2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 12:30 PM) After the Sox success with Hansen, despite the control problems McClanahan's stuff is too good from the left side to ignore. Would not bother me one bit if they went with him. Yep. If they do go pitcher and he's still considered one of the few top college arms I'd be elated with the selection. Lefty that touches 100 with 2 solid secondaries with some command issues? Right up the Sox development alley. Though Swaggerty is my new crush. Still leaning position player. Hard.

Moustakas linked to Sox again
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 06:00 PM) I just don't see the allure of giving of the 45th pick & $2M in slot value for a guy who is basically a league average player when we're still at least a year out from competing. Yep. And likely more than a season out from competing. 2 million in draft flexibility when picking this early is nothing to sneeze at either.

2018 MLB Draft
Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB Good news on Ethan Hankins, potential No. 1 overall @MLBDraft pick. No tears in shoulder, just a muscular issue that should clear up with some physical therapy for a couple of weeks. Left his Saturday start after about 15 pitches, fastball was down to 86-94 that day.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 12:14 PM) I think there is going to be a lot of movement with the college players this season. Jenista, Conine, Gilbert, and Rolison are all guys I'm keeping my eye on. Rolison is especially interesting in that he is a draft eligible sophomore. If he keeps up these gawdy type of numbers, he could easily sneak into the top 5. Swaggerty too. He's the one I'm keeping an eye on the most.

Teddy Cahill @tedcahill 1h1 hour ago That was a left-on-left blast for Swaggerty. He's come out of the gate well this weekend for @SouthALBaseball. 3-for-9, two homers, six runs, eight walks, just one strikeout.

2018 MLB Draft
Vinnie Cervino @vcervinoPG 44m44 minutes ago The stuff has been very good for @USFBaseball LHP Shane McClanahan through two. Touched a few 98s, T99 while sitting low-mid 90s. CH (84-85) has been a real weapon against RHH, showing + w/ nice down action. Easy 70 arm spd & flashed good looking SL (83-86) too #mlbdraft Vinnie Cervino @vcervinoPG Follow Follow @vcervinoPG McClanahan’s ability to add and subtract has been superb tonight. Worked in the low-90s for most of the inning, then 97-97-98-98-99 to K cleanup hitter Michael Busch. #mlbdraft

Swaggerty eh? Conine too. College position player or two in the top 5 would make me happy. Edit. Singer at 22? That certainly bucks the trend.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 11:31 PM) I'd much rather have Liberatore if we're going with a LHP with probability. No injury concerns as well with a team already projecting a TJS guy (Giolito) and a guy coming off shoulder surgery (Rodon). I don't mind Liberatore, but I'm a bit risk averse with prep pitching. The fact that McClanahan had his TJ freshman year, than came back his sophomore year with even better stuff and posted the numbers he did excites me. I see a bit of Sale in him as well, especially with that build. All things being equal I'd prefer a position player but I'll be following McClanahan closely this season.

2018 MLB Draft
Gorman is my far too early hope, but if the Sox decide to go pitching, Shane McClanahan is tantalizing. Sounds like the kind of pitcher that would thrive in the Sox system. "The power lefty missed 2016 with TJ surgery after a big velo jump, but he’s back and the fastball taken another step forward, working 94-97 and hitting 99 mph. McClanahan also has an above-average slider and changeup, but fringy command." https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mlb-draft-r...-2019-and-2020/
