  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) Daniel Hudson is just a really good pitcher. He will end up with an ERA around 3.3 this year. Arizona is an exciting team Agreed. I haven't had much of a chance to watch them this year, but the future looks bright. They are loaded with young pitching. Skaggs, Holmberg, Bauer, and Bradley. Good for them.
  2. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) We are paying ejax how much? That is definitely a head scratcher. KW hates young, inexpensive pitchers hehe. Kenny hates the adjustment/acclimation period that is inherent with most prospects. Rare is the rookie who can step in and hit the ground running to produce great results immediately. The ones that do are few and far between.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Lol, what? Not only is there 0% chance Kenny will get fired mid-season, but Ozzie is the problem, not Kenny. Kenny isn't absolved of all blame. I have issues with both.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I haven't seen him play much in the outfield. however, it sounds like we're looking at Carlos Lee part 2. A guy converted to the outfield because he couldn't play third. He'll hit alot of HR's, have a great arm but drive use crazy running around in the outfield. Very likely. Like I said passable is probably his defensive ceiling. He had fall-down range at 3B. That said as a total package he's a significant upgrade over Juan Pierre.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) It's difficult to go from minor league stats or anything like that, but he's not, as far as I know, known to be slow. He also definitely has a shotgun for an arm, which is a nice thing to have on a guy if his range isn't the best. Goldstein has noted his range is unimpressive as one would imagine. I don't think anyone should expect great defense from him. Passable is what I'm eventually expecting.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) Well you have said on multiple occassions that there is absolutely no one doing good in our minor leagues, to which I've responded "What about Viciedo? Reed? Petricka? Kuhn? Wilkins? and a couple others. Kuhn as many said is seen as a utility guy. Reports on his defense aren't great either. Wilkins really isn't impressive at all: .253/.333/.433. Dayan and Reed are alright though. Petricka needs to perform at a more age appropriate level, and right now his injury is preventing this. He's headed to Great Falls to rehab next.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) I really don't understand how Viciedo isn't thought of as a top 10-20 prospect in baseball. It's because he isn't eligible for most prospect lists. His rookie status was exhausted last year.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) Petricka could be close, but the lack of a promotion to High-A followed by his injury stops that. Indeed. Also the fact that Holmberg is only 19 in Low-A whereas Petricka is 23.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Would Holmberg be our #1 pitching prospect? I would imagine so. I think Reed would be his only real competition, and he's a reliever.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) KW has truly sodomized this organization with his horrific and short-sighted moves the last 3+ years. I truly think a rebuild is in the cards sometime in the near future. Not sure I would want Kenny in charge of it though.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) So Gardeck isn't official yet is he? Doesn't sound like it.
  12. QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) Honestly, it makes me think they are over paying and impatient. I've been wrong before though. Over-slot deals aren't made official until August, so they aren't overpaying.
  13. Looking like Gardeck will sign. I'm a fan of this pick. http://www.southsidesox.com/2011/6/14/2221...te-sox-prospect
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) What was the signing bonus for KWJR? Does anyone know? $150,000
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) Reed throws 99? s***, no wonder why he was blowing away people at every league so far. Hope that fastball has some movement. Would like to see Coop teach him a cutter, increase that repertoire. He was in KG's minor league update today. Notes a fastball that has consistently gotten into the upper 90s, with a low-80s slider with good movement and almost doubles as a changeup due to the velocity separation. Also thinks he could be in the Bigs by September.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) Really? I thought when we got him, he was supposed to be a plus fielder at 3B? Nope. His defense was always questionable.
  17. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) You really still are hanging on to hope? Even after the interview with Buddy Bell basically said his swing didn't respond well to the coaching and reverted back to the norm? He's going to be 25 years old in less than two months, I just don't see it. I see a 4th outfielder or a 2nd division starter at best.
  18. aaronfitt Aaron Fitt 6th-round pick. Athleticism, compact swing. Like him. RT @fallsrich: What kind of prospect is Marcus Semien seems like a complete player? 4 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  19. Krist just hit a 2 run bomb in his first at bat against the definition of a soft-tosser. Only his 2nd of the year though.
  20. Game starting now on ESPNU. Johnson on the mound, and both Semien/Krist in the lineup as well.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) On TV? On ESPNU. For me at least.
  22. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) And Justin Jones, former Sox pick, got the start in the win. I assume Johnson goes tonight. Johnson indeed pitches tonight.
