  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) The posturing continues. Somebody will crack Yep. It's clearly posturing. And to be honest Russell and Gray is probably too much for Peavy. Russell is a top 20 prospect in baseball to many. You start out asking for the moon and negotiate from there. Gray and Russell will probably lead to some sort of combination of Gray/Ynoa/Choice/Alcantara/Bostick.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) Cubs better not be getting Hanson for him That's my guess actually.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) We are coming for you Marlins! If Rios and Alexei are moved, chances are looking good we nab that 2nd pick. Dat big draft/international pool.
  4. Will Carroll recently tweeted that three of his credible sources have Peavy going to three different teams. I'd post the tweet but I'm at the Nats game. Well played Rick.
  5. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) In your opinion could SF put together an adequate package for Jake sans Crick? My head and the reports on the Sox wishes says no. Meh. I think I would only have them above Atlanta as far as possible returns go. It would help if Stratton was pitching above Low-A as well.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) In my opinion, it would be a big mistake to not move Peavy by the end of the month. Seconded.
  7. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) Russell hasn't been playing for a week or so. Not directed at SoxPride, but another poster had said Adams is a butcher at 1B and I've read the contrary. Namely, Mike (the STL fan) has posted and says he moves quite well over there despite his big body. Can someone comment on what we would be looking at as far as return with SF? I like Crick's potential but I feel like he may be untouchable for SF. Anyone else know of their system? The only other guys I can think of off the top of my head are Gary Brown and Stratton. Brown is meh and I know little to nothing about Stratton other than him being a 1st rounder in '12. Clayton Blackburn. Andrew Susac. Martin Agosta is interesting with good numbers, but he really needs to be pitching above Low-A.
  8. Stockton Ports play by play man. Michael Ynoa pitched tonight. Gray and Ynoa could be part of a nice package.
  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) Thats too bad, cause Alex Wood is the only player they have I would have much interest in. I really like Lucas Sims. Also really intrigued by Christian Bethancourt. The Braves are the last team I'd like to see the Sox deal Peavy to though.
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) This really wouldn't surprise me. You can never have enough pitching. A team needs to be 7 deep in quality starting pitching to win the WS. If the Six trade Peavy, do the have that? I don't think they trust Satiago's offspeed stuff yet. I'm not saying pitching is the primary piece of a trade, but they are probably insisting that pitching must be included. Yep. Surprised this hasn't been stated yet. There is indeed pitching at the major league level, but other than Erik Johnson there really isn't anything of significance as far as starters go. Rienzo is interesting but probably a bullpen arm. Also Hahn might have a preference towards position players here, but if a very highly valued pitching prospect with a high ceiling is on the table you very much consider it. IE Gausman and Baltimore. Gray and Oakland. It might also allow you to flip Quintana or Santiago down the road for more pressing needs.
  11. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:22 PM) I think Law is a douchebag but always love to hear his opinion. Sounds about right.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) Have you ever heard Law say anything good about anything, or anybody, related to the Sox? Seriously. Of course. Last week when discussing his top prospect list he was giving praise to Erik Johnson despite him not being in his top 50. He really liked the Courtney Hawkins draft pick at the time. Same with Andrew Mitchell this year. He was also on the radio yesterday saying Peavy should garner a bigger return than Garza. People don't like Law because he is a snarky prick most of the time, and thus they think he hates their team. It's not just White Sox fans. It's pretty obnoxious actually.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) I'm usually on the media isnt out to get the Sox wagon but Law through the years is to much but with Kenny no longer GM maybe he will rank Chris Sale in his top 50 under 25 He's admitted he was wrong on Sale multiple times. It's the nature of the business.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) Are you guys serious? It doesn't matter if Law actually hates the Sox, he's an objective analyst. He's not going out of his way to bash the Sox. While I fully agree, good luck with that argument around here.
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) The guy is a 26 year old ML quality hitter. What does this team need more than that? I'd offer the opinion that its a bit early to consider him an ML quality hitter. He's also not that great of a catcher.
  16. Some people in this thread are way too excited about Evan Gattis.
  17. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) Braves have no intriguing prospects whatsoever Scouts rave over Christian Bethancourt, but the numbers don't match the glowing reports. I like him, but he's no centerpiece. Not yet at least.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Kenny scouting the Pirates AA team http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,0,645531.story Polanco would be fantastic, but I'd imagine there would be more than Rios in the deal. Also noted Dickerson.
  19. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) No thanks on Cecchini, at least as the centerpiece. This team lacks power, I don't want a guy who has 14 HRs total in 242 minor league games to play a power position like 3rd. I'd rather have Middlebrooks. Chicks don't dig walks. No power? He's OPSed .898, .827, 1.016 in three minor league seasons. Couple that with good defense, a discerning batting eye, a good hit tool, and you have a top 30 prospect in baseball. I can't understand why anyone would turn their nose up at Cecchini.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) Definitely feel like he wont make his start tomorrow I'd be shocked if he didn't. He's only thrown to major league hitters once since his return from the DL.
  21. Also worth noting, Kennedy being blown up again. This time by the Cubs.
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) Yes. Actually. They are/were kind of similar prospects when you look at the minor league numbers. Both slugging 3B with strikeout issues. I do like the possibility of Owings being in a package too though. If I could have any 3B being talked about in this thread though, I'd go with Option C: Cecchini.
  23. I still hope Towers is waiting in the weeds, ready to send over Davidson.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) Maybe I'm being dumb, but I just don't like having a pitcher be the best part of a deal. Especially if this deal might be our only major move I will be supremely disappointed if this is the only major move.
