QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) The fact Karkovice and Durham are mentioned anywhere near an all-time home run list is just sad. Yes, but Frank, Harold, Konerko, Dye, Thome is an impressive group on a list.

Got all but

Ok, I give up. Just have Wolfe run it every play.

You know what? **** 4th and 5, I go for it, cause quite frankly, I'm scared of Cincy's Offense. And thats what their doing. Well, that sucked.
-
Now even the Refs take pity on us, giving us free first downs. Edit: Marvin Lewis: Sore winner. Though pretty much anyone would challenge it.
-
Well, who would have went for it with 1 second left? I think I might have... Also, my god. I now declare Urlacher ready to play, even if he can't use a hand and get Tinoisamoa out there on crutches. They'll STILL do better than what we got going at the moment.
-
...crap Can we at least stop the Drunken Boat driver?! Looks like they just need to start bombing to Knox. Nothing else is working so you might as well go high-risk/high-reward.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) That would be a 26 man roster... Yup, just realized where I miscalculated...changing it to fit. CL - Thornton SU - Okajima SU - Bard MR - Pena MR - Linebrink LR - Hudson LR - Carrasco CL - Jenks SU - Thornton SU - Hudson MR - Pena MR - Linebrink LR - Torres LR - Carrasco

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) First of all, if I'm the Bulls I wouldn't give up a likely lottery pick in that deal, with the FA status of Amare. Secondly, that's not the worst idea I've ever heard otherwise. The only question is...salary. The Suns have been at least pretending to be under huge salary constraints for the last 5 years. In that deal, they're taking on Deng's contract for the next several years and possibly a contract for Thomas as well. they may well just be willing to let Amare walk without getting anything in return to save the money. Esp. considering that Phoenix was one of the areas with a huge housing bubble I doubt they'll be a lottery team, though honestly the potential for this team is anywhere from 30-50 wins, so who knows? Thing is, I don't know if the Suns would want to skip on a resurgent Deng (in this scenario at least) and the possibility of keeping an athletic and defensive Power Forward. The Bulls could weather losing them, since they'd have Gibson to replace Tyrus (and backup Stoudemire), while they could have Kirk get some starts at SG and Johnson at SF (and have Salmons start at one or the other each night). Plus, if Wade comes aboard, Salmons would be your SF.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) Didn't the Suns basically sell Deng to the Bulls? Yea, but apparently they've had sellers remorse, because, I think it was last year, there were rumors of Deng to Phoenix.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) The Knicks aren't taking on contracts right now, they're still convinced they can steal another SF in free agency this offseason. Oh, and I believe NYK doesn't have a 1st rounder this year again. Ok, I need to rephrase this after I remembered something. I only remember one team having interest in Deng the past few years so if he gets off to a good start and if the Suns don't believe they can resign Amar'e Stoudemire after the season, do you think a Deng-Tyrus-1st Round Pick for Stoudemire deal could be done? I'd then either sign Stoudemire to a deal or let him walk and use that money on Wade (since I doubt you could sign Wade and keep Stoudemire)

I guess I take out Nunez for Torres in the second one, not much I'm doing with the first one unless you drop Nunez for a FA lefty.

I have it at 8 spots, with a 4 man bench (Kotsay, Flowers, De Aza, Nix) Keeping Bobby CL - Jenks SU - Thornton SU - Hudson MR - Nunez MR - Pena MR - Linebrink LR - Torres LR - Carrasco The Bobby-Alexei for Ellsbury-Okajima-Bard trade Olney suggested CL - Thornton SU - Okajima SU - Bard MR - Nunez MR - Pena MR - Linebrink LR - Hudson LR - Carrasco

Something to consider on the potential trade front.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) Thought I made it pretty clear that it was a "proposed" trade by Olney. Not my fault certain posters here got that twisted. Ah, that changes a lot...dang it. Still wouldn't mind it if we pulled it off. -
You gotta say this about Hendry and the Cubs, they stick to their philosophy. "Problem? Throw money at it!"

I just realized, even though we've gotten all extra psyched about this Sox-Sox trade...does anyone have a link? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) No one is taking on Deng's contract in this economy unless we take a worse contract back. When I say amazing start, I mean "So amazing some poorly run team (See: Knicks) buys into it and gives us a first rounder."

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) I think KW somehow will sign Abreu to be our new DH. If a deal goes down for Ellsbury your lineup would be: Ellsbury CF Beckham SS Abreu DH Quentin LF Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Rios RF Getz 2B Uribe/Viciedo 3B I think Abreu is out of the picture, as he turned down a $16 Million/2 year deal from the Angels, and I doubt Kenny will want to pay him $10 million a year for 2 or 3 years. -

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) I would rather sign Uribe to a cheap 1 year deal to fill that 3b spot until Viciedo is ready. Uribe is aweful behind the plate but the dude still plays solid defense- he did a pretty good job filling for SF when Sanchez went down and he also did a hell of a job for us when Crede wen't down in 2008. I don't want to see Fields anymore. . If Olney is correct, I pull the trigger. I love Alexei and Bobby, but man, that'd be the best offer we'd get for them and its a d*** good one at that. Then I do what Scott said and sign Uribe. *Then I cross my fingers and try and pull of an Adrian Gonzalez deal. If not, I leave it as is with the rotation of players.* I like the look of: LF - Ellsbury 3B - Uribe SS - Beckham DH - Gonzalez 1B - Konerko RF - Quentin CF - Rios C - Pierzynski 2B - Getz If you have Rios and Quentin bounce back, then that creates the scariest 3-7 in the Majors, along with a good leadoff hitter, a guy that can be a wonderful #2 hitter, a .280-.300 catcher, and a grinder at the bottom. I'm assuming the bullpen would be: CL: Thornton SU: Bard SU: Okajima MR: Linebrink MR: Pena MR: Nunez LR: Hudson/Hynick (if Hudson is trade for Gonzalez) LR: Carrasco I'm guessing the bench would round out to: Kotsay Nix FA Catcher De Aza I could live with that, since we'd have a monster lineup, serviceable bench, and a sick bullpen. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) Rose should wear that jersey during games. Miller's looking a little haggard there in that pic. I think they need to sell those jerseys now. Also, since we are all talking about how Deng sucks, I hope he gets off to an amazing start this year. So we can ship him off for something (if we could get a first rounder for Deng, I'd be ecstatic).
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) Will probably never see anything like that again (sorry to say). I sure as heck hope we don't. That would mean waiting 88 years between championships.

If I'm the Sox I offer a Viciedo type contract but loaded with incentives, to make everyone happy but nothing near what the Yankees and Red Sox will offer. Though, ever since Jose fizzled out in NY, haven't these super Cuban prospects (Alexei, Viciedo) been speculated on getting big contracts from bidding wars and coming up with far less? I just wish Torres was his agent, we'd have him wrapped up by now.

Well, looks like we're preparing for life without Wise. Thank god, because from this thread and a quick stats browsing, this guy seems to be Wise but can swing a bat.

My prayers have been answered. Fox's idiotic game broadcasts will finally be funny as ****ing any ****.
