  1. Jerry clearly doesn’t want to be overshadowed by Cohen here.
  2. I've mentioned before that agents use Hector to spread info to drive up FA bidding. They do throw him a bone once in a while on extensions or small deals. But the next time he breaks something major, that will be a first.
  3. Two years ago Sox signed Ervin Santana to the exact same deal. Though I have no idea how he made the roster that year.
  4. This basically made Watson untradeable. You’re probably looking at at least 5 1sts along with a number of 2nd or 3rds
  5. No but it includes a bonus if her wife doesn’t whine on Twitter for the year.
  6. What’s next? Mazara as our bargain hunting LHH DH?
  7. They don’t or do you refuse to accept reality? All posts on Bauer and Ozuna are just pipe dreams.
  8. Doesn't matter, they signed him to bring his piss poor attitude for 162 games and get into his teammates' face.
  9. Tripod? With that level of confidence one of the the legs has to be longer than the other two. ?
  10. He may be little, but you can’t call him Little Dick Nick.
  11. The tax rate? I just did a quick Google search. There might be more to it.
  12. It looks like the Japanese income tax is only 10%. And he gets to be closer to family. So it would have taken a much better offer to keep him in the states.
  13. I am not convinced he’d get more playing time with Giants. They got Solano who is solid at 2B, and Flores will get reps there too. At least with Sox he’d be able to DH.
  14. He rage quit Soxtalk after his beloved Colin Sexton thread got deleted.
  15. Checks the profile picture, looks at the posts, the reactions check out.
  16. This is a sneaky good deal, if you prorate his 2020 season, he was almost a 5 WAR player. Of course he’s not that good, but he should still a 2-3 WAR player on a team friendly deal for 2 years. On the Sox he would have made it a lot easier to move Madrigal. Also frankly, it’s still crazy we jumped the gun to pay a worse player $7M at RF.
  17. Red Sox have JDM and Blue Jays have other areas to spend with their resources. It’s really just a two team race at this point.
  18. I agree with the last 2 points, hopefully it was a start of a trend and change in organizational philosophy, and they badly need to apply the same strategy to the international market by targeting projectable, toolsy players. And if we're staying with the bonus pool system and not going to a draft, I'd like to see them trade for bonus money for a change after the trade freeze, instead of trading it away.
  19. Rutherford will most likely never amount to shit and still netted two high end RPs a year after drafted. And that is the point here. The Padres and Yankees traded a bunch of guys to get 4 starting pitchers. Most of those guys are so far away and we probably won’t hear about them for a few years, or ever again. But all the key pieces are projectable players with decent to high upside. Those are the players teams want as center pieces for cost controlled assets, not the low ceiling high floor college picks. Not just that, Sox actually went above slot to sign some of these college picks that had no leverage, which made no sense. It’s more of the same shit on the LatAM side, trading away slot bonus and signing a guy like Yolbert.
  20. I am shocked that our early round college picks - Sheets, Walker, LuGon, Burdi, etc, don’t have much value in the trade market. Not.
  21. I have a feeling Hector is someone the agents use to help drive up the bidding for premier free agents, but they also throw him a bone once in a while, like extensions and stuff.
  22. Put it this way, if Voit was on the White Sox and Abreu was on Yankees, do you see any chance Voit being ranked ahead of Abreu after latter was named MVP? If you want to take a trip down the memory lane, Abreu ranged from 3.1-5.8 WAR per season up until 2018. He's much more proven and just came off an MVP season.
  23. Cruz + Archer easily, and that's why Cruz will likely get $14M and Archer will get $5M plus a couple mil incentives.
  24. I think somebody will, especially if NL adds DH.
