  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) I didn't realize this. Do the fans despise him and boo him? I thought he was kind of the fill in guy who saves the day when Rose is hurt, etc. He doesn't get booed, but Gordon doesn't get booed either. He's not even close to a fill in for Rose. Those were always the scoring PGs. Kirk's got a place in Bulls history, but after this year he should retire.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) Cubs sign IF/OF Emilio Bonifacio The rich get richer.
  3. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) Daniel: That brings up the age old argument which I don't have an answer for. Would you rather win one title or have the chance to win one (no guarantees) by consistently making the playoffs, like say the Twins in the 00's? Guess it depends on your point of view. Mark Win one.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) LOL. Why don't u like Hinrich? Ugly guy? Just wondering. He's a pretty good player. Got a lot out of his skill set. Hinrich has been amazingly awful the past few years. Love him as a person, he's bad now.
  5. I just still can't find myself to want losses this year.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) They represent people who despite being amongst the top 1% in the world at what they do, aren't as good as the rest of their peers. Totally worth hating. Damn them for trying hard but not being talented or skilled enough.
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) In my opinion no. It's not a lifetime pass. They should be doing much better. Cleveland, Minnesota, Detroit all took turns dominating the division. Kansas City appears to be doing so now. None of those cities has the advantages the Sox do in population, radio / TV deals, advertising and sponsorship possibilities. Yet the Sox can't even figure out how to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons. Let's put it this way, JR and EE have owned a major market team for 35 seasons. They've made the postseason five times and the overall post season record is 15-16, with 11 of those wins coming in 2005. That's simply not acceptable to me. Mark Granted, they've shared that market with a media juggernaut, in no small part due to Sports Vision. Kansas City needs more than one division title to dominate. The rest don't have championships to show for the domination.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) Quintana will be dealt. The problem is we usually trade or let go the wrong guy. Look at Santiago. Look at Mark Buehrle. Look at McCarthy before he got hurt. In the offseason maybe they could package Q and Danks and Micah, make somebody take Johnny's salary and we get one Puig and Ethier in return. I think the obvious trade is for Ethier and Puig. The question is what do we give up? I say Q, Danks and Micah. Rick Hahn should be fired if he offered Q and Micah for Ethier or Puig. The Dodgers are the ones sending more pieces for Q. Sox won the Eaton trade so far. They won the McCarthy trade. They definitively won the first Peavy trade. They can still win the second Peavy trade. It was Buerhle vs. Sale for a rotation spot. They won Youkilis. They somehow might have won the second Teahen trade. They somehow won the Edwin Jackson trade. Shark might be the biggest blemish so far, but we won't know in regards to that for awhile. What if they get a stud with the comp pick? What if they keep Shark and then trade an expendable EJ for a good piece? Plus, what Sox prospect has gone on to be a stud after being traded other than Gio? QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) In 2 years, Santiago has a 2.1 WAR with the Angels. In 2 years, Eaton has a 4.9 WAR with the Sox. Stop it. This is according to fangraphs QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) The comment was made on this post about signing MB for nostalgia's sake. I beg to differ as I think it's his history and continued performance. I would sign him in a heartbeat, but I do not believe he will be signed by the Sox. Our loss I'm talking about the people who want to trade Q to clear a spot for Mark, then give up a draft pick. Or allocating resources elsewhere. The Sox have a young, cost-controlled trio of two elite lefties and another in the making. They have a stable of talented, right handed arms coming up. I'd rather put money towards the offense than getting rid of one Sale-Q-Rodon and giving up a pick for Mark. If they somehow clear Danks, then yes, sign Buehrle. If they trade Quintana for a haul, sign Buehrle. But don't sign Buehrle for the sake of signing Buehrle, which many want to do.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) This article kind of sucked, as it went with AJ. I'd be curious who everyone else would pick. For me Jaime Navarro tops the list. http://www.rantsports.com/mlb/2015/07/25/t...medium=referral Hated by opposing fans makes sense. Navarro for sure from Sox fans.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) What would be interesting is to redraft the 2010 draft. I have to imagine Harper, Sale and Machado would be the Top 3.
  11. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) Was Bryce Harper a catcher? At the time of draft, yes.
  12. Dan Helpingstine is back with a column look at the legacy of White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf. http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2015/08/t...erry-reinsdorf/
  13. In case anyone wants to see the 2010 Draft thread, most here were crazy about Sale.] http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77853
  14. Before we mock the Sox, let's go see everyone's pre-draft scouting report on Chris Sale.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) I really hope you're right about Samardzija not being with the Sox next year. As LDF pointed out, Buehrle will cost the signing team a comp pick. Imo, not worth it for a pitcher that turns 37 before opening day 2016. For some people, we should do everything to sign Buehrle regardless of long term ramifications. I love Mark, but come on.
  16. You can trade Q for Arenado, but I ain't throwing in a farm with him.
  17. Avi in extra innings with the bases loaded = walk
  18. That sounded really bad, but looks like Adam shrugged it off.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) I agree, I wouldn't give up that kind of package for Arenado, but with the White Sox having so many "Decent but not great" infielders and the Rockies always needing pitching there might be a deal that could be done there. It does need both teams to do something they don't want to do - the White Sox giving up Q and the Rockies giving up their young stud, but both teams do have needs that could match up here. Q + Saladino? = Arenado might be the basics of something that makes sense to me. The Rockies give up their stud 3b but get back a stud starter, and the Rockies get a guy who can defensively handle 3b or SS and fill one of the infield spots they gave up? I'm note 100% sure I'd do that if I were the Rockies GM but I'd sure sit down and do the numbers on it. I think Q+Saladino would be a fair deal for both sides. It'd suck to see Q go, but Arenado is worth it.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) To be fair, 2013 was Arenado's age 22 season. He is just now blossoming offensively. I do understand Quintana's value, but I assume the asking price on Arenado will be very high. And the asking price for Q is very high.
