  1. I don't know if there are lingering personality issues from when he was here before, but otherwise he would be a good fit and wouldn't cost much to get.
  2. Also nobody posted about him in the celebrity death thread.
  3. I didn't really want to get into the gun aspect of this case. I'm much more worried about the privacy/property rights issues. If somebody's going to fly one of those things that slowly that close to the ground, I can whack it with a bat (unless I'm Tyler Flowers, then I'd miss).
  4. The same number he had right after he was optioned for the first time this season. Once you are sent to the minors the first time in a season, that burns one year's worth of options no matter how many times you go up and down the rest of the season.
  5. Offering him arbitration is the old rule. The new rule is making a qualifying offer. The qualifying offer a one year offer for the average of the top 125 salaries from the previous year. For 2015, this figure was $15.3M. Since his 2016 team option is only $10M, there is zero chance the Sox would make him a qualifying offer and a less than zero chance that Alexei would turn it down, so no, there is no scenario in which the Sox get a comp pick for Alexei.
  6. There is indeed such a law, although I was wondering, given the ability of drones to carry weapons, if he could make a self-defense argument, because you are allowed to discharge a weapon in self-defense.
  7. That's exactly why I included my last sentence. Should there be a distinction between something flying above your property at 1000 feet, 100 feet, and 10 feet, and where exactly should the line be drawn?
  8. http://www.wdrb.com/story/29650818/hillvie...cy#WNPoll147728 So, what do the legal experts here think? Does anybody have the right to fly a drone over your property, or do your property rights extend upward from the ground? If so, how high?
  9. I think so. First of all, the Tigers are behind the Rays in the standings. Secondly, the Sox get more shots at the Tigers to take them down themselves.
  10. I'm starting to like my prediction more and more.
  11. I think the lack of posts from Rock/Bucket are indicative of what we can expect at the trade deadline.
  12. I like the idea of bringing up Kottaras. Light a fire under LaRoche by letting Soto DH some vs LHP. Plus, you don't really need another infielder to replace Bonifacio given that Saladino and Sanchez can both play 2B/SS/3B. Bonifacio's flexibility was more necessary back when Gillaspie and Johnson were on the roster.
  13. His WHIP is 1.50 and his FIP is 4.18. That's what's wrong with him.
  14. Jose Quintana was the 8th best SP in the AL last year and is the 9th best so far this year. I'll be beyond pissed if he's traded.
  15. No, I don't see this team making the playoffs without him.
  16. No need to keep Jennings if you move Danks to the pen, and Webb can be sent down when Jones is ready. Or you can just go with an 8 man pen.
  17. Carlos Gonzalez has some very gruesome splits. .984 OPS vs RHP, .383 vs LHP. Also, .936 OPS at Coors Field, .755 away from Coors. If the Sox are going to give up a real prospect for a hitter, let's not make it one with splits that bad. If he's the best option, then just don't add. Saladino has been a huge upgrade at 3B, Sanchez has better offense to go with his excellent defense, and Melky is on fire. If the Sox can get Garcia and/or LaRoche turned around, it's just like adding bats without actually making any moves.
  18. If (1) the Sox continue to move closer in the WC standings (2) Danks continues to be bad and (3) EJ continues to be awesome in AAA, I'm not opposed to moving Danks to the pen and bringing up EJ to be the 5th starter.
  19. LaRoche is out with injury, Robin isn't going to use his other catcher as a DH, so out of Sanchez, Shuck, Bonifacio and Beckham, two have to play. Shuck sits because he is a lefty. Among the other three, all of them have an OPS below .500 vs LHP so you really don't have a good choice.
  20. No non-stop flights from Louisville to Boston. If he's in Louisville right now, he's not going to be in Boston by 7:00.
  21. Crap, my kids' school open house is tonight or else I'd go watch him pitch.
  22. I'd tell the Jays that the package for Quintana starts with Bautista and that ought to end the call rather quickly.
  23. I didn't include Victory Field because Baseball/Softball are no longer in the Olympics. I don't know what else you could put there. Not sure about how to work in the Speedway. Possibly could be the ending point for the cycling road races. ND Stadium could definitely be a soccer venue if you still need another one after using IU/Purdue/Ball State. As for the Joyce Center, I imagine there are enough arenas that are closer that it wouldn't be needed.
  24. Facilities Indy (and surrounding area) already have in place: Lucas Oil Stadium 62,421 Ross-Ade Stadium 57,236 IU Memorial Stadium 52,929 Scheumann Stadium 25,400 Bankers Life Fieldhouse 18,165 Worthen Arena 11,500 Hinkle Fieldhouse 9,200 Nicoson Hall 3,300 Convention Center configurable for lots of different events Natatorium that has hosted NCAA championships and olympic trials Eagle Creek Park has hosted NCAA rowing championships East Race in South Bend has hosted kayaking olympic trials IUPUI has a pretty nice track that could probably have temporary seating added for an olympics.
  25. I still think Indy could and should do it. An awful lot of facilities already in place and wouldn't have to build a ton of stuff.
