  1. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) I'd like to make a trade for Brandon League.. With what prospects?
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) Now, if this is true and we decide to go for it, I'd like to see us acquire a young closer-type. Addison Reed.
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) With this rumor as well as the Cespedes one, I guess KW has changed his mind about rebuilding. I think it's way to soon to conclude that.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) This team has no particular direction, if this is the case. It's like it's being run by a child with ADHD playing Playstation. Yea. That has been my fear for a while now.
  5. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) If this is true.. Its great news for the sox It's confusing news to say the least.
  6. Not sure if it warrants a new thread or not. I'll leave that up to the mods.
  7. k0na Doug Seyller #WhiteSox danks signs a big contract with the sox. repeat. big. 1 minute ago Favorite Retweet Reply k0na Doug Seyller #WhiteSox Danks signs a pretty big contract with the Sox. It's big... 24 seconds ago ^^ This is the dude who broke the Edwin trade.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) And put up a middling .780 OPS because he strikes out a lot and never takes a walk, and who gets paid ~$20-25 million the next 3 years to do so before he is let go. And who stole a whopping 12 bases last year, and who is 44/64 in his career. Indeed. I don't mind Jones, but he makes little sense on a club that is supposedly rebuilding. Same with Cespedes.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 11:47 PM) I thought the tank had a crazy good arm? He does. But his range and reads are not very good. He by no means is considered a good defender.
  10. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) According to Knobler and a few others on MLB radio.. The Sox are very interested in Cespedes now. I'd be shocked. I'll eat my hat if it happens.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) Very cool, but there goes another trading partner for Kenny. If Gio goes to the Nationals, you have to think Blue Jays will go after Danks. I'd love to see Toronto try to get Prince now. Also worth noting that the Rangers could explore trading Harrison now. They have a pitching surplus.
  12. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) If I was KW, I would just hold pretty much right now. Unless you get a deal that you cannot pass up. Team salary has been shaved a lot recently .... no more Teahen, EJax, Buehrle, Pierre, Santos, Vizquel. Kenny has already stated that more salary needs to be moved.
  13. With the Rangers getting Yu, look for Toronto to go after Gio. Garza is a serious option too as AA likes that he's pitched successfully in the AL East already. It seems to me that the Yankees and Red Sox are the two remaining teams that are most likely to be interested in Danks and or Floyd.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) I could see that, but it depends on the price of Gio, and from my interpretations it's as much or more than Latos, meaning that team would have to love Gio to bring him in. Indeed. But supposedly the Jays were in the Latos talks up until the Padres took the Reds package. Sounds like they are willing to pay the price for a guy under team control for a while.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) It's gotta be the Rangers, hopefully the Blue Jays come back to us about Danks. I still think the team that doesn't get Darvish will grab Gio. Both the Rangers and Jays have more than enough pieces.
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Kevan Smith not even mentioned?? Age relative to league is big here. He will be 24 in June, and has only played in rookie ball. I'm intrigued by Smith, but it's not a stretch to say we need to see him producing in High-A at the very least. Some would argue for Birmingham.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) I have a feeling we're about to get bent over. Probably. Especially since Kenny still needs to cut payroll. The only fantastic return the Sox are going to get comes from either dealing Sale or Alexei. Neither are likely to be dealt though. (Rightfully so.)
  18. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) With deals like this, I am hoping KW trades pretty much everyone on the Sox, to bring some fresh young talent. Konerko is an amazing player but want to see him traded as well. KW needs to build the Sox for 2014 and beyond. I'm getting antsy for a trade. Where are the sources with rumors to feed us? It's been too quiet.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) I think many people would have taken one of them for Danks. Yep. Two would be a stretch for one year of Danks.
  20. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) i know hindsight is 20/20, but this is why i dislike peeps being opposed to dealing an asset simply because you have that asset under control for many year. its not a good comparison, but seeing this package makes me wonder what we couldve gotten for danks last offseason or two offseasons ago. that is a crazy great package. hoyer and byrnes are building quite a nice little squad in SD. i think Grandal is going to be amazing, my jealousy knows no bounds on this one. i was hoping for grandal more than anything this offseason Yea. The Reds are my other favorite club, and I'm a bit salty over this. I like Grandal more than Alonso. I'm also a fan of Boxberger. It certainly looks like an overpay, but Latos is indeed a legit top of the rotation piece.

  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) The Reds acquiring a pitcher that wasn't thought to be on the market throws somewhat of a wrench in the Sox plans. With each deal like this that happens, I think it becomes more likely that the Sox will deal Ramirez. The Hanley Ramirez situation even makes that tough. It's possible. I don't necessarily agree with it, but if the Sox aren't liking the returns for other options they could certainly make a splash by moving Alexei. It would help if they had at least a somewhat decent SS prospect to fill in. Eduardo could do the job defensively, but that's about it.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) For Yonder? They already have who was the main piece in the AGon trade for 1B and Yonder playing LF at Petco sounds like a f***ing disaster. I hadn't considered that. Yonder in the Petco OF would be hilariously awful.
  24. Seriously that's a haul for the Padres. They have a glut of 1B corner OF types now though.
  25. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) Volquez is in the deal as well. EDIT: Holy s***, they got Grandal too. Reds acquire SD’s Mat Latos for Yonder Alonso, Brad Boxberger, Yasmani Grandal and Edinson Volquez. Wow. What a pickup for San Diego.
