QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) That seems crazy to me.I can't justify them as a favorite. New system and Rose has almost no playing time. I realize Kyrie is out but they still have LBJ and Love and company. I'm obviously a homer and think the Bulls can win, but if I were being objective, I would think at worse you'd have these teams even. Aren't Shump and Mozgov hurt? And LBJ's back.

I can almost guarantee Alexei's option is picked up.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) i can understand that, but sometimes I feel people like you don't put yourself in that classroom or movie theatre. Madman has gun. You have nothing. Your life is at the mercy of him. I wish it didn't have to be that way. Yeah, I've been there. Try again. Edit: In terms of people having guns out (once) or gun threats (a bunch). Never had one fired.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Why a double wow? Sometimes I think you guys are not very sensitive to the victims of these mass murders. Look ... two 20-somethings are sitting in a movie theatre and some moron comes racing in and trying to kill everybody and lets say he kills those 2 20 somethings. Those are two lives taken away forever. Their immediate families lives are pretty much ruined (if you know the victims of murder who are from close families you know this is true), and two 20-somethings can't have kids, married life, summer vacations, jobs, doing good for others. Their lives are stripped away because of some madman asshole who decided to go in and shoot everybody he could. Why am I a bad guy for saying I want everybody to have the right to shoot that bastard to protect their existence on the earth? What's the problem here. Are you, Quinarvy, willing to give up your life at 23 at the hands of some creep with a gun? Don't you want to have a gun to at least have a fighting chance at killing him before he kills you and your loved ones with you at the movie?? Or in class? I could be off base but you don't seem very sensitive to me. Again, I want the good guys to live and the bad guys to die in these situations. Don't you?? Holy hell Greg. The wow is because you're imaging action movie scenarios. At NAU a couple students got into an argument and bam, next thing you know, someone's dead. I don't want guns period. Having more and more people packing won't help anything but possibly cause an escalation.

Who does SoxTalk prefer to win the World Series?
Quin replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
Here's the thing: White Sox fans are so fickle that they wouldn't put up with the losing seasons the Cubs, Astros and Royals needed to get to where they are. Need proof? We're currently getting our highest picks in years, the system is improving and fans calling for rebuilds are pissed that they aren't winning right now because they didn't rebuild earlier. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 11:19 PM) Unfortunately the best are loyal to Mozeliak, with Luhnow in Houston or no longer viable due to their connection to the hacking/FBI scandal with Houston. They did bring in Hostetler from the Braves' organization to basically replace Laumann at least. Hostetler managed this year's draft after the first pick, and I've been a fan so far.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) He just turned 21 last month, so he was a 20 year old in AA. I think that's pretty young for that level, and he got to that level at a young age because he had been so good previously. I'm always guilty of cherry picking on this board so why not continue? Danish had 4 games where he was absolutely rocked to the tune of 25 runs in 15 innings. That really inflated that 4.50 era. 20 year olds in AA are probably always gonna have games like that. How he does in year 2 at AA will be more telling as to who he is as a prospect. Probably is a reliever due to his motion, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Still has a shot to start though. Yeah, this pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Adams is the only one that can possibly fit that description, but even then, if they all hit their ceilings Rodon and Fulmer are better.

Saw some scenes in the trailer ripped straight from Alias. That means this s*** is going to get real dark, real fast. The following spoiler is one of the more messed up things from Alias, so be warned.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) https://np.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/3...derstand_xpost/ Another cringeworthy post. The Cubs don't have the monopoly on heartbreak, especially when it's not like Chicago has exactly been starved of sports championships in the recent past. My grandfather was a Cubs fan. I watched his heartbreak in 2003. They never won for him, so I'll never root for them. But Jesus. The Cubs aren't the only ones who know heartbreak.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) Yep, and its not even all of their fans, its the ones that just came on the last month or so and think that the W flag was invented this year. The team itself was very exciting to watch this year. Well, and this asshole.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) Twilight and Hunger Games, for the younger crowd. Harry Potter definitely has to be up there, because of the world-wide affinity for the books. The Fast & the Furious fandom, maybe not AS passionate, but it's almost unprecedented to have a movie series go so long and be so profitable...in the middle sinking to Lucas Black and nearly straight to DVD, and then come roaring back again to be one of the biggest current franchises out there. Maybe the Paul Walker tragedy is also driving interest as well. James Bond, although, once again....passionate fans? Maybe of Sean Connery and the classic Bond films. Transformers has also been incredibly successful from a profitability and box office standpoint, but the passion is more confined to the younger generation who are enthralled by all the toys and doesn't extend quite as much to adults. Even all the comic book movies (especially Marvel)...Avengers, Spider-man, Batman, fall a bit short. As part of the HP, LOTR and Marvel fandoms, I can say they don't even come close to Star Wars. And I probably prefer all three to Star Wars. Star Wars also somehow has the edge in my generation over Twilight and Hunger Games. It's insane.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) This guy seems salty : https://thenohustleblog.wordpress.com/2015/...white-sox-fans/ If you’re wondering, why the hell am I not writing a post about how well the Cubs did this season rather than calling out White Sox fans, don’t you worry. I wrote one weeks ago. Truth be told, the 2015 season for the Chicago Cubs was my favorite season as a fan ever. Better than 2003, 2007 or 2008 – this team was magical and the run they went on shocked me into a euphoric state of pride. Outside of the heralded Crosstown Classic, I barely noticed the Chicago White Sox or cared what they were doing. It wasn’t until the playoffs began before I noticed the South Siders – and it had nothing to do with their team, but rather, their insufferable fans. The inescapable gloating and desperation exhibited by Sox fans during the month of October was quite possibly the saddest thing I have witnessed from an overall fanbase in sports. So, here you are, Sox fans, here is your attention you vehemently demanded as your forgotten team was lost in the abyss of the offseason long before meaningful games took place. Make no mistake, I know my words mean nothing to you and the majority of South Side fans who read this or see it slide across their timeline will simply think, “Hah, you mad, bro?” and move on. I wouldn’t say angry, on the contrary, I am genuinely embarrassed for you. Obviously not all Sox fans are Cub-bashing try-hards, but unfortunately, it seemed like the majority were obsessed with the idea of the Cubs losing. The most hilarious part? Most of the fans who I saw predominately spouting off were also the ones who would think of Disney over baseball if they heard the name Minnie Minoso. The casual fans who come out of the woodwork to do nothing more than troll Cubs fans are the worst type of people – all season long they don’t post a single update or tweet about baseball (let alone actually, you know, cheering on their so-called “team”) but any time the Cubs come up, it’s time to do some bashing! Aspiring sports journalist that works at Babies R' Us. No LinkedIn page either. No official website, only a WordPress blog. His career aspirations shouldn't be too high.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) Last night at 1 again I went by the same stop sign. Good think I did my three second thing, I looked to my right and he was there again. I was safe as I stopped fully this time. It got me to thinking though. It's just your word against the cops. What if he came and ticketed me again and claimed I rolled it even though I did the three second count? I suspect I'd lose. Basically the cops say you rolled a stop you have no chance in court, right? Judges should take the word of the little guy if something like that happens. 1) "Good thing I followed the law this time." 2) Pretty sure there are legal procedures you can take if it were wrongful.

I'll give Fowler credit here, he's trying.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) I can think of one player the Sox drafted in that situation, and I am not sure if they knew ahead of time that is what they were drafting, in Blake Hickman. HE didn't know he needed TJS until he reported to Arizona.

Gordon Beckham was supposed to be a multi-time MVP and was MLB Network's future 2B of the decade.

Episode II was actually my first Star Wars film. I just grew up a giant nerd so of course I loved it and had to see everything else.

I leave off LBJ, cause Jordan might stab him in practice or something.

Anyone know if Avi has any options left? He might need the Erik Johnson rehab program.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) I am not familiar with this. Do you have more info? Kenesaw Mountain Landis is historically seen as a large factor in the continuation of baseball's segregation. He's a direct by-product of the Black Sox scandal.
