Do they have the option of Avi in AAA?

That's...weird.

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition

Ok, now we obsess overy them signing Heyward, hear rumors of meeting with him and then he re-signs with the Cardinals -
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Ventura and Fisk are probably starters on the all-time team, so... Also, you really don't think Wood deserves to be in the same conversation as Buehrle? I'd love to read your analysis. So is Baines. And Frank and Paulie. It just so happens they had great pitchers throughout team history

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) I'll say this about Sox fans. They never forget those old-time pitchers. Those old time pitchers always are thought of better than guys like Buehrle, etc. Wilbur Wood was not better than Buehrle, BTW. Of course Sale has better stuff. Let's see if he has longevity. As far as Walsh, cicotte, Pierce, Faber, Lyons ... who gives a f***? Those guys are ancient! Let's talk about modern history. Buehrle was GREAT in the modern era. p.s. If that was Buehrle's last time on the mound, how ugly. All the runs were unearned but that grand slam was tattooed and so were some hard hit singles and doubles. I don't know why he wants to quit at 36 unless it's totally health related. If his arm is killing him I guess I can't blame him. Otherwise, we could trade Q for a ton of hitting talent and bring in Mark for 4-6 million one year deal with an option. s***, even if Buehrle's arm is falling off, he'd be better than Zach Duke for gosh sakes. Those guys gave a lot to the organization, that's why people give a f***. In 20 years do you want people asking who gives a s*** about Buehrle? Pierce and Wood were in the modern era. JFC. Greg, if you had your way we wouldn't retire Mark's number because WHO GIVES A f*** IN A FEW YEARS? AMIRITE?
-
Buehrle pretty much breaks traditional stats with his defense, speed and ability to control the running game. Sale's ERA this year didn't match his value - it's the same with Mark.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) I disagree... but I do think they'll sign him to one of those ceremonial one day contracts. He definitely is. Sabermetrics agree, his longevity and his production.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:22 AM) This story is so weird. Buehrle has had a decent season and isn't getting lit up every outing. He rules the Royals still. I wonder if we're going to hear he's in so much pain. I mean doesn't he have a few more years on his contract, too? He's not that old, either. That's crazy he must be hurt beyond belief to not pitch in the playoffs. No, his contract is up. And it just sounds like they aren't putting him on their postseason roster. If he was in pain, I doubt he'd pitch today. I'm just sad. I was gonna pull for the Blue Jays because of Mark.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Quintana for Frazier seems so much like a kind of move I'd make sarcastic, insulting jokes about them being dumb enough to do that somehow I think it'll really happen. That'll be the moment I walk into a thread, say "I'm out", and then that'll be it for me with this franchise for a while. We'll probably throw in Danish to make it happen. Q-for-Frazier is such a bad deal unless the Reds are throwing significant prospects back.
-
You know what really defined Mark when it came down to it? That damn slip-n-slide. Until proven otherwise, thus the career of one of the most unique players in baseball history comes to a close.
-
What the hell? Why not pitch in the postseason...?
-
QUOTE (Real @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:40 AM) this pretty much, you can't trade sale for prospects so forget about that nonsense right now he has to be traded for cost-controlled elite MLB players, the goal being to pick up multiple guys that would fill in the holes you have now catcher, 2b, 3b, SP (since we'd be losing Sale) are the primary holes Schwarber, Bryant and Russell Only half green because that'd be what it takes, but it won't happen.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 01:22 AM) Nothing flashy about Q . He just does his job very very well and with about as much emotion as a ping pong ball. It'll be a sad day when he is traded. There was a huge amount of doubters about him on this board. The worst part would be if he was traded to a contender and got his much deserved All-Star appearances, everyone who wanted to trade him would say "Why couldn't he pitching that for us?"

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 01:43 AM) WHERE THE f*** HAVE YOU BEEN? Drinking

I'm just numb. I got down to the newsroom after class, saw this on our TVs and then just got back to work. Nothing will change. We'll mourn. We'll talk about the heroic dead. We'll ask why the media is saying the killer's name. We'll say it was mental illness. We'll say he'd do it with anything if he couldn't get a gun. And then we'll feel better. We'll forget the heroic dead. We'll forget the killer's name. We won't do anything for mental health in this country. We'll ignore that this keeps happening,

Chris Sale breaks franchise record for strikeouts in a season

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) Now try winning a game. Mark But Mark...he did win today. -
Congrats to Sale! I also hope that this brings to light more of Walsh's accomplishments. I feel like he needs to be honored by the team. But damn, Sale is amazing.

CSN review Sox top 10 prospects 2015 season
Quin replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) I guess I missed the issues. Article wasn't anything overly detailed, but gets the point across to Sox fans that aren't inclined to follow the minors. Poorly written, basically reads like someone just read the boxscores. Example: Anderson's defense has improved this year enough that it seems like he'll stick. We know that due to first hand reports from both ourselves and prospect guys. -
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) he's always kept his head above water in the minors as he's moved up the ladder. wouldn't be surprised if he could do the same in the majors. if he can hit .250 45BB 15HR and play great D, HES ON THE TEAM FOR NEXT YEAR! That first apart isn't true. His time in Birmingham was dismal.
-
As we wind down a disappointing, dismal season Dan Helpingstine revisits the ray of hope that the 1971 team had after the worst season in franchise history. Think we can get something similar to begin next year? http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2015/09/1970-a-ray-of-hope/

White Sox official website has a possible Quintana trade chip post
Quin replied to Knackattack's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) or catcher. It should be both, to be honest. Like, the Hamel package + Gallo is what it should have been. -
QUOTE (bjm676 @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) The white sox are lucky with Quintana. Just like they were lucky to get Rodon and lucky that Sale turned into Chris Sale. when it comes to the Sox scouting and player development, they are more lucky that any of their drafted players turn into MLB caliber players. This is Kenny Williams and Buddy Bell we are talking about. At some point give them credit for pitching. Q was a minor league free agent.
