  1. The two teams closest to me (Indy, Cincy) are AFC teams so most of the time they are on a different network than the Bears. There are a couple times I end up getting Dallas even though Chicago is a lot closer, but I can usually count on about half of the non-national games getting to me on regional.
  2. The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Raul Fernandez off waivers from the Colorado Rockies and assigned him to Class A Winston-Salem. Fernandez, 24, is 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA (21 ER/27.0 IP), seven saves and 20 strikeouts over 29 relief appearances this season with Class A Modesto in the Rockies organization. He has converted seven of his eight save opportunities. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Fernandez spent the entire 2013 season with Class A Asheville, appearing in a career-high 35 games in relief and converting 16 saves, the third-most in the Colorado system. His best season came in 2010 with the Dominican Summer League Rockies, going 4-3 with a 1.52 ERA (11 ER/65.0 IP) and 46 strikeouts over 12 games (11 starts). Fernandez, a native of Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, spent the 2008 season as a catcher before being converted to a pitcher full-time in 2009. He was originally signed by Colorado as an international free agent on November 13, 2007. Fernandez is 13-15 with a 4.85 ERA (141 ER/261.2 IP), 27 saves and 225 strikeouts in 145 games (25 starts) over six seasons (2008-14) in the Rockies system. Following the waiver claim, the White Sox 40-man roster increases to 40.
  3. To me, life is too short to spend more than 2-3 years of it working 55+ hours per week every week.
  4. OK, good to hear. I still probably won't get it. Between the 6 Bears games that are national broadcasts and at least 4-5 more that I'm likely to get regionally, it's not worth $200. Might pay $50-80 to get just the Red Zone channel if that were an option.
  5. Where are people coming up with 3B as a position that needs upgrading? After 1B (Abreu), it's probably the position that least needs upgrading.
  6. Sounds like you need some kind of mac/apple device, of which I have none.
  7. What if we alternated years? Even years: Keep most of the current rules - fans vote in the starters, expanded rosters, every team represented, try to get as many players as possible into the game Odd years: Best possible 25 man rosters selected for each team - no fan vote, not every team has to be represented, managers' #1 objective is to win game
  8. When I said the Sox needed to get their OBP closer to league average, this isn't exactly what I had in mind.
  9. Speaking of poaching nicknames, Reds fans call Aroldis Chapman "The Cuban Missile"
  10. He entered the game with the lead. He had to give up the tying run in order to have a chance to be the winning pitcher. Offense just waited one inning too long to score.
  11. In the entire history of the All-Star game, no AL pitcher has ever been the winning pitcher in consecutive games. Don Drysdale and Bruce Sutter have done it for the NL.
  12. If we sell high on every single player we have, we have nothing left but low players. Can we just agree to keep a few players that are playing well?
  13. NL: McCutchen 8, Puig 9, Tulowitzki 6, Goldschmidt 3, Stanton DH, Ramirez 5, Utley 4, Gomez 7; Wainright 1 AL: Jeter 6, Trout 7, Cano 4, Cabrera 3, Bautista 9, Cruz DH, Jones 8, Donaldson 5, Perez 2; Hernandez 1 I guess Farrell has no interest in winning the game when he bats by far the worst hitter on the team first.
  14. http://www.nerdist.com/vepisode/weird-al-y...harrells-happy/ You're welcome.
  15. Hitting for power is a very large portion of offensive value, especially when you are slugging .630.
  16. No, it's just based on your own team's games, but the Sox have played 96 so Sale is one inning short.
  17. Better offensive player - Abreu Better overall player - Puig Of course, Abreu is working on half a season's sample size. I think he has the potential to eventually be good enough offensively to cancel out Puig's defensive value.
  18. Yesterday was the Sox' 96th game, so Sale was the AL ERA leader up until the 5th inning was completed. Now he isn't.
  19. Exactly. Unless Colorado puts Tulo on the market, Alexei is by far the best SS that is available, and if teams aren't willing to pay accordingly then there is absolutely no reason to deal him.
  20. In the entire history of the NBA, number of players by state per million residents: Indiana 26 Kentucky 23 Mississippi 23 Illinois 20 Louisiana 19 New York 19 Pennsylvania 17 Michigan 16 Ohio 14 New Jersey 14 http://deadspin.com/infographics-where-do-...-from-513261549
