  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 06:39 PM) Hawkins with walk #6. Has "slumped" recently down to .294 but still 12th in the Carolina League in batting average. Hawkins hasn't walked today.
  2. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) Not an impact prospect yet, but might we have something in Trey Michalczewhatever? Quite a pup, having just turned 19, and holding his own. Perhaps. I loved the draft pick. Overslot guy who has lots of potential. Hoping the power comes along. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/mino...-keeps-bashing/
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) Jeez, Chris Beck Yep. Not going to be doing much if he doesn't start missing some bats.
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) Thompson has 3 walks today! Wooo Micah now has 3 as well.
  5. Trea Turner with 2 HRs tonight. Making that late push to be pick number 3!
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) Micah Johnson making very few outs of late. I was expecting some struggles with Micah, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Him and Trayce are tearing it up so far.
  7. Fun bad! Not that it matters really. This is a rebuilding team and Paulino never was going to a part of the long term plan.
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 08:10 PM) How has Rienzo looked so far in the minors? Not good.
  9. John Manuel ‏@johnmanuelba 3m Rodon is done. Jon Olczak in. Rodon's line: 8 IP 6 H 1 R/ER 3 BB 7 SO 1 HBP 115 pitches. #MLBDraft
  10. Chris Crawford ‏@CrawfordChrisV 6m Carlos Rodon through 4: 2 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, 1 K against Boston College. Meh.
  11. Kiley McDaniel ‏@kileymcd 38s Rodon ticked up last week & I'm told Hoffman was the mythical Cape Hoffman I won't shut up about. 20-25 scouts w/CHW+CHC heavy hitters there Expand
  12. Frankie Piliere ‏@FPilierePG 1m Heard Jeff Hoffman was electric in front of some heavy hitting talent evaluators today. 16 Ks, 1 BB in 8 innings. 3 hits allowed Expand
  13. I'm fine with any of the Hoffman/Aiken/Kolek trio. Still not entirely sold on Rodon. Especially with the uncertainty of his demands if he falls to 3.
  14. keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 1m Kolek 94-97 mph in the first. Threw one CH. @jluhnow in the house along with the Cubs' scouting director. Expand
  15. Kiley McDaniel ‏@kileymcd 41s ECU righty Jeff Hoffman has been 95-97 early on tonight w/heat in the building from both Chicago clubs, including Theo Epstein & Jed Hoyer. Expand
  16. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) Provided we don't get Rodon or Aiken at 1.3, this is the guy I want in Rd 2, hoping he falls to us, or that maybe we can trade up into Comp Balance round to get him. It would mirror what happened with Sale, and Danish, to a lesser extent. The rest of MLB's enslavement to conventional pitching mechanics is the market inefficiency we can exploit. But I don't know what the FO thinks of him. Yep. I've been all over Medeiros since December. Would love for him to be around at 44.
  17. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 08:40 AM) I wonder if they were restricting his pitches in his first couple outings to try and develop some of his secondary pitches. I don't know what to make of Beck. He's never really struck anyone out until that late season stint in AA. I can't get on the bandwagon yet.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 11:32 PM) Would you guys be interested in Nick Burdi with our 2nd round pick? Local kid who's having a great year at Louisville, just doesn't start, he's their closer. Nope. Nothing against Burdi, but he makes more sense to a contending team that can fast-track him to the big league bullpen. He's a safe bet to provide value for his drafting team, but he is and will only be a reliever.
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 11:19 PM) I think it was Quinarvy who got me hooked on a prep catcher for our 2nd RD pick. I am forgetting his name at this moment, but I think he was either a lefty power guy, or a switch hitting power catcher who was good defensively. I'll look him up and edit this post. Jakson Reetz I presume.
  20. Chris Crawford has a new top 40 up. http://mlbdraftinsider.com/2014/04/the-boa...014-volume-iii/
  21. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 07:37 PM) 6 weeks to go. When do our draft gurus speculate on whe Sox pick for Round 2? Pick #39, I believe. 44th pick. Super hard to pinpoint a second rounder unless you have some connections on who the Sox like. (Hi Bucket/Rock). I'd love to see Kodi Medeiros fall into our lap. I'd wager hes a late 1st round pick though. Other players I personally like include Alex Verdugo, Luke Weaver, Luis Ortiz, Mac Marshall, Matt Imhof and especially Jacob Bukauskas. This draft is super deep with pitching.
  22. Interesting note by Callis. I'd be very okay with Kolek or Aiken.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) Thompson with a 2-run dinger. Putting together a nice week or so. I've always liked the Trayce Thompson pick. Fingers still crossed.
