Jose Abreu and Adam Eaton are fun. And we got those two and Avi for the price of Jake Peavy, Thornton, and Hector Santiago.

QUOTE (black jack @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) Never wear another man's name on your back. "Y'aaaar. Ye be a disgrace if you wear a shirsey with the name belonging to a man not of your kin. Fools ye be." I'm not sure why, I just imagine you as a pirate. Also, go with the god. Maybe we can get The Flying Serpent nickname to stick for Quintana.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 02:47 AM) I'm f***ing serious man, I think it's a great idea. Look, I made a prototype. My favorite is the soccer ball.

If he keeps the average and OBP from the second half with his power from the first half, he'll have one of the most legendary seasons.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) I just want Sale as top 3. Probably as a holdover from the righteous anger of my youth, I was really annoyed at the trade deadline when ESPN continued to say that the top two lefthanders in the AL were acquired by Detroit and Oakland. Um...no. Pitchers better than Sale: Kershaw That's it. QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 11:50 AM) The NL situation, where Kershaw and Wainwright probably finish 1-2 if the season were done today, provides a fine example of that. If Sale doesn't deserve the Cy Young, then neither does Kershaw.

Peanut is one of my all time favorites. Suck that this is how his season will end. Hopefully he teaches Fuller the Peanut Punch. And remember when he shut down Megatron? Optimus Peanut may be my favorite nickname ever.

If Aiken falls to the Sox, I'd take him in a heartbeat. As it presently stands, I'd take Mautella above him and that might be it. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) Bears had plenty of penalties as well. Plus those Bears INTs were great plays. Not like Kaep over threw guys. For real. Fuller's first INT and Conte's INT were both just stellar plays by the two of them.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 07:43 AM) The story is the architects offered JR a place like Camden and he said no. He wanted a symmetrical stadium. That said, with the renovations, USCF is a great place to watch a game. It doesn't look as sterile and cold like it did, and the sight lines are as good as any. Seriously. The renovations are fantastic. The Fundamentals deck adds a nice site in LF, even if it's not an attraction for adults. The statues on the concourse bring some history, the out of town scoreboard is fantastic. The green seats are nice to look at. The Sports Depot and ChiSox Bar & Grill (formerly Bacardi at the Park) are nice before and after games.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 11:38 PM) He's 13-37 hitting .350. He hit two homers in a game (a win) and two triples in another game ( a win). I don't understand WAR. Are u saying he's been GOOD with Baltimore and was GOOD in Chicago? Cause his traditional stat numbers in Baltimore have been excellent. WAR is cumulative. A player gathers WAR over a season, think of it like triples. De Aza hits three triples with the Sox in five months, in two weeks he hits three triples for the Orioles. Now De Aza has three triples with both teams. De Aza's WAR with the Orioles has already matched his WAR with the Sox. This means he has contributed to the O's enough that he is just as valuable to them in two weeks as he was for the entirety of the rest of the year with the Sox.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 12, 2014 -> 11:31 PM) yeah, I am guilty for rooting for the sox to loose. for me, it is nerving, so to speak, to see a season lost. the sox is in need to rebuild and is rebuilding. why not to hope for a higher pick to help that rebuild go faster. last yr picking up Rodon does more to improve the team. in 2015 draft, there is a difference between a high level prospect and other prospects. I know I am being foolish, but I would love to see the sox in the playoff every yr. you know what pisses me off, the sox as far as I know has never picked higher than #3, and yet for all the failures, the team has managed to be respectful in the overall standings. can you imagine what it would have been like if the sox were able to pick higher than 5 for several yrs in a row? They picked Harold Baines #1 overall in 1977. They also picked HS catcher Danny Goodwin #1 overall in 1971. Goodwin opted for college and was drafted #1 overall four years later by the Angels. He amounted to nothing. -
