get with him though.
  10. Michael Lananna @mlananna 2m Replying to @mlananna Matthew Liberatore hasn't had his best stuff today, yet he's still struck out six in a row. He's a dude. If I'm drafting, I'm taking him 1-1. Polished lefty with four pitches, a fastball up to the mid-90s, generally good command, great feel and projectable. #MLBDraft
  11. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 01:40 PM) That's 5Ks in a row now. 6.
  12. That's 5Ks in a row now.
  13. Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd 57s Mountain Ridge HS (AZ) lefty Matthew Liberatore had some 1-1 hype after a great debut, had a sharp first inning today 92-95, flashed 60 CB and 55 CH. Has been out of sorts rest of the way, mostly 89-91 getting by w/good CB. Still really talented just not up to expectations today
  14. The velocity isn't there, but the curve is. 3Ks with it that inning.
  15. Aaron Fitt @aaronfitt 20s Getting a look at No. 1 #mlbdraft prospect Matthew Liberatore at the NHSI. Laboring a bit early, not a ton of energy, not sharpest stuff/cmd - but obviously a lot to like. Great body, good angle & arm-side life on the fastball (88-92, T93-95), flashes 3 promising offspeed pitches
  16. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 12:47 PM) Its so funny watching like two dozen radar guns right behind home plate be put down after each pitch Haha I came to post the same observation.
  17. Liberatore about to take the mound.
  18. Stream just started.
  19. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 11:40 AM) Liberatore's team plays in the NHSI today. MLB is streaming the game. You can find the link on this page. I don't know if he is pitching, but I'll tune it to check it out. Jonathan Mayo @JonathanMayo 19m Excited to call the game w/@MLB_McMaster, @DaniWex and Flash Gordon that @libby3232 is pitching at @usabaseball's #NHSI18. Watch live here: (link: http://atmlb.com/2J14HW3) atmlb.com/2J14HW3 Liberatore is indeed pitching.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 12:08 PM) I haven't heard Beer's name in forever. What is his status these days? Late 1st round from what I've seen, with stock trending down.
  21. Speaking of position players in the draft. Five College Hitters Rising on Draft Boards: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/fiv...n-draft-boards/ I'd be okay with Bohm working into the top 5.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 10:24 AM) Fwiw, I think it was PerfectGame that said Giants are very interested in Liberatore. Also I think Kiley suggested that Madrigal wasn't a WSox type guy. Correct on Kiley's Madrigal comment. I'm still holding out hope that Swaggerty or some sort of position player forces there way into the top 5. Wouldn't mind Bohm forcing the issue.
  23. NHSI starts today. I await some current takes on Gorman who has been criticized a bit as of late.
  24. Ah draft thread. I missed you.
