  1. Then I'd have to stop what I'm doing with my other hand . . .
  2. Not sure if anybody else is following this, but the US beat Russia 8-3 in the World Quarterfinals this morning. Play the winner of Canada-Czech in the semis. Need one win in the next two games to medal. US hasn't medaled since 2004.
  3. Regular season games are played on college campuses. It's not reasonable to expect universities to pay to cover their stadiums when they get used <10 times per year and maybe 1-2 of those will have substantial weather issues. Championship games are played at neutral sites, so pick the neutral site that provides the fairest environment for both teams.
  4. Bars and restaurants can sell plenty of alcohol without enabling drunk drivers. Part of the problem is that most peoples' first experience with alcohol is binge drinking in high school/college and a lot of people, even those who aren't alcoholics, never learn how to have a night out and not drink or even have just 1-2 drinks.
  5. WTF with throwing Viciedo a strike on 0-2??? That should be a fineable offense.
  6. Big Ten used to finish their season a week before Thanksgiving. Now they do play Thanksgiving weekend, but the championship game is a week after Thanksgiving and there can be significant differences in the weather a week later, not to mention that Soldier Field tends to be even windier than your average outdoor stadium.
  7. Lowering the legal limit is a very low impact move compared to strengthening/enforcing the penalties for offenses.
  8. Might be time to move DV ahead of PK in the order. Probably put Gillaspie ahead of him vs RHP as well.
  9. Not sure where else to put this: http://www.indystar.com/article/20130515/B...d-child-support
  10. Walking anybody in the first inning is a major insult to your offense. Not that the Sox offense doesn't deserve to be insulted . . .
  11. No, it's not a $700K difference, because the player who takes his roster spot makes at least the league minimum of $400K.
  12. Going to be hard to platoon Danks when he's in Charlotte.
  13. Yeah, I just skipped past a whole block of pissed off UK fan rants in my FB feed from 12:10-12:20
  14. Having him would be great. If he makes a good play I could say, "Nice, Shoes," and my wife would think I'm complimenting her.
  15. Hosmer 2011: .293/.334/.465 Gload 2004: .321/.375/.479
  16. Advice columnist Dr. Joyce Brothers, 85. That's three down. Only Dick Enberg, Jim Palmer, Tim McCarver and Dick Vitale are left.
  17. Well, yeah, seeing how the very best hitters get on base about 33% of the time when they don't walk and 100% of the time when they do. Letting a pitcher walk you is always a good thing.
  18. Speaking of the lineup tonight, we don't have a gamethread yet.
  19. If that's what works, then a gang bang is in order.
  20. A s***ty hitter who is an excellent 2B is a huge upgrade over a s***ty hitter who is a poor 2B.
  21. I think acquiring hitters with high OBP is the #1 objective. Having power and being left-handed are certainly desirable qualities, but this team's OBP is so poor across the board that getting anbody who can get their ass on base is the most important thing right now. Dunn isn't the answer to fill that need, but he's here and nobody is going to take him, so time is better spent figuring out other ways to improve the team that don't involve moving Dunn.
  22. John allowed 2, Jordan drove in 3, so a net +1 for the family. Is that the first time they've played together? Professionally, I mean.
