2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 11:08 AM) DirtySox- Who are your top 4 guys at the moment? Still super duper early and everything, but as of right now I'm something like this. 1.) Swaggerty 2.) Gorman 3.) McClanahan 4.) Liberatore 5.) Hankins This is primarily because I'm leaning position player at the moment. Swaggerty still needs to maintain his performance through the year, but the ability to stick in CF, have great plate discipline, and show improved power is what I'm banking on. I can't pass that up. Gorman is a close #1B for me though. McClanahan is still my pitching preference, especially if he starts to show some better command. Lefty that is touching 100 with improving secondaries after coming back from TJ is pretty hot. Would imagine he'd be right up the Sox alley as far as fixing what ails him on the control/command side as well. The reports that Liberatore is sitting around 96 as of yesterday has put him ahead of Hankins for me currently. Especially with the recent injury scare. I think I would have Madrigal at 6 right now. Though I wouldn't know what to do with him if he couldn't be at least an average SS.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 10:15 AM) Would you take all those guys over Gorman? That's a pretty interesting question. I certainly trust the organization in identifying and developing a pitcher they select over a position player. But at this point I feel a position player would be much more beneficial to the system and the state of the rebuild. Outside of Eloy I'm not sold on many of the top position player prospects just yet. Being able to add a slam-dunk cornerstone hitter/defender into the heart of the lineup for years to come is truly what I'm looking for right now.

Michael Lananna @mlananna 8m If he's touching 96, I'm taking this dude. Was VERY impressed with what I saw from Liberatore this summer. He's got poise and control and takes an intellectual approach.

2018 MLB Draft
Carlos Collazo @CarlosACollazo Heard Matthew Liberatore was up to 96 mph last night but settled into an above-average FB. Good control, plus changeup. Some teams likely leave that start seeing three future plus pitches between FB, CB, CH. #mlbdraft

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 11:24 PM) He's my pick in this draft as you know Dirty. 0 injury history either and a nice mix of pitches, plus a lefty and high schooler which is what we need for the farm in the second wave. My guy. Touching 97 sure is something new. Lots of reports had him in the low 90's with lots of projection. I am now more than intrigued.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 12:49 PM) Some highlights for anyone who don't want to read through the whole thing: The first three make sense and I've been hearing a lot about them, but Rolison is kind of a surprise. Rolison has been pretty dominant. Seems to have a pretty high floor, but not the ceiling of someone like McClanahan. Not my choice at 4, but i can understand the reasoning. I'd certainly prefer him to someone like Singer at this point.

2018 MLB Draft
Forgot to post this yesterday. Kiley still sees him as a top 5 to 10 guy. Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd Sources: Oregon State 2B Nick Madrigal has a broken wrist and will be out 3-4 weeks. Is seen in the industry as the top college hitter in the draft and still has a good chance to go in the top 5-10 picks in June.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 10:09 AM) I don't think it will affect his stock too much. He'll still get to play a bit and he has so much tape on him. Yep. The prevalence of TrackMan data available on him certainly helps too. Kiley had a good quote on this. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mlb-draft-r...-2019-and-2020/ With the White Sox certainly fitting under the "risk averse/analytic" tag, it makes me think Madrigal would still absolutely be in play. Especially if you could leverage the injury into some cost savings for later picks.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 25, 2018 -> 03:52 PM) So we’ve already eliminated Burger and Collins from their positions where they would have the most value at over two consecutive days, lol...next Rutherford will be a 4th outfielder. Gamethread!

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:33 AM) I'd have him playing SS all the way up to the bigs (unless he just really shows he can't hack the position defensively) and start him there if he forces the issue. I don't see Anderson as a long term lock at SS, so if Madrigal comes in and destroys pitching while playing a good SS all the way up, trade Anderson if necessary, or make him your UTIL, his contract is okay for that. Regardless, never turn down an all-star bat that can play SS defense. Yea. I'm of this mindset too. Especially if he starts showing a bit more pop this year. The hit tool isn't in question. He wouldn't need long in the minors either.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 01:13 PM) Reading the BA chat, this stuck out I read that and think I'd prefer Turang. I think I would prefer Madrigal if scouts are convinced he could play SS long-term.
