  1. Today should be somewhat interesting in how the teams draft. Past round 10 each pick is slotted at $100,000. But you can offer a player as much as you want, it just counts against your entire allotment. Thus if you saved money in rounds 1 through 10, you can draft some tougher signs and offer them whatever the hell want as long as you have the money available. Also unlike the first ten rounds, not signing a player now doesn't remove the recommended allotment ($100,000) from your pool. So we can expect some teams (Cubs?) to take a shot at the highly ranked super tough signs today. IE: Bakauskas, Mac Marshall, Weisenberg, Montes De Orca, JJ Schwarz, McKinney etc. Perhaps we will see the Sox grab a tougher prep sign or two today. Once again though, it really depends on how expensive they think Rodon will be and how much they expect to have saved in the first ten rounds.
  2. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:52 AM) And Laumann doesn't sound as if there's any concerns with Adams at all. There really shouldn't be much concern about Day 1 players signing. If they don't, the team loses that pick's allotment. The Sox are going to be extra super diligent in that they won't be f***ed out of $1.2 million of their entire draft allotment.
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) Sox draft Jake Jarvis, listed him as 2B. Callis said he thought he was considered unsignable, and he preferred him as a pitcher. Curious that the Sox would take a tough sign with the last of the slotted picks. Must think they have the money moved around. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...ws&c_id=cws
  4. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) I've read it, I touched on it above. I still think it's a very low strikeout number, even with predominantly fastball usage. Seconded. At some point the "he's working on something" explanations have to translate to results. Hoping it happens because the groundball rate is pretty good.
  5. Jake Jarvis' twitter sure makes it sound like he will be signing.
  6. Where da strikeouts Beck? Lots of ground outs at least.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) 10th round - wonder if he's signable Of course he is. He's an unheralded college senior.
  8. I think I love you Frankie.
  9. Sigh. What on earth is wrong with Erik Johnson?
  10. Cubs spending more money. I love Cease. He is almost assuredly going to need TJ though.
  11. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) Did I miss something here? Less than 24 he's after being drafted you're hoping we don't sign Rodon? Just curious as to why. Jokes.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) What a stupid grade...........I guess we should of just passed. It's a joke article. Each team was given an F.
  13. Wow Stros. Would be great if he signs. Nix could be fantastic.
  14. Eric (Memphis) White Sox just picked Brett Austin. Any chance he sticks at catcher? Klaw (2:00 PM) Nonzero also. He should go give talks at HS showcases about the dangers of turning down seven figures out of high school.
  15. There's some money for the Cubs to spend.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:15 PM) Guessing thi swasn't the home run people felt like our 1st and 2nd were They might not have money for more home runs.
  17. Cederoth to Twins. Another awesome power arm to pair with Burdi. Probably a reliever though.
  18. Cubs. You going to spend some savings now?
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) What's the deadline for picks to sign? My guess is the deal doesn't get done to the 11th hour. That's how about all Boras draft picks go. Right to the deadline.
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) Don't hand the Cubs a guy on a silver platter . . . There is plenty of talent left despite who the Sox grab. Also, who cares? The Sox aren't drafting to stifle the Cubs.
  21. No idea on signability, but would love Keaton McKinney if they go pitching again.
  22. Any of the ESPN Insider articles have anything regarding the Sox first day? What about the Cubs? No idea what they are doing unless they grab Bakauskus/Nix today.
  23. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:20 PM) And me. I was hoping for him at 44 even. I kept saying he would be around in the 3rd round! Would be just fine with him tomorrow.
