  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) He's 20 years old in AAA. Offensively he hasn't been horrible and from reading accounts his defense has been very good. Let him play in Charlotte this year and next and see if he can play in the majors at the old age of 22 in 2015. Yep. Sanchez has a slick glove indeed. He's also the youngest player in the International League. Would be quite silly to write him off already.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) Marlins will end up with worse record than Astros Fernandez and Rodon will be one hell of a tandem in the not too distant future.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) Which is all it would take to get Carlos Rodon He's currently dominating on ESPN2. Appel and Rodon will be one hell of a tandem in the not too distant future.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) 0-4, 3K for Hawkins...down to .200 batting average 0 for 5, 4 Ks.
  5. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 5m #WhiteSox sign Trey Michalszewski for $500k. Oklahoma HS 3B, steal in 7th rd, good bat & power from both sides, strong arm. #mlbdraft
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) Astros and Cubs are playing better baseball than the Sox. Mets are going to be calling up Wheeler soon, but their offense is abysmal. When it's all said and done, I fully expect Marlins to get 1st pick and Astros 2nd. One "advantage" the Sox have to racking up the losses is the tough schedule they have the rest of the way. Yep. A top 5 pick would be great. There's not a chance they finish worse than Houston or Miami though. I still think when all is said and done a pick in the 7 to 10 range is where the Sox end up.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) For those that aren't watching, Danks just got picked off at 2nd to end the game. If this game doesn't get changes to be made, nothing will. Jordan Danks is a truly awful baseball player. Quite honestly, what changes are there to be made? Maybe it's just be, but I fully expect this team to remain mostly the same until pieces are inevitably dealt.
  8. While still missing some bonus amounts, BA's Draft Database for the White Sox has some updated signings on it for whoever is maintaining the initial post. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draftdb/201...m.php?team=1026
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) Any chance they release Jared Mitchell soon? If he wasn't Buddy Bell's boy, he'd be close to gone at this point. There were scouts calling him a release candidate around spring training time.
  10. Is that surprising? This isn't a good team. They will continue to flounder and some pieces will be dealt around the deadline. Hope for a decent draft pick in what is looking like a solid draft class next year. Then pray that the minors can churn out a few pieces in the coming years that can contribute around the time the Tigers window is closing.
  11. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 09:30 PM) Reality check for those who jumped on the Hawkins bandwagon too soon. 0-5 with 5 K's is a pretty tough feat, it only further shows he has some serious holes in his swing. Sooner or later, we might have to break up his swing/approach and have him relearn the basics again, i.e. a demotion, while he's still new to the game. From the assessments I've recently read, it's less about a flawed swing and largely due to very poor pitch recognition. Edit: Actually the swing can have its issues apparently: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=20890
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) I just tweeted that exact question. Hopefully the 400 is correct. Yea. He DMed me and said 400.
  13. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 47s Typo on Lowry, should be $400k. Fingers too fast or too tired. Will resend. #mlbdraft #WhiteSox Expand
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 10m #WhiteSox ink 5th-rder Thaddius Lowry for $500k. Texas HS RHP, former C, up to 96 & mid-80s slider early in spring. #mlbdraft $190,800 over slot. The BA draft database actually says $400,000 as the bonus. Maybe Callis will clarify.
  15. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 10m #WhiteSox ink 5th-rder Thaddius Lowry for $500k. Texas HS RHP, former C, up to 96 & mid-80s slider early in spring. #mlbdraft $190,800 over slot.
  16. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 13m #WhiteSox ink 4th-rder Andrew Mitchell for $413k. TCU RHP, one of best curves among collegians, up to 98 as RP, steal in 4th. #mlbdraft Right at slot value.
  17. Seems Dykstra has signed as well according to BA's draft database.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Puts us up about $310k now, without factoring in the extra $260k-ish we could go over before penalties kicked in. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draftdb/201...m.php?team=1026
  19. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 6m #White Sox, 3rd-rder Jacob May agree to $525k. Coastal Carolina OF was one of faster players in #mlbdraft, good CF range, switch-hitter. About 50K under slot.
  20. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 12:53 PM) Trey Michalczewski ‏@T_Michalczewski 3m It's official!! Can't wait to start my professional career! #whitesoxnation Nice. Bravo White Sox.
  21. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) I'm not defending Flowers play and I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about him thus far. With that said, am I right in thinking some of the backlash is in who he's replacing? That's certainly part of it. It's evident by a few repeat offenders who love to bump this thread.
