QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) I was waiting for someone to make the joke. I'm sure it wouldn't matter but doesn't Mike Cameron hate the White Sox organization? Is hate too strong of a word? I remember his 4 HR game and him talking about it because he never wanted to be traded. Sounds like he's over it, especially because he thinks Paulie is a HoF. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0927-story.html

We get Daz Cameron then eventually trade him for Nicholas Konerko.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) My point is that the stat is flawed and it, along with most sabermetric stats, should be used as part of the picture, not the entire thing. Such as Jose Quintana was not better than Cole Hamels last year just because his FIP was better. Jose Quintana is probably the unluckiest pitcher in the history of the universe when it comes to the rest of the team holding a lead for him, getting him offensive support, etc. He is also possibly the most underrated player in baseball. He'd get $20M per year over 7-8 years in this current market easily.

QUOTE (palehose23 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) I applaud your outside the box thinking and originality but as you witnessed here on this forum, your idea would be shouted down by the masses. People fear change of any kind so they'd rather go with a flawed system than to change to what might be better in the long run. Uncertainty and the unknown are infinitely more scary than status quo. Need more original thoughts in this world. While an original idea, it's also a bad idea for reasons stated above. Pitcher blows out his arm? Boom, millions go to waste. Wasn't even a good idea in the past. Koufax? Career cut short due to overuse. That's the greatest pitcher ever having to retire at 30 because he pitched too much for his arm to physically handle. And even though no one is reaching 300 IP foolishly anymore, the league leaders still hit around 240 IP+ Pitching can also be more stressful now. With scouting reports and video, people know to look for a pitchers offering and exactly what it will look like. Pitchers are also just throwing harder. If you want pitcher's careers to be in jeopardy and risk millions of dollars, then this is a great idea. Otherwise, it's bad. And let's get some non-legendary examples of such things working in the modern era. Bumgarner had an all-time post season performance. Bob Gibson is an all-time great pitcher. -

Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 07:34 AM) From what i have read, Beane wants hitters. I dont really think he is sweating over defensive liabilities right now, especially since he just signed Billy Butler to DH and pretend to play first is it idiotic if Shark extends immediately? If it's JUST Anderson, maybe not, but I think it would be a poor decision. Just because Beane overpaid with Russell doesn't mean the Sox should. -

Trading Anderson, who all scouts say has the tools to be a good defensive SS and a possibly elite bat, for Samardzjia would be idiotic. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 07:59 AM) well, first of all Delmon Young is an ungodly terrible fielder and we are already carrying 1 DH on this roster, so there's literally zero roles for him. Secondly, I'd expect the White Sox to have less of a problem signing a steroid abuser than they would a guy with this on his record. I'd rather get and move Beckham to the OF, have D2 start or call up Jared Mitchell before I go near the scum that is Delmon Young. -
Why do I have a feeling that if Hahn pulls off a trade for Samardzjia he'll turn around and sign Melky? CF - Eaton LF - Melky 1B - Abreu DH - LaRoche RF - Garcia 3B - Gillaspie SS - Alexei 2B - Sanchez/Semien/Johnson C - Flowers With a rotation of... Sale Quintana Samardzjia Danks Noesi With Rodon in the wings.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 08:48 AM) I realize the Cubs weren't his favorite team growing up, but if he cared that much about playing near home, he would have signed a team friendly extension with them years ago. I have to imagine Theo helped kill that hope. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) Look guys even cats have sources now: Monocled Cat Insider @CatInsyder · 2h 2 hours ago Hearing now that deal would be built around: Cespedes-CHW, Alexei Ramirez-OAK, Samardzija-BOS. No word on if other pieces involved yet Ewwww. -

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Also just want to point out that the A's #1 and #3 prospects are short stops and if the trade is indeed centered around Alexei and Samardjiza then I doubt very seriously Anderson is involved. That's assuming Alexei and Samardjiza are the only big names being talked about. A possible trade could look like Reddick, Samardjiza + extension for Alexei, Semien and Montas? For Smardjiza and Reddick I'd offer up Alexei, Semien, Ravelo, Beck, and Trayce. Edit: Scratch that, I'd take Alexei off the table and throw in someone like Hawkins or just do Alexei + Ravelo + Beck -

I'm just trying to figure out a deal that Beane would like that doesn't involve Rodon, Anderson, Montas or Danish. Semien, Beck and Hawkins is a deal I can see them liking. Or Semien, Beck, Ravelo and Trayce. -

Well this has gained a whole lot of steam since I checked last night. -
Looking back that was nonsensical to say, but I would like to see Pau and Noah split up more.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 06:41 AM) Neither Indianapolis nor Louisville are at all interested in teams. They are more than satisfied being AAA cities. I know, but they'd still get teams before Cuba.

I'm both excited and confused by the trailer. The lightsaber with the cross guard and the ranger-esque sith looked awesome. The soccer ball droid was confusing.
-
They really should start Niko or Taj over Gasol. Jo plays significantly better when he's not out of position and the defense improves drastically.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) I'd really like to see this happen. We keep people out because of their actions off of the field, I would love to see the opposite put a guy like Minnie into the Hall. This is where the basketball HoF gets it right sometimes.

I forgot Tony Campana existed.
