  1. I would also appreciate a PM with any good trade news that can't be posted here.
  2. Anybody who skewered Jim Thome is an idiot and needs to find a sport other than baseball to follow.
  3. The guy on your team with the best OBP and 2nd best SLG on the team should never, never, never, never, never bat 6th. Never.
  4. AL DH OPS: Sox .854 Oakland: .671 Yankees: .643 Seattle: .563
  5. Ignore salaries for a minute. Who is most likely to be the most productive hitter between now and the end of the 2016 season: Ryan Howard Adam Dunn Andy Wilkins
  6. Most of the time < 99.9999% of the time
  7. More often than not, an admin/HR person is the one who contacts me to set up the interview with the hiring manager, who calls me for the interview but never provides any contact information. Am I expected to dig around the company website to find the interviewer's email? Just email the person who set up the interview? Both? Neither?
  8. I played four years in HS. I wish my HS coach had worked with us more on repetitive drills to hone our swings. 90% of the time we just played 9 holes and got chewed out for bad scores. I went from a 19 handicap as a freshman to a 17 handicap as a senior. Seems like four years with a "coach" should have produced more improvement than that.
  9. Anybody else watch the 30 for 30 last night about Hinault/LeMond?
  10. Article in this morning's IndyStar about Park Tudor HS and IU's Micah Johnson: http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-...ation/13000593/
  11. Arch is a no based on the wife and I both being acrophobic. A-B brewery tour is a likely stop. In Forest Park, we may check out the history museum. We do enough zoos with the kids, and my wife it not into art museums. Wife also won't do baseball games unless it's the Sox. I can't even get her to go see the Sox AAA team play. Will look into the Delmar Loop. That sounds interesting. We are actually staying in St. Charles less than a mile from Ameristar, so we probably end up in their poker room at least once.
  12. A message board for a Chicago sports team is the wrong place to find sympathy for the "pretty cold" Chinese February.
  13. Saturday is a DH so that would be fun, but if I don't find anybody else to go I'm taking my 6 year old and the DH probably isn't going to work with him, so then it's probably Sunday. I had been so hoping to see Axelrod pitch I can't believe they got rid of him right before coming to Louisville.
  14. Arriving late Sunday afternoon and leaving late Wednesday morning. Don't care for the heat and humidity. Like a place with some good drinks but nothing too loud. The point is to get away from the noise of the 6 and 4 year olds for a few days. We're both poker players so the casinos are always a backup option but my wife has never been to STL and I haven't been since I was 10 so we'd like to know what is cool to see. Historic sites generally interest us.
  15. Different kind of stuff though. MLB commish is a high-profile job all by itself.
  16. Taking a kidless getaway to St. Louis for 3 days in August. Suggestions?
  17. Regardless of popularity I just don't see a former President holding down a job like that. Too much Secret Service red tape.
  18. No deal yet with Time Warner, but with Time Warner covering a really big chunk of Kentucky I imagine it will happen. Not that it matters, since CBS gets first pick of SEC games and ESPN gets 2nd-4th. SEC Network gets the leftovers.
  19. ***Making plans to plant lots of trees when the star of Footloose dies***
  20. 49.999% If you're better than half the people, you're good. If not, you aren't.
  21. Last call: anybody interested?
  22. On a minor league deal with no guarantee of a 40 spot? Sure.
  23. Xbox can make you some pretty good deals sometimes.
